    Cool vid. Best explanation I've found so far.
    The projector-looking thing on the roof of the DeLorean was unofficially called "wormhole emitter" by fans till Bob Gale gave a list of the parts, which names it "tachyon field generator". That was when I realized the DeLorean generates tachyons to create its wormholes, which's pretty cool.
    And about the flames from the tires: If you look closer, the flames aren't actually coming from the tires themselves but parts on the car's underside that are behind the tires, which shoot the flames downwards. In BTTF 3, when Marty goes to 1885, the flames behind the rear wheels don't touch the ground but shoot backwards instead, and sparks from the flame sources shoot upward and around the wheels, prolly damage caused by the lightning strike or the DeLorean crash landing in 1885.

    Duuude, that's awesome! I love how you translated all the fantastical fiction into believable science. It would be great if you could do something on the Starburst of a Leviathan ship or the Displacement Engine that threw part of a star into a Dreadnought from Sifi's *Farscape* (1999).

    • @asteroiderer
      @asteroiderer Год назад +2

      Actually, just the Wormhole Weapon itself from *Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars* would be plenty interesting. You could even incorporate going over the Starburst into that video since it utilizes that energy to fire.

    This was incredible! Awesome video! Now, we would love it if you can explain "how" the time circuits can manipulate the tachyons a certain way to open the wormhole to a specific time, down to the minute/hour/day/year. Of course, the DeLorean's three-dimensional location will always remain the same wherever the temporal displacement occurs.

    LOVE this video! I also own the Doc Brown's Hayne's guide to the DeLorean Time Machine. I know this is sci-fi and all, but something that I wasn't satisfied with was this. Yeah - we can do a bit of technobabble explanation as to how the reactor works in conjunction w/ the flux bands and the capacitor, etc. etc. etc. to generate the wormhole. What I want to know is how tf the "time circuits computer" interfaces with all of that to send the DeLorean to a specified date/time group. Seems to me like that solution would be just as, if not more complex than the flux capacitor.

    • @regwellz93
      @regwellz93 9 месяцев назад +1

      I would think that the tachyons being generated in the flux capacitor are given instructions by the time circuits about where/when the destination in space/time is and open a wormhole with that destination in mind. I’m not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination, but that’s just what I think haha

    • @Matikal-nu8wd
      @Matikal-nu8wd 5 месяцев назад +1

      In theory, the time circuits act as a frequency modulator that manipulate the tachyon field to a pinpoint destination. That might explain the time travel part but not sure how it can teleport through space to the exact spot that it went into.

    The only thing i think is wrong your explanation in my opinion is the engine
    A factory Delorean can't even reach 85 mph
    Since the sfx they used for the engine sounds were those of a v8 out of a porsche 928 (which at the time was the fastest production car) i always assumed Doc just swapped it in replacing the factory one explaining why he changed the speedometer to mark 95 mph as its top speed and how the Delorean could reach it so fast

    Nice explanation, missed an opportunity to describe the field-stabilizer illumination as a de-facto Cherenkov Radiation effect in gaseous medium as tachyons transit the light speed barrier from faster than light motion into net positive motion regimes, effectively causing the massive bending of space-time via the transitory mass gain of the tachyons as they disintegrate into faster than light (in air) photons and creating a localized worm-hole, just like in a theoretically possible Albucierre drive.

    We didn't discuss corrections needed for the fact that the earth would have travelled millions or billions of kilometres through three dimensional space between 1955 and 1985 and most almost certainly would have been in a different orientation. This would have to be finely corrected or the organic matter in the car would have been hairy, bloody soup at the destination.

  • @TwoWrights

    1.21 jiggawatts is not the power required to travel through time. It's the power required for the DeLorean to travel through time specifically. Firstly, Doc later makes a train time machine that is powered by steam, which could never produce the power that a nuclear reaction would make. Secondly, at the beginning of the first movie, we see all the clocks around the lab that are 25 minutes slow. They are slow because Doc was sending them all forward in time to test the flux capacitor. But without plutonium, he couldn't make 1.21 jiggawatts. But with a vessel smaller than a car, with stainless steel construction (to help the flux dispersal), it would require less power to travel in time. Something like a refridgerator (which was the original time machine in the original script), it would require a lot of power, but not a nuclear reaction worth. This is why there is a gigantic power amplifier in the lab. You think he made that thing for Marty to play guitar on? Of course not. It's for powering the fridge time machine to send clocks forward in time. Scientific method, my friend. Doc explains the time jump with the clocks to Marty with the stop watches, and it's the only scientific info in the movie that doesn't have a pay off because it is the payoff that explains the set up of the slow clocks at the beginning.

    3:11 But what about a train? 🚂
    Also, do one about the hoverboard. It can't be maglev because it works on ground that isn't magnetic. It can't be jet powered because there are no intakes and it operates silently and doesn't appear to be disturbing the ground which a jet or propeller would.
    My guess, scientists in the bttf universe discovered how to manipulate gravitons and thus modify the weight of objects. Originally used by both governments and militaries due to the immense expense, years of research and development meant that by the mid-2000s anti-gravity devices began to make their way into consumer products such as cars, mobility equipment, and children's toys such as skateboards.
