love this one Nick. The only thing I did differently was I took a copy of the logo in black, added a blur and dropped it to 60% opacity to place it below the main logo as a drop shadow.
Nick, why is the "Cut" option not working for me? The first two cuts worked perfectly. However, when I tried to cut the circle, it wouldn't work. After some experimentation, I realized the path of the diamond wasn't intersecting the circle (by the tiniest amount) and so wouldn't do the cut. I manually moved the vectors to overlap, but I want to know - why did I have to do this? Why did it work in your video? I know Inkscape has changed, but is there a setting or something that can fix this?
yes, I have the same problem too. But after work around a little bit a finally get the shape like in this lesson, I think it lies on the "object to path" command, in my case DON'T.
Great tutorial as always Nick, as described in some comments below though o am also getting stuck around 6:26 where you delete the two bottom curves of the circle. I have tried several times but they will not delete. Any thoughts you could share would be great!
Can't wait to try this! Also a personal request, can you teach us how to do an Inkscape vector of those images where it's a person's face, but basically posterized, and then each shade is changed into a different color. For example, the red and blue Obama campaign posters from 2008. And I'd love for you to do more Inkscape tutorial that deal with manipulating images and portraits into vectors in general, thanks! :)
Thanks roxoxo. 1.) There's not too much of a difference between Inkscape and Illustrator. Once you've mastered one of them, you can pick up the other in a matter of days. I recently started using Illustrator for some client projects and I haven't run into much problems. It just functions slightly differently. Regarding rights to this photo - I got it from a copyright-free website (Pixabay.) Usually you have to pay for stock photos.
hello Nick, Thank you for this beautiful video. I tried the steps on my computer but I got stuck on 6:26 where you delete those two curves. I tried many times but it ends up in deleting the entire circle or semi. If you could me on this then I will be much happier than ever :)
Hi Nick. Great tutorial, as usual :). Just had one problem with recreating the logo. When i apply the stroke to path function to the logo, the mountains lose their peak. So they have like an M shape at the top of the mountain instead of an A shape. Any idea where i might have messed up? Thank you and keep up the good work!
hey nick am following along but the cut option won't work for me the first two worked perfectly but others are not working for some reason I don't know. I have tried it several times but it's still not working I even recreated the entire design but it didn't work. maybe you could tell me what's the problem
Hi nick, thanks for the tutorials, they're great. I just have a question. When I get to 11:10, and I convert the stroke to path, the points of my mountains disappear and a V forms at the top of them 😕 do you (or anybody else) have any idea why? Thanks again
I'm not sure. Sounds like it might be a glitch - these things happen sometimes when converting strokes to paths. I've had errors similar to that myself. I would try doing it at a different size or stroke thickness, maybe even pasting everything into a new document and trying it there.
Thank you, i shall do just that when i get home, it's frustrating when you follow every step perfectly and something goes wonky right at the end! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Good question. It's just what I'm most familiar with. Most of what I create gets used digitally and for the web, and pixels is usually the main unit of measurement for everything.
Hello. I followed your tutorial and created this mountain logo. But when i put this logo on instagram profile pic then the background is black and logo is hardly visible. this problem diesnt happen in facebook. Any idea how to solve this problem. One more thing when i download the pic as png the logo is having white background but as soon as i put this on insta profile the background turns to black. Strange
I assume it's because the background is just transparent, and different sites have different ways of filling in transparency. I would fill in the background with a white rectangle.
Inkscape is the best free design program in the world. Long life and prosperity for INKS
I appreciate the fact that you repeat over and over the keyboard shortcuts as a beginner it's easier to learn.
HOLY MOLY. The hotkey to place a copy while rotating an object is going to be a huge life saver for me. Thank you
I love the rounded lines
love this one Nick. The only thing I did differently was I took a copy of the logo in black, added a blur and dropped it to 60% opacity to place it below the main logo as a drop shadow.
Whatever works!
Logo is simple but the techniques are everything. Thanks for good work.
At 5:54, the cut path doesn't work with inkscape 1.2.1, but works with inkscape 0.92.5. Guess it is a bug of 1.2.1.
I love the way you say path
hi nick. you don't know me. i don't know you. but i just found your channel. and you have changed my life.
THANK YOU MAN!!! I love your videos..... so informative and inspirational. 🤘👍

@@NHGeneral Well, you need to change the object to a path in order to use the "Cut" option as far as I'm aware.
Love your tutorials man. Thank you!

Hi nick! I really love all of your tutorials. Could you please make a logo with circular grids one of this days?
I wish you released tutorials more often. :)
so good bro
They really should add a 'Duplicate' option in the Transform tool, then making the sunrays pattern will be a lot easier

Pretty sure he has a video like this if you look up 'low poly face or portrait' in his videos.
I'm not sure if I could do a tutorial about that. It's mainly just freehand drawing all the way through.
Thanks
Magic! =)

You make everything so clear in your tutorials! Love watching them and I leaened a lot, so thank you
i don't think it is a big dif. i use photoshop 4. it's all about the layering.

Same problem! did u find a solution? Thx :)
Hey, I been having problem with saving it. I watched your save and export video but didn't help me so can you advice me?
I know all the zoom and scaling settings are right, so why are the lines so thick even at 50 pixels?
How can I make the corners of the square rounded?
May i download all videos of your own masterpiece?
Sure, as long as you're using them for your own personal use and not re-uploading them somewhere else
Yes, I really agree, I just want to learn from your experience how to do it! No more than any... thanks friend ;)
make a logo for gourmet brigadeiro, please...
This has probably been answered many times but why work with pixels as a unit type?
Good question. It's just what I'm most familiar with. Most of what I create gets used digitally and for the web, and pixels is usually the main unit of measurement for everything.
how to install the new theme

What is the difference between duplicate and copy?
William Wagmen for me: duplicate=copy and paste automatically in the "same place" of the canva (;
roxoxo thanks
I am using windows and I cant click and drag the image into inkscape. :(
oh nevermind, i got it! it was a compressed file- i needed to extract it. ^___^"
Permission to take the video:)
Is Inkscape expensive?
its free
everytime i cut path my objexct dissapears
When you cut, some object is shown as selected, press shift and select a color from the color bar.
You have to duplicate the first object so that you still have an object left
Be sure and zoom through so fast its useless.
