    I must say that I was somewhat concerned about that shakey old tub but you really came through with some solid mods. Now I can’t wait until you bring it home from the powdercoaters! 😎

    Dude so sick. You might as well grab a couple more sheets for the sides & transom and just use the old boat as a template/ stencil for a new sled. I love projects like this. Been wanting to pull my bench seats and put a thick floor and strengthened sides & transom in my Smokercraft 1750 Jet 🔥

    I've been thinking of putting a tunnel in my boat, JT-17 . Thanks for posting very good pics, dimension and reasoning on the tunnel design. Take your time. Please continue to post on this. Appreciate it !

    You are looking at brand new 16ft Lunde aluminum out board jet and trailer, 40 horse out board , $15 k 4 years ago that's what my gold mining partner and mine cost. partner passed away just sold for 10k . By the look of the boat you got it real cheap . if you can rebuild for under 10 k you are a winner . Looks real good so far

    That's a great job you did. Just to let you know a lot of tig welding machine have a finger tip starter in place of foot pedal. I used to build heavy duty hang on treestands that were all tig welded and i thought that was a lot, nothing compared to what your doing there though. A mig gun is the way to go for sure. UHMW would have made boat a little lighter but here in PA on the rock strewn rivers some are opting for 1/4 plate thinking it's better it just won't slide over things as easy but adds more strength.

    Look at a bottom coating for your boat called “wetlander”. I have used it on a couple drift boats and it’s slides AMAZINGLY well over rocks. It also protects the boat hull.

    Save on aluminum, use light weight and put plastic bottom liner on. Drift boat special. Slides right over boulders. Who cares if you have a deep gouge in plastic,boat hull isn't touched

    That's unreal all that water in the foam. Looks like whoever owned the boat didn't take care of it.

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  3 года назад

      The boat was definitely well used. I think the foam was just a strange type. It's still water logged just sitting in my backyard, like the water got pulled in between all the little pellets of foam and is just sitting there...

    I didn’t think a spool gun would weld any thinner that 3/16’s?

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  2 года назад

      I'm not 100% sure how thin they can go... I imagine in the right hands they could do 1/8 no problem. Maybe thinner? But obviously tig has the potential to do much thinner. If I ever get my hands on one for the next big project I'll find out!

    Is this rebuild AFTER you used it a number of times - or have you posted this tape belatedly ?

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  3 года назад

      This was after I used it a few times. The boat just needed a few small patches to keep the water out and was otherwise fine.

      @@UtmostOutdoors So instead of a 6 minute repair job , you went 6 days and still not finished
      Not saying you done wrong , but I know what I would have done - but I be doing 6 minute repair jobs every day and you won't ever have to repair again in your lifetime

  • @slackwaterplacer

    Wow, that was some sketchy shi* !! Lol. Yup, I'd like to see you spend another 45min video showing you finish it up. And also your thoughts on how you are going to disperse the weight of the gear to minimize water depth .

    Nice work but you could have just built a boat.

    • @UtmostOutdoors
      @UtmostOutdoors  2 месяца назад

      I thought that might be the case when I took on this project, but having build 2 wood boats and one aluminum boat prior to this one, It was actually a pretty nice shortcut compared to doing a full build. I'm sure the pre-cut kits would be good as well, but overall this worked out to being easier and cheaper than a full build.
