Hello everyone, I am the developer of Unicorn Airsoft
Thank you for watching the video AIRSOFT GI helped us create
I have been Airsoft's development and activities for more than 20 years. I have also designed Airsoft for American and Japanese brand developers. I started UnicornAirsoft a few years ago
Because I love Airsoft so much😆
I introduce the inner barrel we made
Basically the inner barrel I made is brass
He is very conducive to processing and can ensure that the inner diameter of the inner barrel remains consistent
We use Nitroflon which is different from other brands of electroplating
Nitroflon is used for plastic and rubber molds, it will not let the plastic stick
We use this feature to make BB's HOPUP function in the inner barrel better
Many people know that the inner barrel above 6.05MM can make the bullet fly farther because of the reduced friction
But it may reduce the speed or cause the accuracy to drop
We use 6.03MM inner barrel with Nitroflon plating
It can ensure the accuracy is improved and also allow BB to fly farther
This is the performance we are after
I hope you enjoy using it😁

    • @brettbourgeois5379

@@midnightduo1 In the video the OP mentions that brass is not only cheaper than stainless, it also absorbs accuracy reducing vibrations. Basically, its just a platform for the plating to do its magic, the material of the barrel itself never makes contact with the bb's so its not as important as say a standard aftermarket steel tight bore that needs meticulous polishing in order to achieve consistent accurate shots. This increases the turnaround time for the manufacturing process much quicker and less costly for the barrel manufacturer. He could have chose a different less expensive material like aluminum for example but as stated above, the vibration dampening properties of brass proved itself to be the best metal for the job. Cheers

Airsoft "Effective Range" can be improved with better Barrels, Buckings and Air Seal
This video surprisingly had far less product shilling and much more good info than I have ever seen on this channel!

Nice Video. I liked it. Long story short, no matter the patform(AEG/GBBR/HPA) the heavier are the bbs, the better they "penetrate" air and they keep their energy longer => Thus reaching further. Assuming your hop up unit can provide sufficient backspin, of course. Did a quick test with shooting chrono at point blank and at 5 meters and from 1.5J mark the resulting energy of 0.2/0.28/0.36g bbs was 1/1.1/1.2J ... Since the energy goes down rapidly, the actual max range difference between let's say 1J an 1.5J is much less then someone would expect :) ... Just for a further reference it would be also nice to have J output of the tested replicas (In case I have missed it, feel free to ignore)

The best way to get more range is to the heaviest BBs that your gun will hop. Even lower power guns, use heavy bbs. Explosive Enterprises has a great video on this called "Why You Should Be Using Heavy BBs For Airsoft", which does a great job explaining why; basically any loss in velocity by using heavy bbs is really only applicable at the muzzle, but at effective ranges the bbs maintain a higher velocity than lower weights.

from my understanding the bb never gets in contact with the barrel cuz there is a constand airflow that surrounds it. so the bb always selfcorrects its position inside of the barrel close to the center, otherwise the bb bounce inside the barrel would produce a very destinctive sound and last time i checket my replica didnt sound like a bag of nails

Great video and I love such comparative set ups. Saves us commoners with limited gun arsenal from having to spend the big bucks to make such trials.
One technical comment though, at the end I think you ended up comparing apples and oranges when you tried to justify the difference between AEG and Gas. The trial was un fair because you and different BB weight and different joule output. To have a fair comparative set up between the two technologies, you need to set the same BB and same Joule reading.
So the question is, between an AEG and Gas replica, using same BB and set at exactly same Joules, will one out perform the other ?
Even then though the reason could be the bucking and hop up unit set up 😅 but that can be attributed to being intrinsic to the platform 😅.
Thank you for you content !
looking forward to see more !

a 6.03 barrel with +/- 0.02 means it can range from 6.01 to 6.05. And potentially it could mean that each end is 6.05 and the middle is 6.01. +/- 0.02 is a pretty big margin at these levels. These then gets to your smoothness point, the +/- rating is telling you smooth it is.
The practical field test was great :)
Your equation being based around psi doesn't sound quite right, if you want higher PSI just make the nozzle hole smaller. I would think what you actually need is a higher mass flow, but even then there is a limit where you are moving too much air and it rushes past the BB as it comes out of the barrel, disrupting its travel.
I dont know, its complicated and I haven't seen anybody nail it yet.

