Master of Voice please react to the song “Mi Juventud a los 40” from Miguel y Miguel ft Sera Ramirez
Master of Voice um abraço meu amigo, vejo que você é uma pessoa que sabe o que ouvir.
Richard got the idea for Karen singing this when he saw Bette Midler sing it on The Tonight Show. Written by the legend Leon Russell and Bonnie and Delaney, they used to have Rita Coolidge sing it on tour, calling it The Groupie Song. This song and Joan Baez' Diamonds and Rust were the songs from the early 70's that stand out to me.
For me it is the depths of color to her voice. People say soothing but I always find so much melancholy in the depths of that vocal. The original was called Groupie and is the voice of a more experienced woman. Karen’s vocal on this despite the depth seems so more the voice of a less worldly woman. Just remarkable.
She is my favorite singer bar none. She sang from the heart. Beautiful personality too.
I had heard before that Karen Carpenter was typically a one take recording artist...she was the real deal, one of the greatest natural talents ever.
@Keith Stewart : Yep, she was known as "One Take Karen" in the music industry. Still is.
I remember, years ago, attending an audio engineer’s conference, and I spoke with one of the assistant studio engineers who had worked on some of the vocal tracking sessions with Karen. He said that not only was she an incredible lead singer, but that she was also flawless at doubling her own vocal, and it was effortless for her to pick out and sing even the most complex harmony intervals with Richard. He told me that in the half dozen sessions that he worked on with her, he remembered her only ever doing two takes just one time, (I think he said it was the vocal tracking session for “Hurting Each Other”) and that after the first take, wanting to get a second take wasn’t at Richard’s urging, or anyone else’s... it was Karen who decided to do a second take.
After the second take, when she asked Richard and the other studio personnel which take they thought was best, one of the engineers replied with, “Gee, Karen, I don’t know, but if you want, we can flip a coin to decide”... because everyone there thought that both performances were so stellar, it was impossible to decide which take was best... because they were both impeccable.
😊🙏
😊
She had a gift from God no doubt.
Keith Stewart And to think she didn’t think she could sing....
Also very highly regarded as a drummer - Even Buddy Rich considered here to be quite talented.
A truly beautiful voice, so much clarity and control. She left us far too soon.
Pop Land Maybe the Angel Melodius needed a voice to match his songs.
Yes, how sad it is that we have been missing her music for all these years. One can only wonder what she might have achieved and the music we would have had if she had lived out her life. We are so lucky to have lived in an age where we will always be able to listen to her beautiful voice.
Yes, sweetness and such sadness in her sound. We were so lucky to have had her. I guess God wanted to hear her up there, can't blame him.
No auto tune needed with Karen.
I especially love her voice in the lower register.
Karen’s voice was like fine silk.
She had incredible pitch, and great control of her vibrato. Her tone is, well... indescribable. Sublime, unique, haunting...
And Richard was an incredible musician and arranger.
There have been, and will be, other fantastic singers...
But there will never be another Karen Carpenter. Ever.
🙏
So perfectly said Donny. Your description was just sooooo accurate and worded wonderfully.
I tend to agree with you. She may be the greatest female singer of all time. The other one I might mention, is Ella Fitzgerald in her younger years.
Good description. Her voice is like silk and it's low, amazing. I don't know about Richard. They wrote very few of their hits, if any.
I don't know about vibrato. Is it natural, or do you have to train to learn it? Is at the front of the mouth like Whitney Houston appears or in back like Karen Carpenter appears?
@@NeverforgetElvis You can hear the pain in her voice. Hauntingly beautiful.
She’s the absolute best singer I’ve ever heard. She’s so smooth and silky with her voice. Amazing.
What is amazing is not just her voice which is so warm and lovely but her diction which you know what she is saying beside singing the song. That to me, there isn't anyone that can express herself so "clearly" and perfect pitch. Amazing songstress!
