"He smelled like olive oil and paradise...." Ha ha ha!!!!!! LOL omg LOL
That actually sounds good.
I nearly spit my coffee out from shock and laughter when you started questioning Caillou's name ahahhahaha
it has become my daily routine to watch your videos when i'm alone and getting ready for school in my dorm ✨ thank you for being such a treasured part of my everyday life! 💓🥧
i watch them instead of evening's films since i'm trying to go to sleeo earlier and they calm me down so so much
@@whiterose5174 me too !
@@mediarosae6666 they are just everything and motivates me so much to read more
I watch them before bed while drinking calming tea
how can brad be a vampire chef at an italian restaurant?? is there a scene where a recipe calls for garlic and he gets all angsty bc garlic is his downfall????? does he just refuse to use garlic?? is that how quincy finds out he's a vampire?? i have questions
That armadillo man sounds like Ross Geller from friends in that Christmas episode
your epiphany about caillou made me laugh out loud omg
I also immediately thought of Caillou when you had that realization! haha! I LOVED Caillou when I was a kid. I watched it every day before kindergarten. Also, yes to the "possibly elsewhere???" I live in the US.
If you're looking for another work by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I highly recommend her novel Purple Hibiscus. It was very heavy, but it is such a profound narrative and I think it is absolutely worth the read.
Also, I just found your videos, and I absolutely love them... you've created a very calming and comforting space, so thank you!
WOW The Graveyard Book... you just sparked a memory I completely forgot I had. I definitely have to re-read it, for nostalgia’s sake.
i read 3 books in october and i was super proud! i’m aiming for more in november now that my exams are over!
i finally got into reading this month! i finished 1984 but honestly, didnt enjoy it much. BUT i also finished song of Achilles and oh my god, what an experience, i'm so in love. also i'm happy that new video is out, i made a cup of mint tea and took a little break from studying with you
Emma, i recently found your youtube channel and i really like your vibe..it's so calming and comforting..we share some common grounds..and you made me to go for a wider range of books..Thank u..keep it up..your videos are really nice ❤
That was so long yeah i almost finished my huge Coffee mug! I finished "The graveyard book" yesterday and came here to hear what you think about it! And i am so happy we have the same thoughts. I enjoyed it so much and gave it 5 stars.. I LOVE IT AND ALREADY GAVE IT A PIECE OF MY HEART! Loved all the characters, and the writing and everything about it!
I love how you describe the book and explain it fully before you state your opinions. It gives us an oppurtunity to form our own
Your reviews remain my favorite videos. I like you style, you sound honest, and passionated, and you give a clear idea of the book
Emma! These are so many. What a great reading month for you. 🌸 You talk about Why Buddhism is True in a way that makes me want to read it too. Really hoping to see more non-fic booktalks from you in the future. (Jumped into 22:55 first because the title intrigued me, ok gtg backwatch hehe.) Bless you!
It's so cool to see that you got interested in Buddhism. I'm practicing meditation and learning about Buddhism with a teacher and it's so interesting I think it can help me with a lot of my problems.
I loved my experience reading The Phantom of the Opera for the DA book club! We had an ice storm; our power went out; and the tree branches in our and our neighbors yard were cracking and falling off; it was the coolest time( pun intended 😂) to read The Phantom of the Opera.
Wow, you've really had a great reading month! I love that you have such a varied taste in books, your youtube channel is one of a kind! 🌸Keep up the good work, you keep inspiring me constantly.
I’ve been having really bad insomnia lately and your videos always help me calm my mind and get in a better headspace :”)
I'm glad you had such a great experience rereading The Phantom of the Opera. I had a similar experience a few months ago when I reread Candide by Voltaire. I had enjoyed it the first time I read it around 5 years ago, but I loved it even more this time around. I annotated the life out of it 😅
My favourite book of this month was Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier.
emma, i can totally relate to what you said with phantom about how each you re-read one of your favorite books, it’s like a new treasure hunt for gems you didn’t notice during previous reads😊 i recently started re-reading willa cather’s my ántonia one year after i first read it in lit class last year and it is even more beautiful this time around, i highly recommend
I am absolutely loving learning new words along with you! I decided to the same from now on, English isn't my first language but I mainly read in English so I come across words I don't know all the time but if I understand the context and never take the time to find the definition of the word which I totally should start doing !
i just want friends who will talk about books with me and worship emma's channel :(
Me toooo!!
@@anaish.5256 do you have instagram??
@@whiterose5174 yes, it's @lunarticmoonie !
