    I have a pretty heavy duty paper shredder and I use it to shred cardboard boxes. It's fantastic as free bedding for my chickens. Not so much for the ducks. Great for worms though

    It's the best tray system I have seen. I have the can o worms and the worm Cafe type of tray systems. Which are ok but this one seems a better one

    I've seen other Vevor how-to videos that put the square coir mat up inside the lid between the white plastic (interior) with holes & top lid (exterior) with handle. Thoughts???
    Your video was helpful, as I'm a very beginner worm farmer & excited to be successful. Thx!

    I was absolutely blown away without fast vevors shipping is. I ordered some of their electric fencing that was on sale and it was at my house in 3 days. Amazon usually takes 4 days.

    My Vevor worm bin arrived today and it has four opaque plastic ant traps for the feet that are meant to hold water. This is similar to how I keep ants out of hummingbird feeders. My worm bin will be set up in a dedicated garden room in the house so maintenance should be easy.

    Hey man! Thank you so much for the very detailed review. Funny enough, I just bought this exact model Vevor last night off of Amazon last night. I caught it at a really good time because there was another discount on top of the other discounts you had mentioned. It came out to $56.87 total. It looked just like ther Vermihut so I thought it was a good deal but now know that it is the Vermihut but black, it's a STEAL!

    So, I have a brand new Vevor - 5 tray setup still in the box (was on sale for $69), after watching this I went ahead and took advantage of the $59 sale -$3 for the promo so I can do it like beekeeping... good video🤠

    Great Video Jack! 2 questions -
    Any concern with using bleached white office paper?
    Many places including Jim's worm farm say not to use bleached office paper.
    Any concern with adding insect contamination from compost?
    Could eggs of fly's or other bugs in the compost take over the worm farm. Should we take any precautions when adding compost or soil. For now I have only added the soil the worms I bought came with, plus paper/cardboard shredding's and the coco that came with the bin.

    Hi Jack. Thanks for the great vevor wormery set up video. It's been really helpful.
    Please would you help me with a couple of questions. Did you dampen the coir matting b4 using?
    Anyway you can explain how you get to using 5 trays. I understand how to put the second tray on but what do you do with the lower trays if you want to use all five.
    I hope to hear from you.
    Kindest regards

      Well I pretty much covered all this in the video
      1. Yes you have to soak the coir because it comes as a compressed bone dry brick. Toss in a bucket, cover with water and pull it apart this can take a while to do, like a few hours. I just leave it over night, then strain it out, and when you do squeeze it as dry as you can.
      2. You just keep adding trays, when the 5th is full, remove the bottom one, harvest the castings, put on top, continue. This way once you get to 5 trays you have a new tray of compost about once every 2-6 weeks depending on how large your waste stream is.

    So,how did you figure out how to keep the ants out?

    • @survivalpodcasting
      @survivalpodcasting  4 месяца назад +1

      Ant or no ants once every two weeks I treat the ground around each reactor with orange oil and water at 1oz to the gallon. Not the reactor itself just right against the bottom edge.

      I just consolidated a couple compost rings and when I broke the one down, there were ants everywhere. How often should I use the orange oil treatment?

    • @survivalpodcasting
      @survivalpodcasting  4 месяца назад +1

      @@jasonscott9976 As I said I do it once every two weeks. If they have already invaded though I am not sure it will help. I have killed them with it in piles before, i am sure it sets things back a bit though.

    I went to your link, not even 2 months later and this composter is $90! Is the deal over?

    • @survivalpodcasting
      @survivalpodcasting  2 месяца назад

      Yes it was on sale how long do you think a real sale will last. It will likely go on sale again at some point. It is still a good deal if you want one now and you can still get 5% additional off with my discount code.

    Great tutorial! I'm still confused as to when to add trays. If I need to wait for the 1st one to fill up , then worms migrate upward...why are there 5 trays? And when do you use them? Your video has been the most helpful thus far! 🪱

    • @survivalpodcasting
      @survivalpodcasting  2 месяца назад

      say an inch or half inch from the top, add a new tray and add bedding etc to it like the first one.
