Theory: the Butt Witch used to own the necklace Reggie has, but she decided to stay on the island forever instead of leaving. Eventually she fell into a deep sleep, falling into the volcano on Endless Island and losing her old form. Reggie’s grown up magazines she tossed in helped her be able to take on a new form
I don’t think she owned Reggie’s necklace because we are shown that Reggie made it herself and that other objects can be used to access Endless as long as you craft it yourself. My theory is that Butt witch used to be a teenager girl that was pretty much the opposite of Reggie. She was tired of being belittled and have her concerns and opinions ignored by adults because she is just a kid. She wanted people to recognize her maturity and respect her and she found that in Endless. It would appear that Endless changes to fit the visitors desires in order to trap them there long enough for them to lose their memories of the human world so it can assimilate them. Hence why it was a grown up wonderland. As she spent too much time in endless, she slowly became crazy and eventually died either because another visitor slayed her to protect the locals she was tourmentimg or because of an accident. Either way she fell in the volcano only to be revived by Reggie years later. She then saw that her world had become childish and she blames Reggie and her friends for it because she doesn’t realize that it changed on it’s own to lure in a new person.
I’d like to think that it was the books that created her, because I absolutely LOVE that kind of concept, but from what she said, it seems like the books just summoned her. Also, I realized something: THE BUTT WITCH IS REGGIE’S HORMONE MONSTER!!!
I wish the show was more consistent with the butt witch so that we could actually take her seriously. Yes shes creepy and one of the most interesting characters but still she just gets nerf-or-nothinged every episode and comes back a few episodes later with a new potion that blows up in her face. I wanna see her do something really bad or with an effect that lasts a few episodes or even an entire season.

Has anyone else made the realization that Buttwitch is an analogy for "bitch"? Because that's basically what the character is: An amalgamation of what-all the show's female lead (Reggie) finds unlikable as a mature female, who possesses the ability to transform--seemingly magically--into something she finds more and MORE repulsive with each time she views her... much like what a girl suffering body dismorphia during puberty would when she looks in the mirror.
