Joe I need a drum set for cheap could you help me buy one
Please
Huge lack of system of a Down, maybe toxicity or smth some time??
yes sounds amazing
That dulcimer was surprisingly fitting for “enter sandman”. Sounds pretty heavy for an acoustic instrument!
I mean a guitar is an acoustic instrument
@@beyondtoxinz3152 not an electric one, that’s what he means
My exact thought. I would love to hear a full cover with the dulcimer!
It reminded me of the citar they used on Wherever I May Roam, ofc on the same album
Based pfp I haven’t seen one of those for like 5 years
You know, when I see six mallets resting on the marimba, I'm always impressed. But there's something about seeing only two mallets and knowing the something super technical is about to happen that gets me excited!
What I always look for is the grip of a mallet player.
When they go for Stephen's grip I am always like 'yes, he's on my team! You are awesome'
and when they go for Burton I am like 'Although both techniques are basically equal with some minor advantages in either, you are objectively WRONG.'
No hate tho lol, I do actually occasionally practice both just to be able to.
@@myotiswii Burton is normally used by vibes players more often than marimba. I’m trying to learn the Stevens and I can’t keep them steady, but I’m working on it!
@@williamstenberg1220 That is not true. It depends on where in the world you are. Americans go for Burton more often, Mid Europe and Japan are more Stephen's. But even then it kinda depends on what they have been told mainly.
I did apply for a marching band in the USA once and they told me that they really liked my playing during the online round and when I came to play in person I should 'make a proper grip'
I hadn't heard of different grips before and I was like o.O because Burton looks weird if you aren't used to it lol.
I did eventually learn Burton, but I never went and applied there because I found a better opportunity elsewhere.
@@williamstenberg1220 my metalhead ass thought you were talking about mullets and Cliff Burton 💀
What was super technical about it?
The flairdrum Master of Puppets at 0:53 straight up changes how I feel about that solo. It's so mesmerizing and makes me feel like their should be more flairdrums added to digital kits because that sounds so good. Very well done mate
Hammered Dulcimer - Enter Sandman
Steel Pan - Sweet Child O’ Mine
Slapaphone - Thunderstruck
flairdrum - Master Of Puppets
Vibraphone - Californication
Marimba - The Trooper
Now I want a full length version of The Trooper on marimba…I didn’t realize that until now.
agreed
I love how you can visually see the crescendos in Thunderstruck. Also, now I'm gonna see more Metallica for you. The intro to Fight Fire With Fire would be really cool on the Dulcimer. Also, the melodic section of Orion would be awesome on marimba.
I wouldn't mind hearing one on the drums
@@misterrelatable3049 DIRTY WINDOW!!!
I think ‘Wherever I may roam’ would sound incredible on Dulcimer man
@@wirsig3675fuck no
Please no Metallica. Metallica sucks Iron Maiden and AC/DC are much much better.
I gotta give thunderstruck the most credit. I been playing guitar for many years and its still one of the most challenging things for me to play. Mainly because of the picking. So for you to pick up and put it down that fast and on tempo, its impressive truly
The picking? There is no picking, it’s all hammer-ons and pull-offs…..
@@MrGorman thats what many people think. But you can search it up, its alternative picking. If it was hammer ons and pull offs i wouldve had it by now
Dude, the picking on “My Name Is Jonas” is insane. Learned it as my first Weezer song, big mistake, but I think it was beneficial in the long run.
@@ezra5737 I've seen them playing it with just hammer on's and pull off's in a live video so that's how I play it.
@@thecheeseman31415 maybe, but thats because playing that song live at that age over and over is hard. If they need an easier route then so be it. But the original, true to the song, is alternate picking. So if you arent playing it like that then you're basically just doing it wrong
Flair drum and the slapaphone are two instruments that make me happy every time they show up in a video! 💜
Ahh, yes, the magic of plastic 🤣
@@JoePorterPercussion naz
Me and my mom are both big Metallica fans and right off the bat you played my moms favorite song from them, she really appreciates the work you did to make this video.
Same here
this man's percussion skills are unmatched
Too bad 3rd place
Hammered Dulcimer - Metallica (Enter Sandman)
Steel Pan - Guns N’ Roses (Sweet Child O’ Mine)
Slapaphone - AC/DC (Thunderstruck)
flairdrum - Metallica (Master of Puppets)
Vibraphone - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Californication)
Marimba - Iron Maiden (The Trooper)
I like the and justice for all profile pic
You should do more of these iconic rock songs on cool instruments, it would be a really good series!
