You've inspired me during this lock down.. I've just taken my SDS drill to the bathroom.. only problem is I have no idea what I'm doing lol
No worries you will figure it out. Lol
😅
That's a drill though right ? 🤣
I don't have experience with that you let me know how it went
How'd the remodel turn out?
Best thing about owning your own place is being able to learn new stuff without worrying about screwing up someone else’s. I call my house my lab.
Wow it’s about time you got a track saw so happy and excited. Got one about 3 weeks ago love it. Thanks for keeping up with the DEWALT tools love then thanks for posting such great videos
As a construction worker all of my life now retired, I can relate to your wanting to work on your own house. I have almost totally rebuilt my house over the years. The first thing I did many years ago, was replace all of the windows. I would come home from work every day, take out an old window and put a new one in. After 8 days, I had all new double hung double glass insulated windows. Later I started to replace the deck on the back of the house. After finishing, the deck turned into a den with six windows, a white oak bookcase. I am now about to build another shop in the back yard just for woodworking. It never ends but rewarding and fun. I see you have a nice boat in the garage, my existing shop in the back has a nice Harley-Davidson in it.
That's funny, I hired an electrician once that lead me to a bathroom/kitchen upgrade.
I had him wire a light above the sink.
He dropped a hammer on my vanity which cracked the top.
I bought a pedestal sink to replace it,
Had to take out vanity, which led to a flooring issue.
Ended up replacing/upgrading flooring in connected kitchen.
That lead to a matching back splash.
Which led to me to making the connected sunroom a laundry room.
Believe your dedicated hammer drill uses different bits. Use my Milwaukee and never have problems burning bits. He'll I use it to dig post holes, with a spade bit.
J C plumber here, please no pedestals
Houses are like onions. Peel back the top layer, and you soon start peeling away many more, each one more rotten than the last one!!!
'Fess up JC,how much did you pay the electrician to drop the hammer ?😉
Walk around with with a broom stick letting the end bounce to find hallow spots, it’s a true back saver and you can hear the difference quite noticeably. It works really well for finding hallow tile flooring as well.
By pulling the OSB down, you may have caused it to follow a depression in the concrete floor which it was previously "bridging". Its possible now that the piece of hardwood will have a gap underneath. Instead of just putting in the tapcon, it should have been checked with a long straight edge to see if the OSB was "in plane". If it was, and you wanted to eliminate the gap, then drilling a hole and pumping in some PL into that void is one way to give support to the OSB in that area.
Good stuff right there!
@@ethanboggio3314 yup
I've used a ton of tapcons for electrical work. Always used a impact to drive them, I usually use hex head ones though. The sds bits always last longer than the ones that come in the tapcon box.
The kitchen... keep the base cabinets, change the top cabinets, and get matching doors for the base cabinets. I’d make the doors myself and the drawer fronts. Well, I’d make the cabinets, but that’s not needed unless you’re a madman like me. Then I got to the end of the video... you’re a mad carpenter like me after all! Good man!
Use an sds for drilling concrete.. you will never go back.
TurboFlush funny how he buys a brand new sds drill and hoes back to the crappy drill for all those holes in the floor. The only reason the bits would melt is if you hit rebar. Just stop and move over an inch diagonally then try again.
@@badbatch974 or get a better bit.
Most name brand sds are good though and will chew threw bar. ( Just takes awhile). Look at the packaging when you buy.. it will indicate metal.
Concrete bits that are just a round shank were originally for a regular spin-a-ma drill. Adding the hammer helps.
Hammer, impact, and sds are all different in how they function, and all offer bits
Combi drills not designed for what he’s doing
Unless you’re drilling hollow block then a regular hammer drill is way better. They just hit too hard and usually blow the back out of the cells and fasteners won’t hold half the time..
@@fishrrelaxing9361
I use sds to drill into hollow all the time.. no prob.
Sds has more percussions per minute. Not sure if they got harder.