I completely agree. I have more recently rediscovered the Carpenters. Karen's voice is pure, clear, precise, and has an impressive range. That is not all though, she delivers a richness and emotion better than any singer I have ever heard. I will also give a callout to Richard. Carpenter here too. He created, found, and arranged the songs Karen sang. He created the band as well. In a way, Richard delivered
to you the music Karen sang. Kudos to them both.
She had the clearest and purest voice of any singer and was truly a great artist. Her vibrato and extensions were amazing.
Peter I thought I heard she didn’t think she was that good singer; considered herself a drummer first. Sad, she was great all around.
I love her song called "You"
Gorgeous song!
Yes Peter!!! Well stated. Her beauty, grace, control and command are astounding.
I totally agree!!! She was such a huge gift to the world!!!
Sometimes her singing will bring tears to my eyes, just from the beauty of her wonderful voice.
Same here...
Sometimes, her singing DOESN'T bring tears to my eyes.
same here
Same here
Louis Wiley I cry every time I hear her and Judy garland. And I am not a cryer
Karen Carpenter was in LA, walking into a restaurant, and John Lennon was walking out- he stopped and told her she had a fabulous voice. She had a voice that was beautiful, pure, and so unique. She is missed- RIP, Karen.
No auto-tune here, baby. Her voice is the real deal: flawless and beautiful. God bless you, Karen.
As a boy living during her time I fell in love with this woman. Her physical beauty drew me, but her voice... it was so pure, sweet, gentle and sincere that it deeply stirred my emotions like no other woman ever had or ever would, even to this day. To me, her song exemplified the unique creation and beauty of true femininity.
I agree. Do you remember this line she sang?, "...and when my life is over, remember when we were together; we were alone and I was singing this song for you." Little did we know how prophetic those lyrics would become.
Imagine having her sing you to sleep each night
@@wlonsdale1yea & thru YT, we can get the second best option, whenever we want
Hard to believe she saw herself as fat and not good. She thought people we’re lying to her about her voice.
Then when people dressed her in the long sleeves to hide the skin and bones she thought it was to hide her looks.
Very well said, Robert. Thank you.
The most beautiful voice ever Karen touched your soul.
Paul Wilson I have always thought that it’s because you felt she was singing to you not just her singing the song.
@@teamcougars Exactly. She is singing to ME.
"Make believe it's your first time" then she hits you with "And I'll make believe it's mine". I burst out crying.
I said the same thing before i saw your comment. Great minds think alike
The Carpenters are not my kind of music at all. That being said I could listen to Karen all day. Her voice transcends musical styles. In fact, since I'm stuck at home, maybe I will
Karen’s voice is the most beautiful sound I think I’ve ever heard. It actually hurts to hear her songs now.
Rick Jangle I know what you mean. I do love to hear her voice. She never felt at ease on stage like this, but she never shows anything but enjoying performing. She would also perform her own backup vocals.
Rick Jangle it does hurt. I just broke out in tears. I loved the seventies. Everyone I loved was alive.
Laura Salveson i know what you mean Laura. It’s the same with me. You take care and stay well.
Agreed. I’m one who doesn’t experience strong emotion very often, but listening to these clips brought me to tears. What a gift.
Yes,I know what you mean,as much as I loved Karen, hearing her singing now chokes me up but also takes me back to my youth. She was a beautiful young lady taken far too soon.
Karen Carpenter's singular, impossibly alluring voice is hard to quantify. Let me take a stab, for my adoring brothers and sisters who cannot, adequately. She had a startling range, from the richly contralto to the sweetly sub-soprano lilt. I have never heard a female voice who was her equal, and I have plundered the depths of music from the 20's to the early oughts... where any audiophile with a whit of taste might have given up all @#$$! hope. She was one in a trillion. She will never be duplicated. Ever.
I have avoided all of her brother's OCD attempts to "improve" on what he and his sis did. But one conclusion I have come to? NO recording of Karen Carpenter's voice is not worth owning, and hearing, and cherishing. This qualifies.
did you know that karen carpenters singing voice lowers high blood pressure? yes.. her singing voice is one in a trillion.