Basically, our electroplating layer is different from that used in ordinary inner barrels
Most of the electroplating that will fall off is using Hardened Chrome
Now many inner barrel manufacturers will use Chemical Nickel as the electroplating layer
However, the above two electroplating layers are mostly used to protect the original material from oxidation rather than electroplating for plastic flow
The coating we use is Nitroflon, which is an electroplating developed for industrial moulds. We apply it to the inner barrel of AIRSOFT and the effect is very good. Basically, many companies use AIRSOFT for more than 3~40,000 rounds and have not seen any shedding phenomenon.
The only thing we can't get over is that customers use soft BBs to leave some residue

Alright, we gotta talk about this train vs bike example. I had to run some numbers because that example really highlighted some oversights in the video overall. Lets assume the Bike weights 18 pounds and the freight train weighs 15000 tons. That bike at 69 mph (nice) is packing almost 4k joules heading into the tunnel, the train is coming in with around 6.5 BILLION joules. Train is coming in with like 1,666,667x the energy, so yeah, I think it is going to go a wee bit further. Now, lets solve for energy and put a joule limit out there, like fields have done since HPA has become popular. Lets say the limit is 3,900 joules in our tunnel distance test. Bike can still hit that sweet 69 mph but the train is going .05 mph, which one are you betting on then? Lets pretend friction is even the same across both for the sake or argument. You HAVE to control for energy of the projectile out of the barrel to do any type of range comparison. Your range comparison did not, with the MWS shooting 30% hotter than the AEG. Thats a very considerable benefit to your MWS and actually puts it too hot to use at a lot of outdoor events. I would love to see you get into these individual topics one at a time, but I think throwing them all together led to your video ended up muddying the waters. You mentioned joule creep and showed the differences between the joules, but the video was so long it just sounded like you were saying "GBB shoot farther" by the end. I hope the big take away from a newer player wasn't "get an GBBR and throw a high flow valve with heavy bbs in to get more range" or they are going to find themselves not able to play events. I would love to see you all test a lot of the different options on the market and do so with some tighter controls. Keep up these videos though, still a lot of good information for newer players here.

Nubs for Noobs. Concave nubs are the best but we found many of the nubs are slightly miscut or dont fit the barrel window perfect or other reasons. Both my Maxx concave nubs were slightly off and quite a few other nubs were off as well.
The solution? Sugru the world. Making a custom nub from Sugru that fits the hop up window. The technique is quite simple. Take off the hop up arm. Twist the barrel so the barrel window is upside down so you can press on it. Take some soap and water and use a q tip to slightly coat the edges and areas you plan on pressing the sugru into. Dont soap the bucking in the barrel window just the edges. Mash a good amount of sugru into the window on the bucking. Put the hopup arm back on and press into the sugru to mold the into it.
It should look a hot mess but after 3 days you will trim the excess with a razor or exacto knife and pry it out gently as possible. Trim the edges of excess once the nub comes out and you will have a nub tbat perfectly fits in the window and on the bucking.
For range I still like a wider bore over tight bore. I use a davinci 6.05 407 mm with ES hop and it really gets out there but my 500mm Orga 6.13 with custom sugru nub and patch just reaches out and touches people from absolutely obscene distances on my wolverine.

what you are describing is an r-hop modification using sugru. Awesome method btw but it isn't really a "nub" for the hop up arm you are making, you are perfectly filling the barrel window for maximum friction. You would still need to choose the nub to put on your hop up arm wich again will affect the way the sugru patch is pushed into the barrel.

    • @msmithy7813

Bit flawed, you need to ensure both the Aeg and the MWS are the same Jules for a equal test, without NPAS adjustment the MWS was at 1.8J with the 0.4 so no wonder it was longer range over the 1.2J Aeg.... So in reality the sale pitch for the barrel bucking, actually BavTac nub / bucking on stock barrel is better than Unicorn.
