@MiloFidoQueenMeowdude people spend years tweaking post-proc. for each level/scene. Then comes nvidia and over saturates/exposes the image, with a technology that is just an ai based denoiser of images.
P.s. technically dlss is upscaler, but the ai nvidia uses to analyze rendered image is the same they use for denoiser. I'm like 99% sure

ahh yes, tiktok ai filter in my games. this is exactly what i want.
Kinda, been reading up on it. Apparently it uses a neural lighting algorithm that reruns the frame through how it thinks the lighting should be processed based on the geometry, light source and motion vectors of the image. But in motion, it does give that "filter" vibe especially since it still technically is one. But it seems to be scene-aware, which makes it a bit more advanced than a tiktok filter.
Looks to be a mixture of RTX Neural Faces, RTX Hair, RTX Neural Texture Compression, etc.. they announced a bunch of the features a year ago and we hadn't heard anything since.

@engagex1This isn't just a filter. Nvidia stated that DLSS 5 inputs the game's color and motion vectors for each frame into the model, anchoring the output in the source 3D content. So it should at least provide visual consistency.

@lagsalot9357 The AI stuff we've been using so far is mostly good, because it gives you what the developer intended, just at a higher frame rate. Or at least it tries to. This is more like having an AI generated output using actual rendered frames as a loose guideline.
The main issue with this is that it will no doubt be proprietary to Nvidia, other vendors will have to train their own AI filters, which will mean that games will start looking different on all platforms, and on console games you might not be able to turn it off.

Especially when it just adds them without any consideration of the original INTENTIONAL design. That's the problem with AI as a whole. It is not a can't ever be INTENTIONAL. So it just ends up bastardizing the original very INTENTIONAL character design, making them look like a different person. Just a punch to the throat to all the talented artists that worked tirelessly to achieve their final designs

It seems to fall apart really quick and easy in motion. Notice how the majority of these curated examples are only screenshots. Or the motion stops when DLSS 5 is applied. Except for the footage from FIFA. Which reveals why so much of the reveal used still images. In the FIFA footage the ball distorts like crazy when the player kicks it in the net. It distorts the players face like crazy when it flies in front of them, flattens, disappears for a frame or two etc. Then when the player runs off to celebrate, part of his left arm just disappears for a few frames lol.

That's crazy because I can only go back 5 years ago at most where RDR2, TLOU2, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart should be good benchmark and the game devs can reallocate extra budget on optimization and creative artistic vision, I genuinely think that Ratchet & Clank (2021) is "the peak" of graphically visual fidelity for 3D animated style games because it looks like an actual Disney Pixar movie on the fidelity mode which is insane (you can't really improve it from here and on unless you want to ruin the art style or unnecessarily bloat your games with excessive details which is bad for performance).

I had friends that worked in ubisoft, krafton (PUBG), etc. and I've heard a lot of their numbers got laid off in favour of cost cutting. Im 1000% sure multi-billion dollar companies will lay off their artists for the same reason, with the argument that the AI is making their games look much better without having to change too much. In a world where ownership is being phased out in favour of cloud gaming, I can guarentee in the near future video games will be made with the mindset that AI will do the rest.

this runs locally on your gpu, this doesnt connect to some massive data centre that runs off ram and doesnt contribute to price increases. infact nvidia cards have stayed stable during all of this in price. its all happening in the gpu locally. its also a completely optional setting that's disabled by default and has existed already for years.

Funny thing is that he will likely transform in every scene with DLSS 5.0, because I doubt that DLSS 5.0 remembers characters. We've seen it with Grace. Grace in two different scenes got two different faces with DLSS 5 on. I'd imagine that this abomination of a feature will generate new faces every time a character enters the screen, which also means new faces every time you replay a game. That's what I think will happen at least.
