I get tears in my eyes every time I hear "There is a Redeemer." I don't know what it is, whether it's the melody, the words or both, but that man had a gift, there is no denying it.

Thanks for sharing. Now comes a prayer of complete surrender using caps as emphasis to help others find THE WAY AT GOD'S MERCY, HIS LOVE GIFT IN JESUS CHRIST.
On a balcony of space STEPPED A PURE AND HOLY GOD. IN AWESOME SOLITUDE YOU STOOD ALONE. Not one faint star to give YOU light; just endless darkness, it was blackest night. But somehow in the darkness YOU COULD SEE.
YOU SAW mountains high and lofty, YOU SAW valleys lush and green. YOU SAW babbling brooks, and wildflowers grow, YOU EVEN HEARD a robin sing. Then through YOUR COMPASSION STANDING OUT THERE IN YOUR TOMORROW, YOU SAW forum's visitors, their families and friends. 🥰
YOU SAW them as sinners (missing the mark resulting in their weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) because there is no intrinsic righteousness in any of us due to Adam’s sin. YOU SAW them as they grew from a baby into adulthood due to YOUR HANDS OF MERCY. 🥰 YOU SAW them pursuing a career path for the purpose of obtaining the gains of the world not realizing that it is a loss compared to what YOU DID on the cross. YOU SAW them working long and laboring hard to receive the grace by justification even though YOU stated, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."(John 6:29 KJV) YOU SAW the unwillingness to accept YOUR PLAN OF SALVATION THROUGH YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST. YOU SAW them living with the guilt of committing crimes to the heart. YOU SAW them enduring personal crisis. YOU SAW the weight of the burden on their hearts with each tribulation. YOU SAW them seeking comfort from the above mentioned topography, ONE OF THE MANY MARVELS YOUR PERFECT HANDS HAVE MADE. 👏👏👏 YOU SAW their worries about tomorrow.
If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain. But the skin couldn’t cover THE SUFFERING YOUR ONE AND ONLY SON BORED on the cross as PAYMENT for all our sins because HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE HAD THE MERIT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR HOLINESS. Indeed, ONLY HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SUFFICIENT TO SAVE us from this present evil world as evidenced by Mary's song of praise. "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46-47 KJV) Awesome thanks to YOUR GREAT PARDON for being easy on the heart. 🥰
They have seen a lot of crazy things done in YOUR NAME. For example, the father of lies futile attempts to make crooked the right ways of the LORD to turn people away from faith in the WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE. How can anyone bear the thought of his or her life story detracting from the GLORY AND HONOR KNOWN TO BELONG TO CHRIST ALONE? As a consequence, YOU ARE A MYSTERY OF GREAT MYSTERY to them. Despite this conviction, YOU ARE MINDFUL of them as evidenced by the fact that YOUR JUDGEMENT is not speedy, allowing them to pursue the desires of the flesh.
They are aware of hypocrisy in religious assemblies that like to be seen and heard. In addition, secular education teaches that there is no right and wrong, if GOD exists there is no way of relating to HIM, and moral standards shift according to the whims of fashion. Therefore, their minds are conditioned to question everything this world has to offer including “THY POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED.” They have accepted the heavy burden of dealing with the troubles of this life and seek to know another way, YOU THE GREAT COMFORTER TO ALL who did receive YOU as their personal SAVIOR. Still, YOU have shown them NEW MERCY every day with each thought they make and each breath they take.
Unfortunately, like the prodigal son, we are all guilty of wandering far from YOU LORD because the negative experiences of our lives tend to build roadblocks to the TRUTH. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them to identify the way, truth, and eternal life (that is YOU). Since to know and follow your SPIRIT is more exciting than any 007 movies, and YOU DELIGHT MAKING the ordinary into extraordinary. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST MAKE them understand that there is no way around YOUR TRUTH, and that there is something about YOUR NAME. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them defeat in their minds what is false in YOUR EYES.