I’m guilty of jumping from one project to the next in my house as well. I started with cabinets and now I’m working on an ultimate rolling work bench...kitchen still isn’t done. lol
Chris B. My wife always asks why I do this. Feels like your progressing more than you actually are lol
Chris B. Is that a rule or something? I know I’m super awesome at starting jobs. If you need one started give me a call. Still looking for job finishers in my area..... 😂
Guilty as charged!
Screen shot to show my wife! Lol.. I’ve got half a workshop in the garage built, 7/8 of a pantry done, 90% of the kids bathrooms, a good portion of the kitchen tore out.. 1/2 the laundry room cabinets done and 3/4 of the tile floor, half a hallway floor tile done, trim and base missing everywhere, and popcorn ceiling still hanging from areas I’ve partially scrapped it 🙈! Its so hard trying to remodel an entire house with a family of 5 living in it at the same time.
Fish R Relaxing lol if I had a family it’d be the same I’m sure. Btw scraping popcorn ceiling is not fun lol I did it to my house and it was painted :/
Holy fuck bud your brother in law in my hero with that truck . - new Ram 1500 owner
I couldnt tell you how many times I have snapped the heads off of a tapcon using an impact driver! I just learned something, and never once did I ever think to read the box. Nice video your house is looking great!
😂😂😂the room temperature challenge! That’s what I’m talking about!
So many great ideas in one short video! Talk with the real estate agent about the house across the street, & the “Scum Bag” situation. Invite your local boys in Blue to run a sting operation, until they bust those bad guys. Doughnuts, & coffee go a long way, on those late nights.
Anyone found in my house at night will be found there in the morning....
@@JDBOMBDOTCOM anyone found in my house will never be found again
Shiplap around stairwell looks great.
I have almost exclusively Milwaukee tools and i CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE DEWALT 60V TRACK SAW!!!!!! Absolute game changer
Wow! First, Happy New Year 2021, blessings for you and your family! I’ve been a subscriber almost from the first video I watched! Now, I can say this is one of the rarest channels that my wife and 18-going-on-21 daughter enjoy! Awesome content! Have to say, my hat to you and sorry the wife got mad: mine, too! Thank you for your ideas and humbleness! God bless you all!
I don't know about putting down OSB on concrete. Any moisture getting under the hardwood will make the OSB disintegrate over time.
I loved that bull nose wrap around those wall. wow! amazing. It looks great -thanx for the idea -big job and excellent workin your home
Rich, great work. In the future you can get a bit for the sds and reduce the fatigue on the regular drill if you need to do a big area. It will also drill the holes much faster.
Wow I love your channel I get the best ideas from your channel. Keep up the good work.
Use your sds with a 3/16 bit then vacuum hole. Use silicone then stick a wire 1/8 thick electric wire till you hit the bottom of hole. Finally drive a 2 1/2 wood screw beside wire.
Depending on the tile work, I have had much success removing tile with a small 3 lb. sledge. Don't hit too hard and start dead center of the tile. The tiles break off in large pieces and the thinset is almost all stuck to the tile! Just a little thinset here and there to chip off the floor at the end.
8:45 Dude! You're lucky you're still alive! You need to keep her and keep her happy because she is golden! I can only imagine her comments when she walked in the door to see what you had done.
I got the cheap harbor freight version. It's AWESOME for pulling up tile floors.
Send the broken one to AvE!
Oooofff, down the rabbit hole you go. Happens to me all the time.
Man oh man that is a lot of work!! I do not live in Texas...... but OSB directly on concrete? No moisture concerns? And will OSB hold flooring nails?
It’s good to have a project! 😃 your going to get in trouble anyway. 😂😃. Great video.
You should do another run of those shirts. My son and half my friends want one bad since they saw mine.
Sounds a lot like my old M60 tank. Semper Fi.
Loving your work Richard as always 🙂,
*side note*
You stated your video with thieves in the area and followed that up with, "my neighbour's have left their house unattended" 🤣👏🏻
Pass everything but the tire shop and gas station...love it!!
