I don’t like 21st century or modern version of the Predator. These old sounds define the creature as much as his look. I Also miss the ultra low resolution thermal which suggests he might use other “unknown senses” to hunt and the mask is a filter for bad vision on earth. The creature has gone from an organic hunter (the first two films) to a big tech hunter, the last two films plus AVP
@@huejazz6939the predators technology always stood out because it was both advanced and tribal the plasma caster had a very low tech industrial look for example, even Prey couldn't resist giving him overly techy mines and making the speargun a tracking projectile when every other film made it clear it just goes in a straight line the Predators tribal and low tech theming has gradually been lost in favour of being another clean techy advanced alien race
+Chas Gregg I imagine if you were in the movie, a triple red laser beam would be on your cowboy hat... followed by a plasma shot going right through it.
eh predators was good imo, better than predator 2 . similar atmosphere as the first, being stalked in a forest and not knowing wtf is going on. also i appreciate the more complex characters
I like that "vvvvvvvv" sound apearing in the thermal vision in the first Predator. Later they forgot it in the sequel and games. *bum bum bum bo bo bo bo - vvvvvvvvvv - bum bum bum bo bo bo bo*
THIS is the way I really like seeing a movie being made, showing the same way an explorer is fascinated with all the little differences between home and afar--a hunter's respect for the adventure. Not just Megan Fox running around screaming and something getting blown up.
The predator is my favorite movie monster, bar none (and this is coming from a person who grew up with Alien/Aliens, Terminator and the Thing) the predator is a monster similar to it's human foes and a dark reflection of it's human counterparts in it's brutality
+Haley Williams yes that is the Predator's heartbeat. John McTiernan (the director of Predator) wanted to have the creature to appear both technologically advanced yet organic. The "heartbeat" is an audio representation of the organic side of the creature.
@@SluffAdlin the red spine like pulse at the right hand side I always thought this was the predator scanning its victims heartbeat? I used to think this because when the predator was looking at the dead bodies it was very thin and didnt appear to pulse at all.
same here, and it goes very well with the visuals. I like the idea that the creature, much like a snake, doesn't rely strictly on its vision to hunt, but uses other, possibly mysterious senses (since it is an alien afterall). The low resolution thermal vision coupled with the ambient audio is meant to throw us (the audience) off a bit, but yet seems completely normal to the creature. This is something that the 21st Century films lost touch with. Yes they are technologically advanced but they are still natural hunters and skilled warriors.
Was anyone scared shitless of these moments as a kid? The sound effects are frightening and the vision, you know, you kind of can’t hide and you don’t really realise it. I’m not kidding I STILL get nightmares about the predator stalking me.
I love Predator so much :). The special effects , sound and the thermal vision is so cool :). They sure don’t make movies awesome like this nowadays . I admired Stan Winston for his work in the original Predator :)
Do you know how the predator clicking, roaring sounds were made? I know they are not in this video (except the clicking sounds), but how? I read somewhere that Peter Cullen did the "voice" for the predator...
When I shine a flashlight across the lawn at night and see the little red eyes staring back, I think this sound track best emulates what thinking is going on behind those red eyes. LOL
According to a commentary on the DVD, the heartbeat sound was created by mashing a pair of wet sponges inside a jar. Creepy as fuck. To this day, Predator is one of those movies I can't see alone at night without getting freaked out.
+mylesandkerria Because Anna says this only happens during the hottest years, and even in P2 its during a heat wave in LA, I just took that to mean that the Predator needs to absorb heat somehow, so when he picks up the scorpion his body absorbs the heat from the dead scorpion......maybe I am assuming wrong but thats what I always thought

El Scorpio (stunt actor Henry Kinji ) was in Predator. He was the long haired gorilla fighter trying to stop the truck, that Arnold rigged with an explosive, from crashing
For 20 years, I've been trying to figure out what the predator said in the Predator 2 meat packing warehouse scene. When he's flipping through different light filters, he finally finds one that sees their flashlights. Then you hear him speak, his voice sounds like Soundwave the Decepticon. WHAT DOES HE SAY????
I know its a bite late, but for what its worth in predator 2 the city hunter says: Mother of god... The same words Danny Archuleta said before being killed.
The 80s; best decade. Conan, Terminator, Elm street, Jason, Aliens, The Fly, Leathal Weapon, Predator, Lost boys, Warewolf in London, the Thing, Child's play, Rambo,Gonnies, Last Starfighter. The 80s

That ''anytime'' line coming out of nowhere and for no specific reason is fucking priceless!!
jhgepiquowe ty8 it was in the movie? At that exact scene.
I remember it from an old Future Sound of London Track, on ISDN.
The first predator film definitely had better sound effects.
definitely. also you got Arnie.

You don't have Predator's red vision (when he takes off the helmet).
When I am in a crowd I always turn on my predator mode to scan the girls.
This is what cats see when they're staring like psychos in the dark.
This used to freak me out so much, but when i was gonna see Arnold i was like its fine im safe
And he BARELY made it out alive. The Predator is the one nemesis that Arnold never -really- defeated and basically got his ass kicked.