LORD GUIDE their thoughts to know that the path of sin is hard on their hearts for the purpose of crying out to YOU to know the joy, peace of having the heavy burden LIFTED by THE GOD OF PEACE I AM, and ANCHOR their souls in THE HAVEN OF REST. In other words, LORD use the storms in their lives to get a hold of them to trust YOU and believe. In truth, YOU ARE THE JOY that seekest them through pain.
LORD HELP their fainting hearts to believe that YOU, who was slain on the cross over 2000 years ago has the POWER TO CHANGE lives today through the INSTANTANEOUS GREAT FAVOR from GOD to the house of Israel made known in believers by YOU to make YOUR NAME EVERLASTING. 🥰 For as the statue liberates the citizens so the cross liberates the soul. ONLY YOU can calm the trouble waters of the mind when one admits to wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, JESUS IS LORD, and believes in the heart that GOD RAISED HIM from the dead TO LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt away from the heart in accordance to YOUR WORD found in Psalm 51:1-10 KJV. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 O, the wonder of it all to experience within the flesh the feeling of a tree being cut back/pruned in order for it to grow stronger and more beautiful after meditating on the words of said Psalm. 🥰🙌
LORD MAKE them know that ONLY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, through the experience of a new birth within believers, can prevent the family circle from being broken because THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE YOU HAVE GRANTED means a chapter of their lives is decided. Creation sings the rebirth song for them yearly, through YOUR PROMISE of springtime, giving rise to the idea that by the mention of YOUR NAME flowers grow, and the desert blooms again. 🥰
LORD GUIDE their understanding of words to use to come into YOUR PRESENCE with an honest reverence of WHO YOU ARE to experience the beauty that time can't erase YOUR WISDOM resting on their faces. LORD STRENGTHEN their determination to never waiver in efforts to search for YOU because the wages of sin is too high for anyone to pay. Additionally, THE KING OF KINGS is needed in their hearts to learn how to expand their capacity to love for YOU are LOVE in any language. 🥰 Once they learn to speak it with boldness through YOUR WONDERFUL COUNSELING all the world will hear, and know that LOVE is the language of their hearts. So LORD, KEEP KNOCKING on their door until they let YOU in to know hardships and struggles will end with a GREAT CELEBRATION WITH YOU. 🥰🙌
If one believes faith cannot be forced, YOU WILL GIVE that individual over to the stubborn heart to follow own counsel which will surely fail him or her to the extent that the punishment will last forever found in Psalms 81 NIV. Given this, I pray that YOU WILL MAKE that person see that this feeling is wasted for a world in which we become strangers as we age, gives us thrills instead of peace, aims to solve a problem but creates another, and unrest surges with each passing generation. Shed some light into their broken hearts for YOU ARE THE GREAT JEHOVAH, THE GOD THAT HEALETH thee.
Lastly, LORD when they call on YOU in earnest prayer to come into their hearts to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life), I pray that YOU WILL GIVE them the blessed assurance of their salvation because nothing breaks YOUR HEART, or tears YOU apart like when they cry from the trials of the devil who comes to slander, falsely accuse, steal, kill & destroy. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY YOU UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh.
O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday. Many thanks LORD for speaking TRUTH in our lives TO BLESS those who are not offended by THEE. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE because YOUR LOVE ALONE CONQUERS everything by WAITING for them to cease struggling, and finally surrender to YOUR EMBRACE to learn about YOUR LOVE AND PROMISE TO TAKE CARE of your children exquisitely. 🥰 Since... "at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore"... (Psalms 16:11 KJV), and the nail print for them to know YOU by answering the following question. How did CHRIST LOVE people into a relationship with HIM? 🥰

