      It's ridiculous. Using an exoskeleton for sport is like getting a cable machine with a support motor so you can lift more weights.
      Also there is a cheaper invention that beats this exoskeleton on nearly any terrain. It's called a bicycle. Those can double your effectiveness even without batteries.
      Don't get me wrong. I like the video and I like the invention. This stuff has great applications for working people and for people with medical conditions.
      So, if you like the concept and have the money to spare, buy it, as making this a commercial success will help improve the system and making it more available. Looking forward to the day I'll be to old to walk down the street without support and instead of something with wheels on I'll get one of these :)

    Claire Lomas, a British woman who was paralyzed from the chest down in a 2007 horse-riding accident, became the first person to complete a marathon using a robotic exoskeleton. In April 2012, she participated in the Virgin London Marathon, finishing the 26.2-mile course over 17 days with the aid of a ReWalk exoskeleton. This achievement marked a significant milestone in assistive technology and showcased her determination to raise awareness and funds for spinal injury research .

    • @godleadstheway1
      @godleadstheway1 6 months ago +10

      Tbh if it took 17 days, that doesn't count. Still impressive, but not the first person who completed a marathon using a robotic exoskeleton. If I walked 1 mile a day and completed the marathon in 26 days, that doesn't mean I really "completed" a marathon.

      @babisbabinos8075 A marathon is a challenge because it's something you do at once. Dividing up the marathon into for example 4 runs, running roughly 10 km each time, would defeat both the purpose and the training needed for running 41km straight. If you take pauses, it's not a marathon.

      @drakongaming8537 5 months ago +1

      @UtokoI mean it did still even out a bit, he beat his personal best by only 7 minutes while using both spring shoes and the exo, the shoes are banned because especially in marathon those shoes alone would've shaved 10+minutes off a run by themselves easily, while I haven't personally seen the expo used outside more personally felt them so I can't really say just how big of a advantage they actually reduce, the talking,pit stops and camera do slow u down a bit long-term, talking keeps ur breathing shaky

      I was about to ask the same thing! It would be awesome if the resistance starts stronger at the beginning of a workout, and slowly eases up as fatigue increases.

    • @markhenry64
      @markhenry64 8 months ago +45

      yes! it has a resistance mode, and you can adjust how strong the resistance is. I saw it on another video

    • @voiceofmadness7
      @voiceofmadness7 8 months ago +19

      Instead of buying an expensive gadget, just wear a backpack with water or weights. The increased weight = increased resistance, since your legs need to exert more force to lift more weight off the ground. Do like 5 to 10 pounds at first.

    • @paroikous
      @paroikous 8 months ago +6

      @voiceofmadness7 So it's built in then. The exoskeleton weighs about 4 lb, good start. JK, nothing beats functional training with a backpack or a vest! Kudos for pointing that out. But if we're talking about a hypertrophic response, this could be an interesting study.

  • @Texas240
    @Texas240 9 months ago +10

    This isn't entirely new. In 2007, Oscar Pistorius was banned from running competitions...as a paraplegic missing his legs, because his prosthetics "gave him an unfair advantage over people with legs." Of course, now he's banned from competing for several years as part of his punishment for shooting his girlfriend.

    • @Movieman1965
      @Movieman1965 6 months ago

      I remember that. They called him the "blade runner" I believe. Definitely an unfair advantage to race with non-tech assisted runners.

    • @Texas240
      @Texas240 6 months ago

      @Movieman1965right, but it is ironic that a guy without legs "has an unfair advantage". There's a video game (Kenshi) where it your character loses a limb you can replace it with a prosthetic. Some are cheap and are a detriment. Others are expensive and turn the character into, basically, a stronger cyborg.

    1:36 "It works by using AI to predict how you're moving".... as in it reads the torque in those joints induced by your movement and and amplifies it? I guess "AI" sells better.

    • @michacoine
      @michacoine 6 months ago

      Dude this shit is ridiculous. Unbelievable. AI is not a feature it is an implementation detail. In fact it is the most expensive, slowest way to implement something. But still these dumbasses and I dont use this term lightly these dumbasses eat this shit up like the retards that they are

    • @planespottermerijn
      @planespottermerijn 5 months ago +1

      I think it does a bit more than that. It recognizes what kind of activity/gait you're in, and how that looks for your body specifically. Just following torque would always leave a slight delay/resistance at turns and this allows them to mitigate/stay ahead of that.
      Have read that somewhere online though so don't take this as gospel

    My friend did something similar once. She really wanted to run a marathon but we all told her she was too lazy. But she is a stubborn one and decided to train a bit an enroll. Halfway she was totally wasted and once she realized that the track almost passed her house, she ran out into her yard to smoke a few cigarettes and watch some TV. Afterwards she took a cab to the finish line 😂

    I would have liked more commentary at the end, and the miles with the -7, for example, were what? How many seconds less than your time in the same mile of your PB? I liked hearing you speak in real time, that was actually impressive, but more voice over would have been useful to explain the numbers especially at the half way point. I had to rewind it. Anyway, I love the content, outstanding idea and your usage of the skeleton for a marathon created very useful data for the manufacturer. They should pay you! I was afraid that by adding power at the end you might fall, I was cringing at the thought. You could easily make another video discussing all of the elements that were involved. I’m also curious how long the battery can last on full power and how much that might help, perhaps in a mile run? Maybe you can break 4 minutes? :-)
