This version has BOTH the scene in the Pathmark supermarket AND where she goes to the closet for the dress and all the junk falls off the shelf...why were these cut from other versions? So happy to see them!
This was my 1st birthday. Thanks for posting. 87 at 9:00 in August? That must have been a cold front. A lot of the businesses in the commercials still exist. El Fenix is still going strong. Brumbaugh’s is still around but they moved out to far west Fort Worth.
Loved time-traveling back via the wonderful commercials. Loved, loved, loved the movie. Great acting, though that's not surprising considering the stature of the two stars and all the seasoned professionals backing them up. Some creative new-age antics as an army of the downtrodden assembles. and a lot of romanticism (which I like!), but would somebody please explain the ending to me?
The movie is on DVD in a widescreen. Apologies for the film damage at 1:51:30 which is at the very end of the movie. It originally had the Universal logo, but there is no Universal logo at the beginning.
The film itself has a Chicago connection, only insofar as two of the "zippers" along Times Square seen in the movie. The news zipper around the then-Allied Chemical Tower at 48:24, and the Mutual Radio zipper along the Bond Clothes building at 49:35, both had their controls at the time from perforator/transmitter systems supplied by Chicago-based Naxon Telesign (whose founder, Irving Naxon, invented the crock pot among other things). This was the second character font variant the company offered, made specifically for the first of the zippers shown in that sequence, being as it was built at 11 rows high (around 1964; the Allied Chemical zipper was first put into operation in spring 1965 - I call that one Mark II, as it replaced an earlier zipper [Mark I] that was around what started out life as The New York Times Tower between 1928 and 1963, and last flashed the news headlines in that form in 1962 with both Marilyn Monroe's death and the Cuban Missile Crisis).
Too bad the stupid ads of which I don’t buy any of their crap. They are interfering with the energy flow for this fun movie. Love the tv commercials from 1979😊
Why is the world in love again? Why are we marching hand-in-hand? Why are the ocean levels rising up? It's a brand new record for 1990, They Might Giants' brand new album "Flood"!

Thank you very much for posting a version that is difficult to find - a version with no scenes cut. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoy watching the whole stuff including the commercials and all else. Thanks a lot. Monday evening down in Central Brazil.
Not the "They Might Be Giants" I was hoping for. But it's fun to see this. =3
Think the sequel to this movie would be called "Particle Man". Lol
@Gabriel D College if it counts. John Linnell was in his first band, The Mundanes at the time.
This is one of my favourite films ever!
So Many Great Character actors

Thank you!
There needs to really be a remake of They Might Be Giants with They Might Be Giants doing the soundtrack!
This is where they got the name for the band I believe

I thought this was for the band They Might be Giants. Never knew there was a movie before the band existed.
I’d just moved down there when this aired. Great place.
TV fans will remember Sheb Wooley from his recurring role of Pete Nolan on Rawhide.
He was also in the 1952 Gary Cooper film "High Noon."
@jareddicarlo7816 The master of which has recently been found...
Thanks!
Hey, this isn't the album Flood!
Well great, now I have "The Communists Have The Music" stuck in my head. Thanks a ton.
Background music in the intro, Kathy by Dennis Coffey.
Thanks!
The band They Might Be Giants is named after this movie.
Was any of this filmed in Istanbul (not Constantinople)?
1:52:59 is Pro Football Hall of Famer, Mr. Cowboy, Bob Lilly.

Realizing I'm older than George is when this was released and it's kinda messing with me

They Might Giants' brand new album "Flood"!
The for sure San Francisco Giants lost to the Cardinals 5-1 the day this aired.