I remember the crash so well. I was a very young teen mother, married at 17, divorced by 19. Melody had written me a letter of encouragement on being strong for my baby boy...while she was in mourning for Keith. She and Keith gave of themselves so passionately.
I did my best to become the mother she said i would be, I am now a grandmother. I've kept her letter in my Bible all these many years. Someday soon, I'll meet them both, in the sweet by and by. I can't wait.
I'll never forget the words that Melody used in her book about the crash; that Keith and her children "stepped off into eternity" that day, but knew they'd be together again some day. Lord bless her and everything she puts her hands to.💝🙏

Also a young teen Mom & wife! He ended up very violent, so didn't last long! On & off the street with my baby boy, BUT GOD!❤ Keith's music was shelter in the storm! It didn't matter what you faced, it came on the radio & you immediately felt the presence of HOLY SPIRIT ❤ Seeing & feeling Keith's faith & passion for the LORD inspired many in their faith walks! He was definitely a gift from GOD!❤ Your story is a beautiful tale of faith & persevering through the worst of it all! Not much worse than mourning the loss of your whole family at once, & be left behind! But it sounds like she pressed into her faith & relationship with GOD, & used all the pain for HIS GLORY by then ministering to others! I find it very helpful to help other's in the midst of our trials & tribulations! That & praising HIM through it all seems to get us through the hard stuff so much smoother! Thank GOD for such as Keith & his lovely wife!❤

I was a student at Christ For The Nations Institute (CFNI) in Dallas, Texas, the day this accident happened. The student body, staff, and faculty were all shocked when the news of the Keith Green crash reached us. Keith, Melody, and Last Days Ministries were very well known to us, and greatly appreciated. We held prayer vigils for Melody and the members of Last Days Ministries. As tragic as this was, our thoughts were directed to two principles: (1) Keith had reached and won many souls for Jesus in his brief life and he and his children were now with Christ, (2) Our faith can never be nonchalant over natural laws; yes miracles do happen, but we are always responsible for living wisely. Thank you for your insightful and compassionate remarks.

It is one thing if you a re flying and there is no call for bad weather and when get there an unexpected storm comes out of nowhere. Or anything that really comes unexpectedl!!
It is another thing when the plane is several hundred pounds overweight and a storm is also called to be ahead and you choose to fly into it anyway!

Keith's death was a very big deal to me as a Christian and senior in high school in 1982, I was mailed both "So You Wanna Go Back to Egypt" and "No Compromise" cassettes from LD Ministries offered for free. I sent a $5 bill both times which was a big deal as a young teenager at the time. Their newsletter also introduced me to Creation vs evolutionism for the first time. Sobering reminder of our human frailty and fallibility. Jesus did not walk away from Calvary; he was not merely unconscious when they took him down from that cross. He was dead. He was dead. And his body wrecked. Destroyed. Drained of blood. His heart cut through by the thrust of a lance. And yet, our Saviour had, within himself - and through the power of His Father (and also the power of the Holy Spirit, through whom He was conceived) Jesus possessed the ability to resurrect. Which is why we are here, trusting in Him, that we also may resurrect some day. We can do nothing without God. Nothing. Yet "we can do all things in Him who strengthens us." Dear Jesus please bring those 2 families to Paradise, there was no evil in them, just exuberance and, perhaps, a sense of being invincible. Failure to follow safe procedures... we pay a big price when we expect God to do the ordinary things we should have done - God doesn't usually work like that xx

I was between my junior and senior year at college when this accident ocurred, and had just began taking flying lessons. Being a fan of Keith, having seen him in concert, it hurt tremendously. Fast forward to now, I'm a 20K hour airline captain. But... I've always taken this accident to heart. It is our responsibilities as pilots to cross the T's and dot the I's. Not that I'm perfect. Early in my career I got put into a similar situation with a Piper Navajo by my boss. I have no doubt we were over gross and aft of legal CG. I'll add this, if you've never flown an aircraft at aft (or beyond aft) CG, it flies terribly different. It is pitch sensitive (easy to over control) and lacks the stability in pitch the same aircraft would have in the center of the CG envelope. In our case, plenty of runway, a light touch on the controls, and we had no issue. As the plane burned fuel, it burned back into CG and was fine to handle. But, I've always taken that flight as a learning experience.
That said, I've kept this accident in mind and perhaps it has been an unintended blessing to help keep me and my passengers safe in the years since.

I was on staff at LDM when this happened for a year & half before. I knew and was good friends with both Keith and Don. For many years, there was intense debate by experts about why the accident happened. Weight and balance were the most common factors sighted. However, there was another factor that was often overlooked. At the time of the crash, there was a storm coming in. A pilot, with experience in weather, who came to visit the property sometime after the crash said there was a lot of wind shear going on at the time and he believed that was a factor. Regardless, of the cause, some good friends and great servants of God left the earth that day. It was a devastating time for the Last Days staff.

