Before she says a word, it's clear she's still dwelling on what happened, and perhaps would've continued to wallow in that memory, wallow in guilt, for a long time. But once she talks it through and realizes that both she and Xena would make the same choices over again, and that regardless of what happens, they continue to choose to love and support each other... *then* she's able to let it go.
Maybe you could have contributed the money. Also the food they ate wasn't authentically from that time. And you missed some more points that could have added to your awareness.
I absolutely love this scene❤ It shows Gabrielle is starting to change and while it surprises and maybe even scares her, she let's it happen.. Living her life with Xena exceeds the threat of changing. And it shows one of the first times (in my opinion), how much they truely love each other and what they mean to each other💜 There is just this subtle change/difference I can't explain with words but their bond reached a new level so to speak.. I would love to make an study about the love and connection between women. Not focusing on a sexual level, but this level. Xena and Gabrielle level. Their relationship development is exquisite and rich. The strenght they give each other is a powerful tool for success. This show was/is amazing.
It ran for 6 years though. And Lucy Lawless herself wanted to end the show on season 4 because she was sick and tired of getting muddy and bruised all the time lol. She had to continue because of her contract and on season 6 you can clearly see that Lucy is so over it.

I was actually looking for the episode when they sit at a campfire and Xena NEARLY tells gabs she loves her but ends up say it partly or saying that's what she loves about her. I think it's season 2 because Gabs is wearing the blue and brown crop top.

Here is the thing, their relationship was fluid to say the least well on Xena's side, because Xena not only had a thing with men she also had somewhat of things with women. Gabrielle on the other hand, has had more relations with men and only sticks to Xena. So their relationship is on the line, but they're just not crossing it.
How I interpret it is that it indeed was fluid/poly but mostly as flings and occasionally a little more depth with other people. But their true emotional relationship was solely to each other as soulmates^^ That's the best I can get from what the show was allowed/'pushing the envelope' like Robert and other cast/crew stated :)
Throughout the seasons it went from all these love eyed boys falling in love with Gabrielle to all these love eyed ladies falling in love with Gabrielle and Gabrielle just continuously going, yeah you're nice but ya know... she's Xena 🥰🥰🥰