Yes, effortless perfection. I think you are quite correct in your summation; one in a trillion.
You are so right about Karen. There is a young girl who's voice touches your soul like Karen's did. Her name is Angelina Jordan. She has lots of videos on RUclips, but listen to this Adele cover. Pure silk. Thanks! ruclips.net/video/QHLtZQ3sIwE/видео.html
timothy mackin We loved Carpenters in the U.K. Karen was a unique talent never seen before or since. Truly one of the greats of all time her voice has never been replicated by any other singer.
Hi, something similar happens with the voices of Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad (the voices of ABBA), are unic, never i has found similars (i have listen music for 50 years), less equal or superiors to Agnetha specially, many similars, but never equal or superior, quality, perfomance....
I'm a 33 years old man and i must say Karen is my favourite female singer of all times. Love your voice, is amazing.
Greetings from Argentina.
Best female vocalist ever, BAR-NONE!!! The resonance, timbre, inflection, etc., in her majestic voice was majestic. And by the way, she was also a world class drummer!!!!!!
She got high praises from Buddy Rich.
I don't care how many times I hear this song...it gives me full body chills and tears in my eyes as soon as I hear "Long ago, and oh so far away..."
AMONG HER MANY FANTASTIC attributes was also her PERFECT diction and enunciation.. the greatest i've ever heard from any male or female singer...
You’re a very sensitive and observant man. You see and hear aspects of Karen’s singing that are so nuanced. What a gift you have.
Karen Carpenter’s voice in my opinion is unparalleled by anyone. No one has ever sounded like her before or since. As soon as you hear her voice it gives you chills. I cannot think of anyone with that special gift that she had. Have you noticed that the people who were gifted with unlimited talent
Are never on this earth very long. Karen and Elvis come to mind.

PURE Silk! 💕
actually it's from 1971.. karen was ONLY 21! and the recorded version of this song "superstar" was recorded on 1 take! reading the lyrics off a napkin!... incredible otherworldly...
Her version is from the 70s, but I believe the song is from the 60s....she was one of my all time favs, I knew just about every song she did. Loved this and top of the world, all heck, I loved every song she and the Fifth Dimension sang.
@@calme-dx2dp Just to add some info; The Carpenter's released theirs May 1971. The original is 1969, written by Bonnie Bramlett & Leon Russell, recorded by Delaney & Bonnie & Friends (Leon Russell on piano, Eric Clapton on guitar). Rita Coolege, who’d been Leon’s girlfriend, later said she helped write it and should have received credit (which Bonnie didn’t know till years later). The “Friends” (in DB&F) were a rotating group of crazy talented people including; Leon Russell, Rita Coolege, Eric Clapton, Duane & Greg Allman, George Harrison and many more. Jimi Hendrix even asked to play with them once. Delaney & Bonnie divorced in 72, which ended the band (but there’s lots of DB&F on RUclips). Both Delaney & Bonnie went on to perform with other musicians. Their daughter, Bekka Bramlett, joined Fleetwood Mac after Stevie Nicks left. Bonnie (then married to musician Danny Sheridan) played Bonnie, Roseanne’s friend/co-worker on The Roseanne show. In 2016, Bonnie sang Groupie/Superstar at Leon Russell’s memorial.

@@wnsafford1854 ok...I knew the song was done before, thanks for the link and the info. Still like Carpenter's version best though...brings back much childhood memories hearing her sing.
karen carpenter was THEE ultimate "crooner" and the ultimate singer who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU... also a true master of storytelling of every song she ever sang.. a lost art among most male and female singers today.
