Well i think i will buy a straight edge... but not a 2000mm long one :( dont have 650 euro , so maybe a 1000mm one.. this does mean i need to do it in 3 steps ..... not so cool. i could go for a 1500mm one witch can do it in 2 steps... but its 380 euro... damned. i did have antother idea.. using a stretched piece of wire over its length and use a capacitance sensor for lining things up.... not sure if that actually works though :(
Good result Joppe! Your within +-0.01 mm if I got this right, let's say it's 'only' 0.05 mm it doesn't matter for your purpose and materials. Maybe it will get out of calibration and bend when installing and temperature differences will do something later on, let it be so. Top!
yeah if i can get the other rail withing the same range to the first im ok i think :) thanks ! indeed the dial is 0.01 so max so far is 0.02 compared to the alu . if i can get the other rail withing the same range would be nice :)
I believe in German the suitable straight edge is a "Montagelineal" and you can get them in various levels of precision (DIN874 maybe?). But yes, one long enough gets expensive quickly, so I think it's fairly common to just use the rail itself (e.g. there was a popular CNC build called "Fenja").
indeed i am on my 4th order now :) with vallder. they have nice materials!!! i hope they will have belts etc soon :) there is to much interesting stuff i don actually need :) but will buy haha

"Retholt" in Danish if that ring some bell. We have borrowed many words from German, English, French and a little the other way around
If you use a 0.1mm dial indicator the needle will move less
yeah and if i make sure it does not touch it, its complete flat.... whats your point ?
Just making a bad joke!
