Good for you!!! Take control. People that choose powerful dogs MUST train them well. The damage they're capable of is too big. My pup was attacked by 2 shepherds when she was a pup. I was FURIOUS with the owner for not having them under control or muzzled. I work hard with my dobermans training/control.. and expect other owners to do the same.

@@theresac.7897 Sorry for the long reply. Yeah my neighbor's dogs are crazy, too much to type tbh. I love my girl, we didn't know what breed she was other than the owners of the mother dog said "mom was half Anatolian and GSD, dad is unknown but could be our male GSD or the male Pyrenees or a neighboring dog from nearby farms." Tbh I think all three of those dogs were mutts, the mom is clearly also part Malinois AT LEAST because we got two pups from the litter and the mom looked almost exactly like one of the pups. We only got them for free cuz the mom escaped the yard while in heat so they couldn't prove the dad was the GSD or Pyrenees, but apparently they normally breed the mom with the GSD and sell pups for $200. At least they had the courtesy of a DNA test for one of our pups, and deworming them the first round since we got them at 6 weeks old. DNA didn't get results until after we had the pups for a week. If the test was accurate, the bigger pup was Coonhound, Anatolian, GSD, Malinois, Pyrenees, Husky, Malamute, and Akita. We had to re-home her a couple months ago because I'm 125lbs, I have small kids, she was pushing 100lbs and kept bruising me and pulling me down and almost dislocated my shoulder a few times and accidentally knocked over my toddler really hard. But I refused to let her go anywhere until we found a lady who was enthusiastic and almost crying so happy to have her, and my big furbaby was clearly at home the instant we let her into the lady's yard. She has a short fat GSD mix boyfriend now and they hit it off instantly lmao. We kept the smaller more submissive girl because she's gentler with small kids and spooks less. I still love both girls so much, they'll always be my babies 💜💙💚

This is a great technique and it really snaps most dogs out of the mindset they are currently in. I do wanna add though that random people not trained for this may overly exert too much pressure due to actual anger and it can turn abusive. Just because most people aren’t mentally calm all the time. Regardless, yes this is the best way to teach large dogs to cut it out and understand who’s boss if done correctly.

But the way we do positive reinforcement is just the same there is only a 5% part of our training that is different. Yet it is uneducated people for the most that have not done solid research and has just heard somethings being said that sounded like they were good so they must be true and you spread those lies without finding out for yourself the real truth and doing the real research. Because it makes you feel good why not. At the end of the day dogs are dogs and we are not and we cannot use our emotional thinking to work with some behaviors and certain dogs. For the most part positive reinforcement can work on most dogs but there are dogs that require more. They all require leadership and leadership is never pretty all the time. My dog has wolf in him and kept bullying my other dog in a bad way. Left some nasty holes in the skin before.
I eventually had to ramp up my anger to the red, run towards him, and started to grab/shake/scream. On my knees, eye to eye. I knew it had to be done. There was no fear because there was no other option. I literally had to win or his behavior could amplify.
He never did it again for stupid reasons. I let him correct the other dog when appropriate and he does it well.

Hopefully your exaggerating and you did not actually let yourself react in anger because that will just make your dog fearful of you because you're only predictable in the fact that you're unpredictable when you're angry. This is always done in a calm and assertive fashion never do anything with your dog out of emotion.

@@pittymama4500 my neurotic dog killed that habit but the mix with some wolf needed it.
2 years of age and bullying my other dog til there’s deep bite marks on his head many times because he was clearly jealous and after me saying NO in many different ways and it always fails. I gave him a taste of his own medicine. Not the first time I had to pull him off but it was the worst and last. Like the others were a 4 but the last one was a 7.5 on anger scale
The dog would also jump passive aggressive on you if he had a disagreement. He doesn’t do that or bully my other dog anymore. He still corrects the dog but he’s much better at it. Also no random fits of bullying. Also he still loves me.
Also the neurotic dog has gotten better and probably loves me too much. He cried last time I was away for a week. Despite having people.

@@pittymama4500 I chose to do it that way. Give him a taste of his own medicine. He left bad wounds on my other dog other times so it was warranted and he was 2 years old.
He was a bully. Not anymore. He knows why I did it. It was probably good to show him why you do it.
Also I tried it the basic way. I don’t think he feared me enough. Even a loud NO and pulling him off didn’t make him disengage from the other dog though the other dog always submits. He always jumped on me when he had a disagreement.
Also I did like they do in nature. I let him correct the other dog til it goes too far. He’s much better at correcting. Maybe a bit too lenient.

I have a 2 yr old pitbul I rescued. He is all muscle. When he sees another dog he pulls very hard IT takes all my strength to hold him. I pull him in the opposite direction, but he continues to go the other way. Until I get further away. How can I stop this. I'm thinking of getting a no pull harness, or even a slip leash. Can someone help me. I can even put him in the back yard because my neighbors dogs are a cane Corso, and one is a pitbul. They are very aggressive. I think they are teaching my dog to be that way

I really can’t see this working past being an interrupter. Like it might work short term or to suppress it but without other forms of training wouldn’t this cause unpredictable behavior? Or them just doing it when their not in a muzzle/lead? Working short term but causing random outbursts in higher stress situations?

I feel like the biggest cause of so many people's dogs to be so out of control it's because somewhere along the line somebody started a rumor that alpha wasn't real and you could just be your dog's friend and not show them you're the Authority, the boss, the leader, the alpha, not them.

    • @mderksen4432
      @mderksen4432 Месяц назад

Leader yes, dominance no. And it’s not a rumour. You can find the scientific studies on line. The original study that was done with wolves was with individual wolves that were put together in captivity. It was not a wolf pack. When they started to study actual wolf packs in the wild they discovered different behaviour. Submission was offered, it was not forced. Some wolves will leave to start their own pack. Sometimes a wolf outside the pack may challenge the leader and try and take over. It’s possible a dog within the pack may challenge the leader. But there are no dominance fights on a regular basis. Think about it. The wolves need to work together to catch prey to survive. They cannot afford to injure one another. If you are interested look for the actual research and read it yourself instead of talking about rumours.
I have a Malinois. I don’t dominate him. I don’t use prong collars or e-collars. No choke chains or slip leads. Just a regular nylon collar. Yes, these dogs have energy & drive, but if you create the proper relationship and are a truly knowledgeable trainer, they will do just about anything for you.
I wouldn’t let this guy touch any of my dogs.
