This year Sky Sports F1 have really outdone themselves with their Formula 1 opening title sequence, and the independent creative studio Coffee & TV were tasked to produce a title sequence that stylistically represents the rebuild of the sport!

Honestly my favourite bit about the 2022 Sky Sports F1 titles is the opening sequence; the car being digitally built up as it rolls into the garage with all the other drivers loading in really sells the "new era" aesthetic, especially combined with the awe-inspiring soundtrack of _Outlands_ by Daft Punk from the score of _TRON: Legacy_ building up to the main action.
the Singapore GP shot from inside the helmet is stunning. A really great BTS video for one of the better Opening Title Sequences I've seen!
I really LOVE these behind-the-scenes videos you've been doing lately! Crazy how you keep pumping them out, hope they don't take this one down!
Wait, did something happened with other videos?
@@williandalsoto806 Yeah, unfortunately the one before this got taken down, hopefully it'll be up again soon 🙏
I actually really like the regular F1 2022 opening titles. I really appreciate that they just shot it for real without any post-compositing. Just the drivers against a led wall.
I kind of agree. They tried something different and it was interesting. My main gripe is how their names and numbers aren't always visible and the order is arbitrary rather than going in constructor order from 2021 (aside from placing Max at the end)
The moment the Ferrari's DRS activates is my favourite cut of the sequence. They isolated the sound and feel executing it perfectly!
The 2013 BBC F1 Intro is hands down my favourite to this day. The way they stitched historical footage of the drivers and iconic racing moments then recreated close up shots using CGI of those moments....sublime! The sound fx, the V10 roars all brought together with Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" soundtrack as the cherry on top makes that Intro the best in my opnion.
Can just here Patrick Stewart
"Round 1, Australia, THIS IS FORMULA 1"
I highly recommend that you check out this intro synced to the chain by Fleetwood Mac , it works so well
YES THIS IS A BANGER
hey tom!
I LOVE that we got the break down for this. I will genuinely watch this whole sequence every. single. time! It just sets the tone for what's to come in such a good way. Great job to the designers. Their hard work definitely paid off!
so trueee
Love his passion for the work and sport. Crazy process, awesome result. Stunning.
So my favourite f1 intro would be this with 2 major changes
- real life footage used in the racing bits
- the soundtrack being changed to 'the chain' - i think someone on twitter did a mock up on how that may sound and it was amazing
For me, you can’t beat the old introduction for BBC Sports to the tune of Fleetwood Mac - The Chain.
this was the BEST opening sequence of anything ever, it’s just soooo incredible. i get goosebumps every time i watch it, wow. they did such a great job
I love the title sequence this year.
very TRON
Fuji TV had some pretty incredible opening sequences during the late 80's-90's. Like, full, moving 3D renderings of current and older cars, drivers and helmets, mechanical components, etc. with all sorts of data (gold for tech-savvy geeks like me) and appropriate engine and ambient sounds, to Truth by T-Square.
A few of their versions (Suzuka 1994, 1995 and 2001) still give me goosebumps to this day. Like, they're up there, if not better than The Chain.
Matt, your video's are absolutly great! You deserve way more attention and subscribers! Keep up this good work!
Your content is top notch!! Loved seeing this BTS. It’s incredible how much work goes into a short sequence!
Matt, please keep doing these videos. Your content has to be one of the BEST on the entirety of RUclips! No random commentary, recaps, fluff predictions... just pure F1 content and education. BRAVO
More to come!
I absolutely love this title sequence…and was actually thinking how did they do that - when did they get a chance to shoot all the video footage of the drivers…and now i know 😊 thanks for posting these behind the scenes videos…absolutely love them!
for me, the 2009 Scream of science is the best one, the opening monologue and the song choices are amazing. I wish there was a modern remake used in a tv broadcast.
It's impressive to see the detail put into the intro, The BBC intro was something else.
This is a really cool video! I love your eye for F1 things, which nobody really talks about. Love that!
Such an amazing video Matt!
Thanks dude!!!
What a cool video. Thank you for showing us I was wondering who made this!!!! It's brilliant congratulations to the team everyone loves it!!!
I think the most funny sequence is when the Merc overtakes RB on the outside what appears to be Brazilian GP.
But then again they didn't know how the seasons gonna start back then so...
Oh and the V10 sounds lol.
Another banger of a video. These behind the scenes clips are so cool.
I would love to know who thought of the shot where a Mercedes overtakes a Red Bull around the outside of a corner. Oh how that hasn't happened this year!
Could someone maybe help me fill in all the circuits featured in the intro please? So far I have:
-Miami
-Bahrain
-Monaco
-Paul Ricard
-Singapore
-Silverstone
-Monza
-Spa
-Red Bull Ring
-Abu Dhabi
Which circuits am I missing?
This is my favourite for years. I liked F1’s own intro in 2019 with the slightly more dramatic music, I wish they would bring that back. The nostalgic ones on ITV in 2006-2008 were incredible too
I really love the 2009 BBC F1 Intro. Great naration and great riff at the end.
It's even better when you play The Chain alongside it.
Unfortunately my provider doesn't broadcast skysports in the Netherlands. I love the intro!
I'm old enough to remember the BBC F1 titles with Fleetwood Mac's The Chain as the theme. Frankly you can't beat the music. The graphics and visuals have moved on a bit, though! 😉 And forever, RIP Murray Walker
this one Is up there but nothing beats the abc 2009 intro, pure class
WHAT a process!