I agree
Absolutely 💯
This sounded so good! Loved the trooper cover ngl, we need a full cover!
I agree
I think thunderstruck on the slapaphone sounds amazing. It would be cool to see the whole song played out on it
Man you never cease to impress me. This is next level songs you’re playing. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks, hope you have a nice day!
The Trooper is one of my favorite songs of all time, but now I'm feeling like I might need to hear the full thing on the marimba!!!
Playing The Trooper on a marimba should be called "Playing The Trooper on the ribcage of a trooper"
lol
Can we please get a full song of californication on the vibraphone? That sounded incredible!
Finally someone talking about californication
Dude. Hammered dulcimer is PRETTY ROCKY AWESOME! I LOVE IT!
Me too bro I love Metallica
These instruments fit surprisingly well and would make for a sick video game soundtrack.
One of my first music I really digged had been Pierre Moerlen's Gong. Later on Metal became a thing too. Since then I dreamed about Metal with Vibraphone as a lead /melodic instrument.
Nowadays you actually can find such music composed by John Zorn for instance.
Makes me happy!
Un viaje al pasado, a esos años 80's, 90's y principios del 2000 de muy buena música. Excelente trabajo, Joe, eres un músico muy talentoso. Saludos desde Colombia.
🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
Joe: “Slapaphone”
*enters god mode*
People who play the marimba and similar instruments must have the greatest accuracy on the planet to hit the right note at the right time when their target is so thin and they have to use weirdly weighted sticks.
Californication on vibraphone is so perfect. Need a full song for sure
Never expected someone to play The Trooper on a marimba yet here we are😂 Great video, all the songs sounded amazing!
I’m an 8th grade flautist and for my spring concert we’re playing an arrangement with the trooper in it, as well as iron man, rocky you like a hurricane, and crazy train. The title of the arrangement is “Metal!” and it can be found here on youtube!
I read that as "flatulist"
Time to fo to sleep, i guess
@panda4247 I mean that would be pretty interesting too lol.
I’m doing percussion in school and it’s so fun, I can’t wait to be able to do this kind of stuff! Good work, keep it up! :)
i can watch a work of a master for hours. It looks so easy, almost like everyone can do it but its a talent, skills, and years of practise that make it looks so
The fact that you have learned all of these songs and know how to play each instrument is amazing, also it’s so impressive that you make the videos without cuts. This is amazing!
As a fan of the 80s and 70s music this is spot on! Nice work 👍.
Steel pan guns'n'roses is how I've always imagined it being played and vibraphone Californication sounds so good.
Gonna need a part 2 Iconic Rock & Metal Music, this was amazing!
We need a full cover of ALL of these songs because they're AMAZING🤟
I have never been disappointed by any of these videos, they’re great!
I have. In myself...
@@Rio_1111 hey, wanna talk?
@@prcxiale1124 I'm fine, just joking. I just played an awesome gig, so my self-esteem has grown back :D
@@Rio_1111 good, glad you feel better
I was just disappointed that it ended
This is the music I grew up with and still grow with, thanks for keeping the heart of rock alive
Finally. With a hammered dulcimer I can play guitar and still be a percussionist
Omg I loved it and I loved all the songs & bands you featured in this video!!!!! I swear your percussion skills are top tier!!!
😀 Hope you have a nice day!
That thunderstruck solo… That was awesome! I was not expecting that. That has to be one of the hardest things he’s played.
Thunderstruck isn’t that hard
It’s actually rly ez
@@generalkenobi1332 oh OK. I know there aren’t that many notes involved but the part I thought would be hard was the speed and knowing where to hit.
It’s probably a little harder on that instrument than it is on piano and such, but still
@@Vehiclemaster-qq6fr On guitar it is "quite easy" since it is all on one string (b). The tempo is what makes it difficult.
Love them all! It gives me nostalgia to hear all of these songs. You are so cool keep it up.
You should do a full cover of californication cause it sounded really good ^.^
That Hammered Dulcimer was SO COOL! I’ve never seen an instrument like that
PLEASE do more rock and metal! This was such an amazing video!
That cover of Sweet Child O Mine is absolutely magical!
That was awesome, I didn't even know I wanted to hear something like this, but I could listen to the entire song on some of those instruments!