Wow! 16 books, that is amazing and such a variety of subjects/genres! My favourite book this month was also Phantom of the Opera - I didn't realise it was a book until you talked about it and I read it for the first time this month as part of the DA book club. I agree that the writing isn't the best that there is in the world but I loved it, the story, the mystery, the music and that ending is just heartbreaking! Thank you so much for introducing me to it!
My favourite read of October was Little Women, it was my first time reading it and I can already see myself going back (especially to the first volume) when I need a comforting and heartwarming book 💓
I'm now very interested in This Is How You Lose the Time War! Also, thank you for these long videos, I love the rambly bits!
I hated Red Hood too lol. I remember when you did the judge your bookshelf you did mine and you pointed out that book and I really wanted to tell you to not waste your time lol. The only thing I liked about it was the setting because I'm very familiar with the area.. but that's it lol.
So, answering to your last question, my favourite book of the month (and of the year so far) was the phantom! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this novel. It was incredibly hilarious and I loved it ♥️♥️✨
Thanks for the video as always! x
I've got Murder on the Links queued up behind Turn of the Screw (and perhaps A Man Called Ove) before going back to my French classics. I've always enjoyed Christie tho I've never read her avidly. As for Wells, I've always wanted to enjoy his stories so usually I avoid discussions that seem to be leading his way. Gillian Flynn remains on my TBR short list, which I've been pretty good at using as a launching point. Thx Emma, enjoyed.
Love the way you describe Sharpe Objects. I added The Doll Factory, the Castle of Otranto and the Graveyard Book to my tbr list, I can't wait to read them! By the way I love how cozy and beautiful looks that spot. You, surrounded by all those books haha ❤️
your reading nook is spectacular
I REALLY want to read the Doll Factory now because of your review!! And Kiki.
emma, you have no idea how happy i am to see you've uploaded!
ahhh I absolutely love this new background setup 💫💛🤩
God i need your videos more than once a week😂so ralaxing😍and your taste of books is so near to mine.❤
ur bookshelf is so pretty!! i LOVE watching ur videos, ur one of my fav youtubers
Love the skull with butterflies in the background. 💓
oh my god the part about caillou had me cackling 😂😂
always, always such a joy to be here
YES! Omg Emmie's videos always make the day better
Commenting again, because well, you do inspire me to read more. I read We should all be feminists after watching this video, and yes, it's simple, short , lucid, and I loved it! Thank you for your reviews and recommendations! ❤️
I watched Matrix yesterday and when you started talking about Why Buddhism Is True it popped up on my mind but I didn't know why... Then you mentioned Matrix and I just was like whaaaat😂
Callow was pretty popular in Argentina too but like 10 years ago or so
Caillou omg I wrote callow instead jajaja
Your videos give me so much peace. 💕
Your voice is so pretty I could listen to you talk all day 🥺 also I aspire to be as smart as you, the way you read is so inspiring
You inspired me to read Phantom as well! It was my fave story back in high school, but I never got to read the book. So I ordered it, so I can finally read it.
I like your definition wrap ups! So unique!
Emma could you make a video of all your five star reads? Very curious to see which books you absolutely adored!
I looove your ear rings!
You had mentioned while reviewing Solaris by Stanislaw Lem that you liked reading books that had a 'textbook' feel to them. So I'd like to recommend a book to you . It's non-fiction and it's called The man who mistook his wife for a hat by Oliver Sacks. I hope you'll enjoy reading it, plus, please don't miss out the preface while reading this one.
P.S. love your videos!
OMG, I am addicted to your channel.
My favourites of the month were The Diary of a Nobody by George Grossmith and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. One is very cozy and the other creepy 😆👍
Yay a new upload! ❤️ Ive recently picked up my first classical study peice - medea by Euripides. im so excited to read it!
i just ordered medea few days ago! im very curious about it bc i havent read any greek play yet but i want to try them out
@@whiterose5174 let me know how you get on! ❤️
@@ambermoore8208 oh it'll be long until it arrive but i hope i'll get into it before christmas
Those are some great books Emma! I just found the audiobook of the Graveyard Book, I’m so excited 📖😊
That'so funny/interesting about the link between callow/Caillou. The word "caillou" is the French translation of "pebble" so I always assumed he was bald as an ode his namesake. 😂 Though I wouldn't be surprised if the words "callow" and "caillou" were somehow etymologically linked.
