      Thank you ! I just started a program with my work insurance which told me to only eat 12 grams of protein and 30 grams of carbs and I just did your calculator and it says 90 protein and 20 carbs. I was like 12 that can’t be right. So this explains this better.

I’ve wasted a year waiting to lose weight on high fat low protein keto/carnivore. I should have listened to my common sense and videos like this. Thank you so much. And then there is me, and all those like me. 7 months very high fat (80/20) clean beefy carnivore. Lost 42 pounds and now gealthy BMI for first time in 24 years! Maintaining weight is easy. Feel good mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Have healed numerous serious health issues, put autoimmune in remission, feel amazing. Well enough now to join the gym and start working on strength stability and flexibility.
      BOTH sides of this debate are right some of the times and in specific situations.
      I do not expect to be high fat forever.
      The only med I have left (!!!) Is the lowest dose of armour thyroid. Good fat is very helpful in restoring hormones and a host of other health issues.
      My health was always far more important than my weight.
      Yet I am now a terrific BMI.
      I am watching this because I am ready to cycle in some low fat high protein days when going to the gym.
      Eating keto/carnivore really should be viewed a spectrum, or even better to me...a toolbox.
      Because I haven't made one "professional" or influencer my "guru"
      I pay attention, and have a notebook filled with, ALL of the strategies they have had success with.
      None of these people are MY doctors, or yours. They do not know YOUR body/health issues, exactly what you are eating etc.
      Based on my experiments so far, I believe there is no ONE WAY to be keto/carnivore even for me! I am glad I am not stuck in a tiny restrictive way of eating.
      I am glad to have so many metabolic "shake up" strategies to keep my body in good health. I am glad I know that should I get a cancer diagnosis or show signs of dementia I will have myself in therapeutic ketosis PDQ.
      I have a health toolbox now, and I am grateful for the different "experts" sharing.

    If you're fat, don't eat more fat. It's what general wisdom has been saying all along. Keto wants you to eat more fat to keep you satiated so you don't snack and eat too much. It's cutting out the carbs (eating less fruit, vegetables) that's the problem. I've been using more fat (butter) to eat less between meals and late evening, but I'm now not losing any more weight so I'm going to follow this now.

    • @debiwillis9045

      The idea of more fat is just the first week to get fat adapted then cut back on fat and add more protein

    • @sidneybuckaloo
      @sidneybuckaloo 2 месяца назад +4

      I wouldn’t say it doesn’t work. It’s worked for thousands of people. Adding more fat doesn’t always make you fat. Look at the stories of people who it helps. Just because one thing works for one person doesn’t mean that it works for another. High fat, moderate protein or high protein, moderate fat.

    You are both very good teachers, but I would really love it if you would use a whiteboard to explain some of these processes. Craig is using his hands to illustrate a lot, but it's not as clear as seeing it on a whiteboard. It helps us visual learners to be able to copy things down. That is one advantage of Dr. Berg, and Sten Eckberg.

      Sometimes I will use my own notebook or whiteboard to take notes as I'm listening~ either written words or visual cues, such as the 'bubble chart' method learned in essay writing or even simple graphics. Everyone learns differently, & translating the information being offered is often of personal benefit. We might consider that not everyone is comfortable or adept at teaching in the same ways we might prefer to learn, which is when it's helpful for the learner to adapt the opportunity. =)

I wish I'd dug a little deeper into the "eat more fat" myth back when I first started getting disenchanted with keto and realized that to keep losing weight I needed to increase protein and decrease fat. Not even having what I needed to burn fat because I was going too low on protein never even occurred to me before.

      After being carnivore for 6 months after a diagnosis of insulin resistant, I get it! (I think). Im 74 years old female. I’m also now 105 pounds. Lost 20 pounds. Went zero carb. Med protein. Med fat. No calorie counting. After using your macro formula, I was very close to recommended numbers. That was a fluke cause I simply couldn’t eat the amt of protein and fat that carnivore demanded so I cut them back drastically. Now I will keep to the protein grams of the calculator, not go over the fat grams, stay no more than 20 carbs in the form of veg/salad not grain/junk, and do more exercise. My hair was thinning and falling b4 I ever went carnivore but now it’s worse. I will take electrolytes hoping low sodium was the problem. Am I on the right track? 🤞
      And hardest cut back on my 2 cups of coffee.
      Excellent presentation. Very clear. Easy to understand now. ❤

I started incorporate your approach and weight just melted away 😊 apart from that I am feeling much better and energetic eating higher protein . High fat only made me feel lethargic and gain weight. So once again thank you so much for everything you are doing ❤

    It's finally good to see that these people on this channel know what the hell their talking about. Not everyone who is overweight is insulin resistant. They just eat to much. Why would you go on a high fat keto diet when you have well over enough body fat to burn off? Excellent channel.

    The high fat thing never really made sense to me. I was recently in a ketovore/carnivore FB group that was always tell people to eat like 80-90% fat, to the point where they were starting to sound cultish. They also completely ignored the laws of thermodynamics and TDEE rule. So many post about how a someone had been on the diet for years with no WL and they were told to eat more fat and not track intake. This is something I have see not just in that group but in the keto/ketovore/carnivore crowd in general, and it really is a disservice to people who have really struggling to drop body fat.

    This is so very helpful. I’ve been frustrated because I can’t seem to be able to get my Glucose under 100. I did a 84-hr water fast last week and got my Glucose done to 80’s and finally down to 6073, but once I started eating Keto & PSMF, my Insulin is back to 143 today. I went on You Tube to try to get answers and watched this video. I think I know now what direction to go. I am a 69 yr old female and am 230 lbs. (My highest was 287) My goal is 160 for now. I have such a hard time losing and now I understand the main reason why. My sister is around 340 lbs (3 years older than I) and her Glucose stays around 85. I haven’t understood how this can be when she is around 100 lbs more than I. She is so resistant to weight loss, as well. She gets so discouraged as to what to do to lose the weight. I try so hard DAILY to study & search to find the answer for us both.

      Everybody has a different body so the same plan doesn't work for everybody. One obvious thing is that it is not sustainable to go in extended fasts as the main way to lose weight because you are going to gain it all back when you start to eat again. It's better to follow a program that would be sustainable on the long term. Since fasts seem to work for you, try maintaining just a narrow eating window daily, no more than 6 hours. Then make a conscious effort to do at least 10000 steps a day. Also add strength training, particularly during your PSMF days. You can start with something as simple as using an exercise bike that has resistance bands so you have to make more of an effort to pedal and are building muscle mass. You can also follow videos in which exercises are done with resistance bands. You don't need to work out like a maniac because you don't want to injure yourself

    • @sunnyBLR
      @sunnyBLR 9 месяцев назад

      Same thing happened to me. fasting for 24 hr+ is the only way to bring down my number to 70s-80s on keto. Your BG shot up even with PSMF? You can't be fasting all the time to bring down BG. what is the new direction you are taking?

    • @kaywaddell9892
      @kaywaddell9892 7 месяцев назад

      I'm having to come to terms with how strong the insulin resistance is in my body. Hard to hear/read comments of people concerned that their glucose is in the 90s in the morning and I have to water fast 4 days to get to 104. I'm active and have switched to high fat carnivore. Going to switch up again now because even doing that lowest bg in the morning got to 117. Trying to have more patience with myself but it's been 2yrs now and I just want to reach my goal.