0:30 Thunderslap
This episode could have been 6 hours long, I still would have watched it multiple times
More like this please! It's amazing I love these rock and metal melodies
Trooper on the Marimba was fantastic Thank you for sharing. 🙂
That was awesome! I would love to see a full RHCP song on a vibraphone. :)
MORE METAL SONGS PLEASE!! ❤️
Okay that Master of Puppets part on the Flairdrums sound AWESOME. it sounds so clean!!
All of these were satisfying. Especially ACDC on the slap-a-phone. That one made me feel fulfilled, like I was watching something I didn't know I wanted to watch.
This man is really talented.
I'm glad rock is making a comeback. I loved this! Awesome Stuff👌
Yeeesss!! Bring back Rock!! 🤙
Is it?
Tbh it's kinda nice that rock is underground again. It allows for more creativity.
@@ggstatertots it's not even close to underground.
You should do more full length versions of these, we cant get enough!
Yeaaah, I need an album of you covering entire songs my friend. This was fun!
Love your thumbnail picture, not for the content but for the nostalgic quality, please tell me what you use 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

0:54 "Master of Puppets," Metallica, flairdrum
1:07 "Californication," Red Hot Chili Peppers, vibraphone
1:22 "The Trooper," Iron Maiden, marimba
For him to use another instrument with those heavy amp songs means this guy have good ears and spend a good time learning these tunes. Good job sir. 👍
when you busted out the marimba for The Trooper, I lost it. You're amazing bro
These all need full versions. Freakin wow!
The depth replicated by a resonant instrument, where it would take a bass and a rhythm section to do that with the lead riff, is so satisfying
New sub. This completely reminds me of an amazing feature of Encarta Encyclopedia on the PC (yikes) 🤓 Where it would showcase world instruments. Seriously one of my favorite things as a kid.
You have to have admiration for the dedication of musicians learning instruments !
The fact that I have ever single one of these songs on my playlist made me smile
Inacreditável KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK MUITO FODA !!!!
First
You are
@@me_is_hobo thx
Sweet child of mine on the steel pan sounds like a default ringtone and I'm living for it
I think the intro to "wherever I may roam" would also sound awesome on the dulcimer
0:13 instruments that sounds like this always makes me relaxed some reason
There is a huge similarity between this piece and Mike Oldfield's -Tubular bells album. Really impressed
I noticed that as well, especially the way the instruments are named right before they're played.
@@st0a Exactly !
Damn, you make these sound great. Would love if this turned into a series.
The fact that he played Thunderstruck so fast that the sticks started flapping is impressive. I'm sure Angus Young would be proud
The way sweet child of mine sounds on the steel pan is just so happy sounding.
Its clear You did this whole video to showcase Thunderstruck on Slapophone, and I freaking love that. This one was EPIC!!
Now I want a cover of Master of Puppets on a flairdrum, it sounds sooooo cool
The sweet child of mine on the steel drum kinda sounds like it would be playing in a beachside bar somewhere, sounds dope
You can also play califonication on the kalimba as well
I was not prepared for Thunderstruck. That was awesome.
The Master of Puppets fill and the marimba Trooper was especially awesome!
Your singles on marimba are very impressive. Also one of my favorite iron maiden songs.
They’re all so calming on these
Yeah, I need a full version of all of these.
Would LOVE a full thunder struck cover on the slapafon 😎
You made "the trooper" and "enter sandman" so good
Such instruments
Many talent
wow
I amazed with steel fan. How does that percussion instrument provides different notes on that one pan?
The fact that you did this in one take is extremely impressive.
The steel pan Sweet Child O' Mine was just magnificent!!!
Ok that Thunderstruck went so hard I need a full version 😂
@joe porter The fact that you can take any piece of music with any instrument is just amazing
As an Iron Maiden fan (and a fan of classical music), loved that last ‘un!
It would be really cool if you played wherever i may roam by metallica on the hammered dulcimer
The trooper on marimba was epic! All instruments were very cool
These sounded so cool, Californication was a nice surprise!
This is awesome. Good job man, I watched this with my eyes closed after the first song, and I recognized them all
I need more videos like this. Plezse. make a next part with Dio, Kiss and Deep Purple
As a metal head and a former percussionist I really enjoyed this video
I just noticed the dulcimer sounds so similar to the guitar tone at the start of sandman
Great use of these instruments! 💜
You nailed every single note, great job. More, pls 😉
