some Guitarist teachers say Vernon's not a real guitarist- please he's musical and his playing is outstanding - he's more an abstract player and an artist- Vernon has full control of what he plays - I took to him and this band I got it-- I saw them at Janice landing not that long ago and they were amazing still -- Vernon still holds his own and I bet most of those that attend are there to see Vernons amazing guitar work - thank you for all the great music🤘
These guys got even more energetic and unleashed into their "wisdom" age. Was blown away as a 13 yr old when Vivid dropped. Now I'm old as hell and they're recent performances are inspiring me all the more. I hope it's not the case but a band like Living Colour was probably a once in a lifetime event for me. That mold is so broken.
I was there that night. I think I saw myself, standing there stunned in the crowd, in the final seconds of the video. I'd already memorized the song from mTV, but Corey and Vernon, especially, were shockingly good in person. They tore the place up.
Saw them on this tour at The Livingroom in Prov. RI. Such a small place, such a ferocious show. Set the bar way to high for my young, concert going mind.
Although Faith No More came out years before, Mike Patton wasn't a part of them 'til after Living Colour came out. He HAD to have gleaned a bit of his stage presence from Corey Glover. Lordy, do I love both those bands.
These guys are one of those bands who are good musicians, have good stage presence but sound like shit live. This song is so heavy on the album and sounds tinny and lacking bass here live. Just shows what studio engineers can do.
This was a one-off show, and the audio in the room was unbelievably great. However, MTV’s engineers mixed the video portion that they aired later. They didn’t sound tinny live, I can assure you.

Muzz was a killer bassist, huge part of their sound.

Awesome story.
Vernon Reid still drops my jaw in 2019.
And in 2021
Someone: "KK Downing is the best British guitarist of the 80s"
Vernon Reid: "Hold my birth certificate..."

Nice! Haven't seen a reference to that place in a long time...brings back memories of seeing Max Creek there in the 90s.
🎶 You gave me fortune, you gave me fame, you gave me power in your God's name, I'm every person you need to be 🎶......Great performance!👏🏻

You wonder where Mr. Mike Patton gets his wit from.
