    I think the best part of this one, besides that it's extremely simple and functional, is the fact that he built it with OTHER homemade rigs! So many DIY projects on youtube are done by people with professional tool shops and they show you how "easy" it is when they have top of the line equipment to do every part of it.

    How to build a jointer:
    step 1: build a table saw
    step 2: use table saw to build a drill press
    step 3: use drill press to build a table jig saw
    step 4: use all to build a jointer
    nice shop man, awesome :)

    • @hansdegroot8549
      @hansdegroot8549 6 лет назад +3

      1/ Rome was not built in a day
      2/ a jointer is not a tool which a beginner woodworker needs
      3/ people who want to have a jointer at some point, probably have already some woodworking tools
      4/ you can buy a jig saw for less than 40 €, corded circular saw about 50€ and the electric planer also about 50€
      5/ it is possible to build the table jig saw with only a jig saw and a cheap drill
      6/ making things, jigs, other tools is more limited by peoples skills (and mindset) than by tools themselves
      7/ woodworking craft exists for many, many ages. The majority was made with handtools.

      @michaelwilkes0 6 лет назад +1

      yes, all true. I was mostly commenting on how amazing all his other diy tools are. He is clearly skilled. I was trying to make a fun joke about how his entire shop looks like it started with a drill and a saw, which is amazing. I know I am not good at making jokes online, so I usually refrain. looks like I am still bad at it :)

    I'd like to tell you how much you've helped me. You've introduced me to the world of modest building tools. I've been watching your videos for a year now and, although I didn't have much when I started, by now I've made your 4-in-1 drill press, the drill press vice, the jigsaw table and guide, and will make this joiner, too. I have an old house, and there's a lot to do! When I think how I used to spend loads of money contracting local companies to come and do a shoddy job (I live in a little village in the French countryside), I now feel empowered. Well, I did spend a small fortune on tools and screws, but I know I saved a lot, too, thanks to you. Most of all, I've gained a lot of skills I never thought was in me. If I had started out watching the pros on RUclips making things with their industrial workshops, I think I would have been so intimidated that I'd have never dared to try myself. You are a true master at your craft. Thank you! Keep the videos coming!

    Absolutly fantastic. I have a planer I hardly ever use and I need a jointer. Thanks for sharing your build for the rest of us. Im still recouping from BEATING cancer and cannot return to work so I spend alot of time in my little backyard wood shop. I built a table saw using a circular saw, a 10" disc using a drill, a bench belt sander with a hand held belt sander. Looks like I'll finally have a jointer since I do a lot of gluing. Thanks again.

    Hello, just like to say I built this design and am quite happy with how it performs. One tip I would give people is the quality of planer you buy will have a huge impact on your results. Buy a $40 planer.. and you get poor adjustment and blades made of cheese. I wish I had invested a bit more because the design is good. P.S. blade guard is a good idea too. :)
