    What a gentleman and what an artisan. Makes me want to go out there and shake his hand (post COVID). A custom Hincapie bike would be an honour to ride and truly something to treasure. I better start saving!💰

    So when he (Hincape) mentioned Reynolds 753 it was because he was certified by Reynolds to build with it. Reynolds would only allow builders who submitted a frame built with it to them that passed their test to use it. Back then there was not a lot of certified 753 builders so it was a mark of craftsmanship and pride. That’s why Hincape brought it up not because Si and Reynolds are from England. That aside really enjoyed the piece. Thanks

      My grandfather who was a custm frame builder upto the 80s didnt think much of the lighter Reynolds tubing and most riders favoured 531 or a mix of 531 and 653 from memory. Issues with strength and the rod alloy. I cant recall if he used 753 he may of.. i used to pick up tube and lugs from brum.

    • @whitacrebespoke
      @whitacrebespoke 4 года назад

      glenn oc when my dad moved to brum he brought an expensive frame from Craig’s bike shop in brum they had come as seconds out of a builders as they had head tube issues. The old man managed to track down lugs etc in brum and got it all braised back together and put many thousands of miles on that bike including several fund raising rides from brum to Southampton and brum to Bristol. On in brum could you walk in places and get stuff like that. There’s still abit now but no where like it was.

    This was a great watch. You can see the pride and passion Mr Hincapié has for making bikes. I hope the big manufacturers watch this, they could learn a thing or two from visiting his workshop.

    Amazing video. Great piece.... As Colombian and after seeing this videos covering the cycling in Colombia and all what is around cycling, I feel so grateful with all the cyclists from my country like this last generation (Nairo Rigo Egan Atapuma etc..) of fighters, our champions that have brought to the world another face of Colombia. And also I am grateful with all the cycling fans and community like GCN to show all of it, like this hidden Master. Thanks GCN

    This reminds me of Ave Maldea from Philippines. He"s such a fine craftsman and his works are high quality that his products are now exported. #maldeavebike

    so great to see such a builder. I used to hang out at shops in the 80's that built frames but this is so next level.

    I love bikes, fixing them and while watching this video just make love more this passion. But I feel pleasure of doing the things from scratch. Build a bike now is like going to the supermarket and buy a frozen pizza, but here is making every single step to get an unique piece. Love this video and love the fact there are still people in world who can make us dream. Thank you GCN and good, long life to Mr Hincapie!!!

    Tino made my first custom bike almost 30 years ago. I still love that frame. According to the ownership card that he gave me it was frame 0023.
    I remember spending lots of time at his shop while he was building my dream bike. What amazing memories.
    Un abrazo Agustin!!!