    • @TakingOff
      @TakingOff  3 года назад +9

Thanks for commenting Kim. In researching (which includes people there that afternoon), weather was determined to not be a factor. The NTSB posted the dozen or so factors for the crash, and none were on the weather. Even though it would not absolve Don, I kind of wish it had been weather and not the aft CG that was the main cause.

I live about 30 miles from that location and was friends with Keith's voice coach. Our friend called us as soon as he heard of the crash. As a non-pilot fan of aviation, I have always wondered about the actual cause of the accident. Many in the area and familiar with Keith have said that they believe Keith's personality was such that he overwhelmed the pilot, but the information in your video shines some light on other possible issues with the pilot himself. No matter the cause, it was a great loss to a burgeoning Christian music ministry. Keith once told our friend that he knew he didn't have much time so he drove himself always. As i have learned from my reading concerning flying, shortcuts cannot be taken. The possible costs as we saw here are way too high.

Years later, I read a question a woman sent in to a minister. She asked if she could be forgiven for killing Keith Green, she worked for the CIA and said he was winning too many kids to Christ and they wired the plane to go down.

The insanity of those pushing for the elimination of normal families and gender is causing a generation of youth to hunger for truth. It turned out to be such a beautiful anointed spirit filled night of worship and praise. It was beautiful even tho we were outside. There is a Redeemer, and Keith is singing His praises to His face now.

I'm glad this video came up on my feed. I was the usher coordinator for what turned out to be Keith's last public concert, in my hometown Columbia SC in early May, less than 3 months before the crash. I talked with Keith after the concert. I got a phone call at 1:30 am the morning after the crash. It was from the director of the concert, then a DJ at a local Christian station. I asked why he was calling me at such a time of night, then he told me that Keith had been killed in a plane crash. I can say from my own experiences that "Jesus Music" was never the same after that.

Hey Ronald.... we may have meant in passing, as I was at that exact same concert in Columbia. Drove in from Charleston with a buddy of mine. I was 22 at the time and loved Keith's music and his Newsletter. I even applied to attend his short institute that he was starting up that year. What struck me most was the awesome altar call he gave to the people. Only after he called people forward to get saved and to rededicate themselves.... did he ask for any offering to be taken. I remember he said there are only two types of souls left here tonight, as the others are getting counseling. The first are unbelievers.... and to you I say..... you are our guest. Please don't feel you must give anything to our ministry. We are here to only bring you a blessing. Then he said the second type of people left here are those who feel secure in their salvation. You are true followers of the Lord, and to you I say..... "Only give as God's Holy Spirit tells you to give" I'm sure there was much more, but you get the drift. It was the most amazing meeting of my life. I had just graduated from Youth For Christ and knew the science behind a good message and altar call, but Keith blew everything I had ever learned right out of the water. He was a Masterpiece for sure!!! After the meeting I wanted to go and have a word with him. I regret I didn't take the effort to do that, but there were people crowding around him and I wanted them to be ministered to. I felt my little "Thank You" did not deserve his time. Now I know different! Keith has been my spiritual mentor all my life bro... in 2007 something awesome happened to me. I had been in the Air Force, and driven Semi's but had never been into music at all...except to sing a few songs in church. That year I meant my wife on a Christian dating site. She lived in South Africa and had been in the music industry there for the last 25 years. We soon fell in love and God directed us for me to come live there. She helped me to get my songs arranged and produced. Yeah, I use to write songs while driving my big rig across America's highways! The album was produced in two stages. The first was done in 2010, and I sent a copy of it to Melody Green. The second remake of the album had 4 other tracks added and was finished 7 years from the original start date with 18 tracks! The final version is called, "Stranded No More" and is here on RUclips for free, in mp3 form. Yeah, what took me 7 years of hard labor in a foreign land - I'm giving away for free. To God be the Glory!!! I know no one can ever take Keith's special place in the Kingdom, but I know that God has taken me to Africa for many reasons. One of those.... is so that I could create some special music. I hope you'll agree.... I'm giving you the link to one of my personal favorites on the album. Song number 8.... called "Holy Eyes" My album has both Country and Classic Rock type songs on it. If you search my channel you'll also find some word for word bible productions that we've done here. I'm still living in South Africa now.... my wife left the music business and is now a teacher at a local high school here. Were hoping she will soon make Principal....lol. Keep us in your prayers. I never knew I was at Keith's very last public performance. Knowing that... has now given me a whole new perspective. How honored I was to be in that hall that night right up in the balcony overlooking his stage! Love ya man!!! Song Link: ruclips.net/video/oMdvI4K-RLs/видео.html