Your comment couldn’t be most accurate. You described her singing talent incredibly well. She is truly the ultimate crooner, a female crooner. And yes. She sings to you, to your soul. Omg I loved your comment. It’s wonderful to remember her as she deserves
No auto tune either. I know that Elton John said she had one of the best voices of all time. Coming from someone like him as well, that’s a big complement. Lionel Richie always loved her voice as well. I think with those two gentlemen and you agreeing… It cements it for me. Outstanding.

Who doesn't??
To me the Best woman voice ever!!! I really love Karen Carpenter RIP. My Daddy used to listen their music even we are from Mexico he loves english music and he raised me that way. Thank you sweet Andy.
@Michael Asay that's cool
"Karola" Spanish music is so esoteric. Boring and pretentious actually.
Listening to Karen Carpenter sing is an emotional experience now if you heard her growing up. The voice and the songs she sang are always with you.
When I was born she has died already. I was born in the 80s but my parents would play her songs from time to time. Now In my late 30s I seek her songs here and I get very emotional. Incredible experience. She was truly unique
Yes!
The fact that Karen had so much genuine sadness in her life makes her singing that much more poignant. We lost a truly irreplaceable icon FAR too soon. Happy Birthday in heaven, you Angelic Alto! ♥️
You are beautiful, I am SergioValentín from mendoza-argentina
But Richard pushed her to sing, she did not want to sing but to play her drums. Watching her playing her drums you can see she was genuinely so happy
I think that made her singing that much more emotional. People connected with her.
Her voice tone is incredible. Thank you Andy for this tiny time machine back.
My pleasure!
She's my favorite female singer of all time. This song gives me chills - for more than one reason. Look at her pretty maxi skirt, too. Makes me want one just like it!
So agree Diana!!! Just amazing! Maxi Skirt....i was wondering what it was called!!! Hope you find a maxi skirt!!! I bet you will look stunning in it!!!!
KAREN definitely had a superstar unique one of a kind special voice for sure
You hit it on the head, the purity and clarity, plus that tone in her voice..OMG! Her voice is hauntingly angelic. Singing is lost today in the screamers.
Karen's voice brings tears, & chokes me up every time I listen to her sing.
TAKE NOTE TODAYS SINGERS! THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE WITHOUT NEED FOR TODAYS AUTO TUNE.
Today we would say that Karen suffered from social anxiety disorder, which, along with her perfectionism, fueled her eating disorder. She was much more comfortable playing the drums while she sang. But when the execs realized that the success of The Carpenters was on her shoulders, they insisted that she be up front, where she was never really comfortable. That was the beginning of her serious anorexia, which led to her death from heart failure at age 32. Once again the music industry injects their will and destroys another life (that may be a bit much). That's why I'm always happy to hear that another young artist has avoided the clutches of the music execs. This is my favorite Carpenter's song. So many super talented young artists, gone too soon: Karen, Mama Cass, Eva Cassidy, Patsy Kline, etc. Thanks Andy. Everything you said about her voice is exactly how I feel. The closest person I see today that can become as good as Karen is Angelina Jordan. And she's already fantastic. Best wishes, Andy. Billy J
Psychiatry manufacturers new names for old problems, so they can charge $200+ an hour. in reality there's no science involved in the "practice" of psychiatry. it should not even be categorized as a medical doctorate.
@@frankpaya690 As you probably know, psychiatry is a field of study after one is already an MD; usually an extra three or four years. It has evolved from the Freudian behavioral model into a purely biological explanation of behavior---change the body's chemistry, change the behavior. So very few psychiatrist practice counselling psychology. They have become, for the most part, pill pushers; if one pill doesn't work, let's try another, or several at once. Behavioral therapy is practiced mostly by counselling psychologists (Ph.D.s), and some people with Master's Degrees also. But that doesn't mean that "social anxiety disorder" is not real. It just means that there is disagreement on how we will go about treating it---pills or counselling.
No execs, Richard brought her out front, and even though she wasn't comfortable at first, she adjusted, she was a performer. Just watch their TV specials, it's her that is out going and having fun! It was the obvious, and right move by him. Her emotional problems went way beyond that.