my favorite book that i read in october is actually also my favorite book that i read this year! human acts by han kang. i have so many feelings and thoughts about this book and i can't find the words to articulate a single one of them lol (not yet anyway)
I understand you, I feel the same with The Vegetarian, I just can't understand what I feel about it, I don't know if I hate it for toutching several sensible points of my mind or love it for this torture.
just curious, why do you finish books you're not enjoying? personally I have too long of a TBR and I don't want to waste time on books that aren't great, so I cheerfully DNF anything I can't get into or that is simply Bad. also, I'm sure you've already seen it but if you haven't, you've GOT to see the 25th Anniversary POTO recorded performance with Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess. the audio quality... the visuals...ramin and sierra and hadley fraser... all *chefs kiss*
Love your channel and your honesty please stay safe love 💖 John from Australia xxx
Great channel. Really enjoy your videos.
Looks very cozy
Make a video on how to build a reading habit....😇
Emmie ! I love you so much .. I'm from Egypt.. Sending you lots of peace and love. I would love to watch your routine maybe morning evening reading any routine really I would love to see from you ❤️💕
Just to offer background on Caillou's name...it means "pebble" in French. Caillou's creator is a fan of Françoise Dolto - a children's psychologist that asked the children she counseled to "pay" her in the form of a pebble for each session they attended. :)
Just had an existencial crisis thanks to Caillou
The moment I heard " For those reasons ", I immediately thought of Shark Tanks and guessed the next word, which is " I'm out "!!
The great series i red this month was the kingkiller and i loved it soo much
AHHH looks like my tbr list just got a bit longer
hi emmie! If you liked "we should all be feminist" you should totally pick "Americanah" up! I read it at the beginning of this year and it was one of the most enjoyable, interesting and inspiring books I've ever read ❤️
i feel smarter from just listening to you.
How does someone smell like olive oil and paradise at the same time
greek ppl xd
I hope you will soon check out Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novels. They are beautiful :)
Alegraste mi domingo 💛
I was excited because i finished 4 books in October. I'll go hide now hahaha 😢
34:40, caillou means bald?, maybe is an unrelated fact but 'cal' (کَل) also means bald in persian, or maybe old persian, because its not used in modern days but you can find it in age old persian poetry.
Can you film "a day in my life" video? ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love you
I’m potuguese and we call caillou ruca but that actually makes sense
The Doll Factory sounds similar to that one movie in Goodebumps
Yeah, I was disappointed with Of Curses and Kisses too😩
😊
What does it mean when a book is described as “pure” (Kiki’s Delivery Service)? What would an “impure” book be?
Fifty shades of grey 😂🌚
I assume a “pure” book would be something that is lighthearted and probably family friendly, opposed to some sort of gore filled/raunchy book.
Lovely video
Would anyone suggest reading phantom first or phantom of the opera
u inspire me sm
Do you watch tv/Netflix or just read only? Because I find it to fascinating that people can read more then 4 books a month. Is books substituted for tv?
(This question is open to everyone too)
It'd be hard for books to get much worse than Armaggedon Summer by Jane Yolen and Bruce Coville. I mean at least many other bad books have some positivies, but that one was so awful. I only mention it here because I'm a bit astonished that the "worst book you ever read" could be something you read last month. I mean, sure it's possible, but I still feel like that might be an exaggeration.
However, quite a number of bad books come through here, even ones by authors I haven't read before but was interested in the basic concept, that I'm not 100 percent sure what can happen in a reading life anymore.
Haven't watched Kaiyu in aaaages
how do you manage to read so many books in a month? I barely read one.
if you want to read, you will! try swapping time on your phone for reading and bring a book with you wherever you go- theres so much time we have to read throughout the day in between tasks that we dont realize. set goals for yourself! hope that helps :-)
yes! if you enjoy reading it'll never be a waste of time
🦊🍁🧡
omg y u so cute!!! what camera do you use?
wowowowoowowoww caillou!!!! 😯😯😯😯😯
Video (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧ so many books!! I love hearing your thoughts always and forever ❤️ My favourite read of the month was a nonfiction called 24 in ancient rome ♡(ӦvӦ。) I hope you are doing well. Have a wonderful day Emma 🌸
Sharp Objects I found horrifying as well. It was a wild read. I did not like the series as much as I liked the book. I don’t even think I finished the tv series.
How can you read 16 books in a month? :D I can barely eat and sleep besides university work :D
fifth!! Ilysm!
I really enjoyed this video! But the background noise and change in volume here and there was often distracting.
Omg that’s my name
Second! 😉
This is my second comment, so stay tunned for my third comment.
Also, anyone else find reading horror very difficult?
hai kak🙂🇮🇩