Brilliant animation, really interesting to here the origin, timescale and intricacies about making the title sequence!
This is so great!! Since first seeing it I've wanted to know more about how it was made. Matt out here sating everyone's F1 BTS curiosities.
Very cool. I love the work they put behind putting together this super cool title sequence.
yeah it's a very good title sequence, but i'm still missing "the Chain"
As a huge f1 fan and a 3d designer this so epic!
My kids and I love it....well done great job in explaining the complexities involved. Made for True F1 fans for real...
You deserve more. Keep doing what you’re doing!
3:42 never known TikTok sponsors in F1
its insanee that this is not the F1 official intro , kinda other whole level the skyport intro one
there were inspred and obviously have some f1 fans in their team, to came up with a such original communication tool.
6:14 I like that they made this Alonso shot the first driver you see
nice topic. sky invest lot of money in f1 and always provide awesome coverage but i'm also impressed how much f1 (official) live tv did well with limited team and budget. also the couple "crofty brundle" don't match very well. it's same issue all around the world. the journalist is paired with a driver and drivers live in their bubble, never hanging out with journalists, so, they're not that friendship on air, but f1 live managed to get joylon palmer, whitch is an absolutely adorable and humble person, according to me.
I always figured that sky went for a CGI intro because there was no footage of the new cars racing on track yet.
The shot of George Russell looking at his arm is giving off Iron Man vibes
i love this title sequence much! its fabulous and so well done
Is it just me who saw Mad Bull on that red bulls rear wing at 2:02?
Good spot! This was early doors before any liveries when the look-development artist was unaware if we could use brand names or not! -Obviously we could on the cars but had to remove any on-track branding.
I love these videos mate
Thank you for another great video!
First time seeing it...Loving it!
This year f1 22 intro is very good 👍 and the sky one is good too
BBC 2013 is my favourite title sequence ever
Mine too. Hands down the best one ever.
Do you guys remember the old pre race grid stuff where they’d show a PS2 looking graphic of the starting grid
This is an absolutely wicked video!
It's great intro!
The only bit's I don't like are the music and Croftys voice clips
Better watch this before it gets taken down.
Only if it was set to “the chain” and then it’ll be perfect
Another 10/10 video, Matt!
2:02 "Mad Bull" on the rear wing so maybe the clpoied the liveries
OMG in france the broadcaster probably don't even have 0.001% of that budget for the opening theme xD
Channel 4 intros and itv F1 open titles please
Honestly, having seen the edit with The Chain put back in, I think that is still a bigger hype train than what they used for the real thing.
These 'How ____' series are really interesting!
I love it, but I do prefer the old one. I thought it was badass showing the previous year's title winner and then iconic shots from the season gone by with Crofty doing his magic. I was also looking forward to seeing that opening car not be a Mercedes for the first time, more impactful
2021 is by far my favourite sequence of all time, just something about it made it special
@@Kiko_165 agree
my fav title sequence is probably itv's from... maybe 2000?
I have seen other people on RUclips do there own take on this year f1 22 intro . Go and see them for yourself.
Haha I was wondering this just Sunday
It is definitely better than the f1 intro.
Better than Formula 1 own version ?
No way. Formula 1 theme song is God Level !!
I miss the chain as the music behind the sequence
Bring back the BBC like 2008
i didm't know i needed this
Channel 4 is phenomenal
best f intro is 2009 version with the chain
Should've used Abu Dhabi t4 aswell in the intro! What a shame!
they serve different purposes though, the F1 intro introduces all the drivers but the sky sports one just introduces the show
I love the new sequence, but the BBC 2009 sequence is by far the best
They just need to add Brian Tyler's F1 theme and it would be a thousand times better
2:20 heavy tf2
Why this title always reminds me of Avengers vibe like Endgame sequence
if i won lottery i will ask them an intro for my 3 viewers channel xD
High level computer graphics is some of the most complicated, dark magic shit, relying on so much maths and software engineering. And it's all to make people go "hey that's pretty neat".
Huh I never noticed we had so many tracks referenced, someone needs to make a video looking into that now
Don’t think that requires a video, you can watch through the full version and pause each section to try and work out where it is!
I really need a after effects
4:44
3:30 7:15
They would not have had to change the red bull haha
2009 BBC f1 intro was my favourite as it had fleetwood mac the chain as the music and the cgi was awesome with the car slowly building itself together then racing through iconic tracks, amazing

Honey looks different
damn
Well made, pretty awesome for sure. Can't listen to Sky tho, Feels like Fox for Trump if it comes to Sky for UK drivers
Gotta say I really think the modern titles are overdone. If you're gonna CGI everything, give us scenes of the cars driving that actually look realistic, and stop dubbing V10 sounds over when we haven't had that for 17 years.
The editing and pacing of the intro is good, but the whole aesthetic of it looking slightly worse than Tron Legacy just feels weird to me.
RUSSELL COULD WIN A RACE IF HE WAS IN POWERFUL REDBULL
2017😉😉😉joke
I don't like it, seems too CGI and like a video game. wish they had just shown raw footage instead.
I do really love this intro but for me I still like the actual F1 intro more
I love how they showed a merc overtaking a Red Bull lolololol, typical bias
Or could it be reference to Hamilton's multiple passes at Sao Paulo in 2021 when he won from 10th on the grid? No bias from true fans.
@@JonnyGrew They should have added a rocket 🚀 then, in reference of the engine that made all the work. If you watch 90% of the overtakes , youll see the car outperforming the others in the last corner only
