If you watched cobra Kai season 3 ,in one of the kreese flashbacks, his captain told kreese that he studied tang soo do in the Korea war.and as someone who does taekwondo,I agree Johnny said “chunbi”
Miyagi Do = Naha Te, especially Goju Ryu (Naha Te portion of Shito Ryu is closest but Goju Ryu is probably most accessible). Cobra Kai = Tang Soo Do, outright verified in season 3.
Miyagi do is based on Shito Ryu for Fumio Demura Mr. Miyagi stunt double. And the choreography was done by the referee character who was a 1st degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. Also The 2nd in command thug in KK3 is a 1st degree black belt in Shorin Ryu and Thomas Ian Griffith who played Terry Silver is a black belt in Taekwondo.
Really enjoyed this video and article, very well put together! However, the video mis-spells "Mortal Kombat" with a C. You have it the correct way round on the written version of the site, but your video editor needs a friendly reminder to triple check names, not just rely on spell check. ;) Sorry to be a pedant, but Mortal Kombat, both the game original, and the film, deserve some reverance, especially in this topic - hopefully for obvious reasons for anyone who knows their history. [edited to make it less snarky. I genuinely did enjoy the video!]
There is also a "Crane Kick" in Saifa Kata......a Goju-Ryu Kata.

Johnny shouted "Hajime" which is Japanese for begin not "junbi" which is the command for ready given in Tang Soo Do / Soo Bahk Do / Tae Kwon Do

Miyagi-Do (Goju-Ryu) vs. Cobra Kai (Tang Soo Do).
Two of my favorite martial arts styles.

Oof, you're absolutely right! We'll be sure to avoid that mistake. Thanks for your korrection :)
But Miyagi do is supposed to be Okinawan Goju Ryu.
Yo thx
And yet Tang Soo Do is kata for Kata Shotokan Karate.

It’s fake I haven’t the watch show but I see that it’s not the real karate they let their actors perform.
