    Meanwhile in Spain, we have a forgotten promise of Renfe of turning Trenhotel Sleeper Train services back.
    It said Trenhotel was going to be back ASAP, but it has passed 2 years since the Trenhotel Services were cut off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and 6 months since the last stretch of the High Speed Line to Galicia opened, but Renfe prefers to inaugurate new High Speed Lines.
    Specifically, the so awaited Extremadura's High Speed Line, the so awaited High Speed Tunnel under Madrid, connecting Puerta de Atocha with Chamartín, so Cross-Country trains, like the services from Asturias to Valencia & Alicante don't need to change from UIC to Iberian Gauges and vice versa & the High Speed Line to Burgos, and to end works to continue that High Speed Line into the Basque Country

      Unlike Nightjet, there's no room service menu, a missed opportunity. But since my last trip in a MAV sleeper, they've adopted several Nightjet services including the choice of breakfast items and complimentary sparkling wine. And the sleepers are replaced or refurbished. I like MAV's new service!

      But recently there are a lot more immigrants trying to slip through so Budapest main stations, the Austrian border n the German border all get close police attention with international trains. Went to Vienna two weeks ago with a morning train from Budapest, saw Hungarian police remove 4 pax in BUD just from my carriage cos allegedly they didn’t have passports n couldn’t speak a word of English or Hungarian. A day before, Austrian police closed the border n stopped train traffic for abt 4 hours cos immigrants were running around the rails near the border. If you’re traveling nowadays, expect delays and police checks.

    You're extreme lucky that you didn't ride on this train on last Thursday. MÁV and ÖBB extremly messed up that. We started around 04:00 instead of 20:40.

    • @budapestkeletistationvoices
      @budapestkeletistationvoices 2 года назад +1

      It was a result of an accident. One of the carriages broke down that had to be removed from the train. Passengers remain inside the carriage with doors locked shut, no air-con and no openable windows, so they decided to break the window. Last week it was extremely hot in Hungary.
      The matter was investigated by the police that held the entire train.

      @@budapestkeletistationvoices also ÖBB's engine was broken, we got an another (MÁV) train engine and pulled it until Hegyeshalom. And please don't forget the fact that the austrian train driver who had to replace the hungarian one didn't waited the train (probably his shift has been ended) and we had to switch to a small regional train to Vienna, and also switch to an another train until München (or Zürich for other people who went there). I think you can expect how that regional train (and later the Railjet from Vienna) looked with extra 200 people.
      TBH that 7,5 hour long late is just one thing. I can understand that the police investigation and replacing the car with broken window took time. (Also I understand that MÁV wanted to spare some time with the replacement of the original car and this is why they started to replace it with the passengers on the train instead of asking them to get out until that).
      But for us the worse was that we had to leave the sleeping carriage after two hours and we had to suffer with transfers. It was like the two railway companies want to kick us one more time.

    • @budapestkeletistationvoices
      @budapestkeletistationvoices 2 года назад

      @@saxus unfortunately, MÁV Start realllocates better coaches to Lake Balaton in summers. In domestic InterCities missing coaches are replaced with regional coaches and intetnational trains are run with short formations.
      As you may know Hungary's not the best example of democracy. PM's family owns large areas of Balaton in form of hotel and everything is subordinated to his political and personal goals.

    • @saxus
      @saxus 2 года назад

      @@budapestkeletistationvoices I'm not sure that it have any relationship with democracy (and probably even with MÁV) if the Austrian train driver didn't waited our train and they didn't provide a 2nd driver to ride the train on the full line. Somebody simply cancelled our ride from Hegyeshalom. That was the worst part.