I was two months shy of my 18th birthday-only I didn't know anything about Keith then. In the autumn of 1982, I got saved while on an intervarsity retreat; but didn't "meet" Keith until the spring of '83... I had been reading some of his LDM material that my church had loaned to me; and the tract that he and his wife Melody co- wrote-"Children: Things We Throw Away?" was the catalyst that brought me into the pro-life movement. Prior to that, I didn't know what abortion was, at all. It would be another few months to a year before I learned about Keith's death; which was really heartbreaking: and maybe a while after that when I was introduced to his music. His dedication to the Lord was amazing and virtually unparalleled in the Christian music world at that time.

I think the most remarkable-and maybe the post potent-aspect of your accident review videos is the humility. I know it's tempting to identify the obvious/major causal factor(s) and wag one's finger and say "don't do that" and "How could they have made such a basic mistake?" It is far more difficult to set aside one's ego and instead assume you're not necessarily a better pilot or person than the accident pilot, and to work hard to imagine how you might-step by incremental step-end up making the same bad choice(s). Your humble attitude and sympathy and your skill in articulating how these things happen in the world of real humans is something important you are contributing to reduce accidents and incidents. I appreciate it.

Baptism does not save . It is a symbol of obedience upon belief (salvation). The thief on the cross was not able to be baptized once he became a believer, having met Jesus that day as they both hung to their deaths that day. Just like paralyzed people may not or deathbed conversions in the hospital. Baptism is not always possible. It is not our acts that save us; but our belief and hearts God knows. Like the saying “there are no atheists in foxholes”. What about those who put their faith and trust in Him in those situations or during the last minutes of their lives? Just like wearing a wedding band doesn’t make you married; getting dunked doesn’t save you. It’s only a symbol of obedience once one has trusted upon Jesus as Lord and Savior and then is able to take the step of obedience thereafter to profess their step of belief and faithfulness @@johanneshartman4618

The Holy Spirit comes to live inside you the moment you believe and put your trust and faith upon Jesus. Baptism is a *symbol* of that belief and act of faith. It is an outward act of obedience- a public proclamation/profession of faith. Like a wedding ring doesn’t marry you- it’s a *symbol* of marriage. Because if you take off the wedding ring, you are still married. The thief on the cross was not baptized. l was in Wichita KS a few years back at the Cessna delivery center. An air traffic controller- commercial pilot was ferrying a king air 200 down south somewhere .So he loses his left engine right after takeoff, doesn't even get the gear up and and does a wingover and crashes straight down into the flight safety building near the airport and kills a few pilots and instructors who were training in a simulator on the second floor .The right engine was still at full power when he augers in and the left prop was never feathered. It was just a tragic incident .lmagine being in that simulator, you just can't even imagine getting crushed by a king air in a while flying a simulator at flight safety. I think he had plenty of room to ethier set the aircraft back down on the runway ,maybe gone off the end into the grass at the most .But this airplane would have climbed away on just the right engine just fine for the go around too.l think he just froze or something

I remember Keith being very anointed by the Holy Spirit as he spoke and when he played the piano. He touched my spirit as a young man, and I only met and spoke to him for the briefest period of time.