I love the Black Ram Mega Cab. Y’all stay safe.
I friggin love those battery powered sds hammer drills. And I got a track saw last year and they are Soo glorious for breaking down bigger pieces of hardwood accurately. Save that granite for the garage( :'D )
cabinets are easy to build especially with a gutted kitchen and some tool you will need. Kreg makes some really good jigs for cabinet building. Check them out.
Are you doing a nail-down or glue install of the flooring? OSB is less than awesome for nail-down flooring - poor fastener retention
Did you use the PLP on the backs of all the 4x8 OSB? I have a corded Mikita tracksaw. Best purchase ever. Long tracks are expensive. Everyone seems to like cordless. Have to look into it. Can’t wait to see how this floor turns out. 👍
G.O.A.T.
This has inspired me to tear up a bunch of tile and buy some new tools in the process. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
just a tip for drilling concrete use boch sds drills the tapcon brand drills are trash. thanks for the awesome vid
Man! Your landlord must love you!
liking the Japanese saw too
Great video. Love this channel. Very informative.
Why would you use the hammer drill? Use the SDS next time! That SDS will drill them hole like going thru butter!!
Did you install the subflooring? Why do you have the OSB subflooring on a concrete slab? Can't you install the hardwood directly on the slab with leveling compound?
Bro! Cut the grout lines with a grinder and diamond wheel and you can just pop the tiles out easily and most of the time very very cleanly. Once you get one tile out the chisel bit will lift the tile and most of the thinset right off the floor easy as pie! That picture of you doing it looked like a Suzy homemaker weekend honey do list lol..
Regular hammer drills don’t punch they simply vibrate.. it’s actually not too different then the mechanics of how an impact works.. really should be using that sds for drilling into the slab.
Love your videos me and my girlfriend are redoing some houses and it’s been a wealth of information and inspiration
Literally my new favorite tool for bout a month
The exhaust on that Dodge could be used somewhere else as a drainpipe.
Looks sick brother!
You mean to tell me there are instructions on the box of screws? Never saw them. Now Im curious and will have to go look.
Why not use a floating floor over the slab instead nail down?
tapcon branded bits are junk the bosch ones aren't bad
Darth Vader of Rams!! Nice!
Room temperature challenge love it lol!!!
The lawn looks a little rough. Better call @LCN 🤣
I would love to watch every part of your remodel it would be both entertainment and education
Go buy Wyze cams there is no monthly fee and are very small home depot sells them now
Have you thought of taking your kitchen wall down & putting an island in place ?
Cool truck, I mean cool camera, I mean cool SDS, I mean cool hammer drill, I mean cool track for the track saw 🤔🤣
ahahah well the thumbnail almost got me! perfect title name but missing the special attachment for the rotary hammer 🤣
Love my Dewalt track saw, best tool I ever bought....
Paint housing dark n blend it in! I got same thing!!!!
My son got jumped in his garage 2weeks ago n got charged with defending himself! So be careful saying what u would do just saying, I’d love to tell more of the story!!!!!
😂😂 the title is golden.
I would love to have you for a neighbor and can’t believe that guy just up and left. I’d be there to help with any project you needed someone to assist. I’m one of those jacks of all trades you generally don’t care for, but I can hold my own with some professionals I’ve seen. 😂🤣😂🤣. Great channel and really enjoy learning from your vids.
Hey Richard, I work for a general contractor (I'm in Allen) and we had people break into our trucks and cars on my street and did the same thing as y'alls kinda except if they could get in they went through the glove box and then dumped it all out and then left. Did they do that around you or did they actually take things? Because I had a little money in the truck but not more than like $10 in change and they didn't take that either.
Try CT1 Construction Adhesive if you can get it I'm a Handyman in UK and I find this stuff the best
I couldn't get anyone to look at my 30 year old American standard jet tub. so I tore it out. to find out Needed a simple WIR repair which continues to be a ful master bath Reno 10 months so far learning as I go. and i'm a double major strokesurvivor I can't see well or do numbers.