There are videos where you can clearly see how warped the mother was. Mom was one of those women who worships, loves, and supports the masculine and attacks, undermines, and/or ices out the feminine.
@@Mr.56Goldtop I only meant that her anorexia was exacerbated by her social anxiety disorder and being pushed to the front. She, like almost all girls, developed her eating disorder during her teenage years. So the disorder had been with her for years. And it often stems from an over-controlling parent. Usually the father, but in her case I believe it was her mother (not sure). Since anorexia stems from family dynamics, it is very difficult to treat, because eating disorders are symptomatic of underlying causes. Since it is difficult to deal with the underlying cause (family control issues), the symptoms get treated---eating behavior. And many never deal with the real cause(s). And with some, it is fatal.
Arguably the finest female vocalist ever recorded.
no argument here
Got my vote.
I agree, the best voice ever.
What is there to discuss? No argument whatsoever.
I don't like to compare, I ADORE KAREN CARPENTER. But the finest singer who ever lived and nobody will ever reach her, until further notice, was Judy Garland
In my opinion, Karen was one of the greatest singers that ever lived. No one in my opinion had such a gorgeous voice, She felt every word she sang and you always felt she was only singing to you. I was so in love with Karen. She not only touched our hearts but our soul with that voice, and too this day I stop what I am doing when I hear that one and only voice. No one touches my heart so deeply as Karen did. I can just imagine how Herb Alpert must have felt when he heard her voice for the first time. She was phenomenal and combined with her Brother Richard. They could not be surpassed. So loved and so missed. Karen!!!! Her voice was Perfection!!!
You can not listen to Karen sing and not fall in love with her voice. Being 64 years old I have been a Hugh fan of the Carpenters from the start. I never get tired of listening to them. No one can copy her or sound like her. Female artist today will never reach her level of perfection.
Oh my goodness, this one gets me right in the heart. I remember getting her album as a kid and listening to it over and over in my room at night. So absolutely beautiful! Thank you for bringing us some old school super goodness. Rich, velvety voice. Stunning really.
Her vibrato control was magnificent! Severely lacking in most of today’s singers (except for Lady Gaga).
Oh God, Karen was a great artist, maybe the angels' songs sound like her voice. The band Sonic youth made a cover of this song. Thanks
I would like to donate by mail. Please provide your address or p.o. box.
Nobody can match the sheer beauty of Karen's voice. She was one of a kind.
@Chuck Anya Vandross's version is excellent. And at the very same time, it is miles away from the specialness Karen was able to imbue it with. This is exactly why I think it's hugely foolish to try to cover a Carpenters song. Even if you do it extremely well you'll still be a distant second.
When Karen died the angels cried out “ HERE COMES OUR LEAD SINGER”
You betcha
Isnt that the truth!
She ate her last meal with her parents on florence ave in Downey at Bobs Big Boy!
Aww, that's beautiful.

@@bluebear7061 I know what you mean. We need that now more than ever. Be safe, listen to her beautiful voice and lose yourself in the moment. God bless you.
This is a song. This is a singer. Nowadays music is 99% trash!

Right on!
Don't give up hope. We can teach them to sing instead of rap!!!
I think your figure is too low 😱🤓
so so true - when you listen to older music - you really get that - artists really had talent - no tricks - just talent.
She was awesome. The harmonies at the end of "Merry Christmas, Darling" still gives me chills to this day!
Voice of an angel. I forget how good she was and then you hear her on the radio and you think "damn".
Yeah and every year at Christmas time you hear her on radio and in stores. I'm still mesmerized when I hear the perfection of her voice.
Karen Anne Carpenter was a consummate perfectionist. She could sing a song perfect the first time. And she'd still want to redo she was definitely hard on herself. And it showed with her beautifully haunted voice.
"Loneliness is such a sad affair" those lyrics are way too close. I can feel her sadness and loneliness. Breaks my heart. We loved you Karen.