Thanks for this information! I loved Keith Green's music in the early 80's and was shocked to hear about this tragedy. I am also a private pilot and did my own unwise aft CG flight...4 adults (2 who were heavy) in a C-172, also on a hot summer day in Texas. The scariest part was landing, and I vowed to myself to never do that again! Yes, we as pilots must not give in to anyone we want to please, if it puts all of our lives in danger!

Interestingly Aircraft Manuals refer to the Weight and Balance Sheet as the TRIM Sheet. This concept immediately brings control of the aircraft to the fore! I remember once departing TBPB on a DHC6 I asked a heavy set older couple to move forward 2 rows, he being an old sailor broke into a smile and said "you trimming the plane". Dan, thank you for posting this video! Keith’s crash was a huge blow to my day when it happened. I worshipped using his music and songs and loved his zeal for the Lord. And it was incredible how he decided to give away his albums and let the Lord take care of him. I was working out at the gym in Tulsa when I overheard two guys, I didn’t know, talking about the crash. I stopped and went over to them and asked them and they confirmed it was Keith Green. I’m still saddened and shocked all these years later. The Lord had a reason, and I trust Him for whatever that was. I’ve always wanted to know more detail about what happened. God orchestrated your video and gave you the right words. Sidenote: one of the guys I overheard talking about the crash that day in the gym ended up being the singer, Carmen! I hadn’t heard of him yet, but started listening to his music right after that. Very well done video and compassionate for Keith’s family! I didn’t know Keith personally, but his loss was almost like losing a close family member and I’ll never forget it.

Although your video brought back sad memories, it was instructive to any pilot and greatly appreciated. We had planned to go to his concert together in Portland, Or-instead a few months later we went to his memorial concert hosted by his wife. It was there at that concert that I surrendered my life to Christ and was called to ministry. In all my years since I have never seen one anointed like Keith. His music was simple, and powerful. Where is the “protection” that you are imagining? Christians get sick and die all the time. They get killed in accidents all the time. Their children get sick and die.
And Christians are still dying because of their faith.

This is a great presentation, my wife's brother is a very experienced pilot, and there have been stories, where he has flown in challenging situations. Lesson from all this, is that human life comes first, and knowledge to reduce as many risks as possible, should be adhered to.

On my second flight lesson (I'm still currently training) I performed a soft field takeoff in a Cessna 172. During the takeoff roll my instructor said when the plane started to fly to push the nose down and fly about 15 feet off the ground to ride the ground effect, and I thought that was crazy! But after explanation it made a lot of sense, and to see it in this video reminds me of it, excellent lesson to take away.

Interestingly the graph in the video shows the AOA of the stall is lower IGE(In Ground Effect) than OGE which makes sense to keep the nose low to accelerate IGE!
Well the actual AOA may be the same because just as in the freestream at higher AOA the stagnation point moves aft below the LE(Leading Edge), IGE the stagnation moves aft under the LE which may produce a more vertical component(upwash) to the airflow at the LE, causing the Wing to 'think' its at a higher AOA

Thank you. I'm almost ready to take the written for private pilot. The last 2 days I've been learning weight and balance. The material I have (on-line school) wasn't getting it through my thick skull. Tried reading chapter 2 of FAA's Weight and Balance book. The diagrams changed (I think 2-11 & 2-13), which was confusing until I figured out the error, but the words were Greek after that. A quick RUclips search and I found a video that explained it well and got it to click for me.
Your video drives home the point that we shouldn't just learn it for the test, but to apply the information before and during flight so its not the last thing we do.

Tks for another one Dan! I remember that the first exercise my CFI made me do was work out a weight and balance problem for the 152 we were flying, always stuck in my mind.

Keith Green was like a lot of Christians I have known and admired - no compromise (sound familiar?)! The force of his absolute commitment is something hard to argue with. But it was the job of the pilot to do so. I have always been frustrated by the loss of someone so early in such a wonderful ministry. My kids grew up listening to Keith Green and I've been in several groups (bluegrass) that adapted some of his songs. I wish we had someone like him now to inspire young people and keep us all committed! To be the pilot for someone like that requires a will and forceful personality, too. No shrinking violets need apply!

I do indeed remember where I was when I heard the news. Thanks for the thoughtful analysis.