That’s a pretty through job with the floor 10 per sheet last time did that I had to countersink the screws but I wasn’t using the hammer drill nice tip 👍🏾
You are right is fun/enjoyable working on you own house like that, funny thing I too bought the rental house we live in and am currently working on painting the outside and also have several projects planned. Would like to know how you went about finding a trim place to buy you material that isn't BMC or home depot? I saw in one of your videos you going to a trim store. As always thanks
Burning coal with that Big Rig!
Just a question, why would you put OSB instead of Plywood on a concrete floor? I dont think it s the best when putting hardwood on top. Moisture can get to the hardwood and cause gaps in the hardwood. Never mind it was existing. Respect Great channel. FYI if you have a moisture tester you can test the hardwood and the subfloor as long as they are close you can install the floor. Say the Moisture in floor is 9 and hardwood is 7 then install is ok, if subfloor is 12 and hardwood is 6 then you can not install or it will cause the floor to gap. May save ur marriage if you could install this week.
The room temperature challenge lol
I am not a carpenter by trade, did you put a subfloor over the concrete? Is this for the wood floor you are putting in? I have wood floor on concrete but it is glued. Please educate me.
Nice house..looking good
I can relate. Only it’s my wife that start a job when I’m 80% done with the current one.
Great video, great tips. Thxs Rich.
That’s funny I’m always getting myself in trouble starting a small project and turning it into a huge project lol
My girlfriend spilled spaghetti sauce on the rug. That turned into ripping rug out to find crappy wood floors underneath that was ripped out also and replaced thru out. then took a few walls down then removing 2 ceilings to make them cathedral. And so on it goes😬😬. Thanks Gail...lol
Amazing. Well done. DEWALT Guaranteed:-)
How come there is osb over concrete, then the floor goes on top of that?
CHEESE MAN ROBLOX because you can’t lay full/real hardwood directly on concrete. You can lay engineered hardwood on concrete with the correct glue; however, you must make sure your concrete floor is level first. By laying the OSB, etc, you won’t have to worry about the moisture and can lay the solid hardwood. The right glue with engineered hardwood takes care of the concrete moisture issue. You can’t lay that even on freshly poured concrete. Your concrete has to be at a certain dryness before you can lay the engineered hardwood. Hope that helps.
It’s the “Asphalt Temperature Challenge” TEXAS!
DeWalt sponsor the man already
Track saw witch is the best for contractor? F.T. Make. Or Dew.
Great to know I too am a home owner that does my on work thanks for the tips.
Burglarized bro not robbed.
you will be out of the dog house once she sees the finished product.
What size Nail will u be using do to the fact that ur only going into 3/4 OSB on concrete.
good info on driving in tapcons
Welcome to home owner life. Lol I bought my house went to remodel bathroom and next thing you know I completely took out every wall except the ones holding it up, stairs got moved and bathroom ended up in a completely different part of the house. Needles to say my 2 car garage looks as full as yours. Lol after you slap that beautiful floor in go clean up your garage. Lol oh and I have been rocking my osb floor for like 3 months. Ha ha ha!
Richard, give me a buzz when you get ready to tackle your kitchen cabinets. I build custom cabinets around the DFW area for a living, and am happy to share some knowledge, and help out if you need.

Everything is looking great, keep it up!
I still like your PhD the best one of the best
Great video!
Ha ha ha man, you have a squid truck, look at that cloud of ink, give it some seafoam and see if it is going to heal it's digestive problem 😃
Usually us guys get in trouble with the wife for not doing repairs or upgrades around the house. Your wife should be happy you're motivated to do these improvements without being verbally abused.
You gonna make a video using the track saw
Good job on your videos bro
Thanks always info I can use !
Good morning! I have subscribed to your channel for a long time, which convinces me to ask a very important question! please tell me which mitersaw you really recommend! Thank you! Greetings from Poland