You forgot to mention that Karen is a true contralto, which is the rarest registry for female singers. Her low singing voice is what gives her such a distinct sound.
I totally agree unique and beautiful velvet voice
Good point
I'm a contralto but I screw singing
Absolutely. For those of us that don't know much about the technical aspects of music, but have an advanced appreciative sense, that is the most immediately noticeable characteristic of Karen's divine gift, that unusually low register. Mr. Master of Voice makes some superb and informed observations in his commentary.
What is distinct about her singing in this range is her gentle purity of voice and the ease with which she does those low notes. Most contralto singers have a huskier, edgier hue to their voice.
Karen was SUBLIME
Her voice is liquid gold
One of the most beautiful voices ever! She died on February 4th, 1983. I just absolutely love her, I came to know her from The Karen Carpenter Story and have loved her voice and Richard's playing for so many years. Such a loss! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on her, she truly is a one in a million!
No nudity or trashy anything but pure voice unlike most of the crap we have today. I feel sorry for the young people.
Don’t feel sorry for us, we get both the old stuff here and the new stuff too!
@@lazybelphegore6748 " and the new stuff too!" - That´s the problem.
"Rainy Days and Mondays” and “Superstar” are my favourites and both magnificent
The clarity, and 'clean-ness' of her voice, without 'ornamentation', and the smoothnes of note and timbre changes, almost no vibrato needed to hold the notes. Sublime.
Have you heard her Ave Maria, Little Altar Boy, Ordinary Fool...?? Less instrumentation, more #voice!!
Dude, I was five when this song came out and still rank this as one of my all time favorite songs. Karen’s voice rules!
An icon with a very distinctive voice. Listening to this song takes me back to my teenage years. Another icon gone way to soon.
Your reaction to her first note is exactly how I feel every time I hear her sing. Her voice is so peaceful, so soothing. She was such a master of her voice and omg the control! the pitch! the tone! What a beautiful sound!
When she came on the radio, there was never any question who was singing, you immediately knew!
She was so natural that she wouldn’t have known what a chest tone or a head tone was then. I started listening to her in 1970 -71 when I was around 24, 25. I hadn’t started going to the opera yet, but I certainly recgnized a good voice and she had one of the best.
I love her. I was born in 70's and grew up with her songs until she passed. This is my most favorite song. and Her voice melts my heart and so does your face.
The most beautiful voice God ever created. Aaron Neville is second.
Her lower range when sung brings me to tears EVERY time! ❤️😓
Her voice melts my brain... liquid flows out of the corners of my eyes.. :^)
It melts your brain.
Karen's voice is a little glimpse into heaven.
I liked your analysis about the vowels migrating and different colors in her vocals. She is so captivating. Thanks!
It's just a tragedy she died so very young. She should have had a very serious intervention to get her help get her nutrition. That voice is so beautiful. Her phrasing her delivery so perfect. What a haunting melody so well delivered. She was also so pretty.
Agreed. Her diction, intonation and articulation are
impeccable. Richards arrangements were likewise brilliant. His use of classical
instruments (clarinets, flutes, oboes, French horns, trumpets, strings) as well
as the harp-like Wurlitzer electric piano (which is less bright than the
outstanding Rhoades piano) compliments her lovely voice. He wrote for her in
the proper key. Karen's beautiful vibrato is worth mentioning as well as
Richards sweet Wurlitzer piano "fill" at 8:00 (I always anticipate
this every time it hear it). Brilliant!
Does anyone ever also mention Karen Carpenter's drumming abilities? HOLY SHIT!! That is so often overlooked with her vocal prowess. She's a female Buddy Rich on the drums!! Her abilities were amazing.
If I remember she started to sing in a higher range, but someone made a suggestion to drop a bit.The rest was history.
Karen Carpenter was my inspiration to become a singer, as the matter of fact my English teachers left me as a home task to listen her songs for the excellent and clear pronunciation, Karen was a pure voice, one of her kind, I know all her repertory. It’s a pity she passed away so young , one more star in the sky.
Karen had one of the most clear, crisp and angelic singing voices that ever existed on earth. Such a beautiful and natural talent. The world was so heartbroken to have lost such a sweet and beautiful soul. I’m sure she must be singing along with the angels in heaven. We were all blessed to have been given her wonderful songs. Her and her brother also had wonderful harmony singing together. He was also blessed with an amazing musical talent. It always touches my heart and I still get teary-eyed whenever I hear their songs... even so many years later. Love you Carpenters! ✌🏻❤️🕊✨🙏🏻
Yep she was a perfect 10, 5 stars, the gold standard... the only other voice I could think of that has such perfection and quality, Nat King Cole... JMHO.

I had watched a video, where Karen had said in this video, she was having dinner in a restaurant, as she was leaving, John Lennon was entering the restaurant, and John told her she had a beautiful voice, she said she was surprised and grateful to hear him tell her that.
I was lucky to see them live many times from '72-76 and met them once backstage in '75. Always perfection and both such nice people. Karen was my inspiration to play drums in high school. Always loved and always missed, but what a musical legacy.

Iconic, bell-clear contralto. Absolutely a unique talent!
Another masterpiece is 'Little Altar Boy', one of Karen's most hauntingly beautiful performances.
Very true she had one of the best unique voices ever and really touched your heart ❤️
The Carpenters have created a lot of beautiful songs including rainy days and Mondays, superstar, a song for you, this masquerade, solitaire, and close to you. Karen is my favorite female singer. She could convey emotion perfectly through her voice.
“Superstar” is my favorite. A unique deep-voiced female singer.
You have a very sweet way about you.
Yes, he does!
Definitely a super cool person
There are so many timelessly gifted pop singers (I'm excluding opera singers b/c I think it's apples and oranges) who have graced us with their incredible talent over the decades, but Karen Carpenter is perhaps the only one whose voice -- just for the pure sound of it -- can bring me to tears. Nat King Cole comes pretty close, as well. Guess I'm a sucker for transcendent clarity and tone.
Natural talent, like an naturally gifted athlete, not much you can teach.
I really enjoyed your review of Karen's unrivalled singing. It feels like she breaks your heart and then fixes it better than before...
A voz que mais me emociona. Cantava com a alma. Não soava artificial pois não precisava de firulas para aparecer. Uma mulher com voz de anjo q foi morar no céu
Her voice gives me chills. Awesome performance! Her hair ain’t bad either
Shes stunning also , a beautiful talent and a beautiful woman in all respects
She had one of the most beautiful voices I Have ever heard. I was born in 1970 so I too grew up listening to her.
Your narrative is gloriously well said. Her voice is even better in the studio version without the echo.
I haven't listened to Karen sing in years and your right she is an Icon and one of the best ever.

A great loss for the creative world. Enjoyed the perfect illustration of Karen Carpenter's voice. Thank you.
I cry every time I hear hear her sing, and I'm a pretty macho guy! Grew up listening to the Carpenters too. There is no female vocal better (in my opinion). Anyway, I hear your love for her in your analysis, and I share that feeling just as deeply. Nicely done!
Do you know something sir? You seem to be very nice. You also know your stuff because I don’t notice everything that you do. Also… What amazes me is that you said something another famous singer said about Karen.... you both said that she could hold a note so well and that her breathing hardly changed at all. I think you both use the word effortless
Oh yes I feel the same way how she melts my heart with her liquid silk vc I was born in 68 and this music played well into me growing up. And still bust out the albums. Doctors offices dentist office visits being a little girl in the car all that. Sometimes I can’t help but cry 😢 because of her life story
You perfectly describe Karen Carpenter, she is my favorite. There will never be another like her! So nice of you to be sharing, Thank you
My very first album. And she still makes me melt! Heaven Sent. But they took her back way too soon!
