I feel like UT flowy is overall, much more chaotic and challenging since there is much more things on the screen and is harder compared to UTY flowey. I feel like the main phase should be a bit harder imo, but it looks much better for sure, not to mention the complete art style changes in UTYs. They both are good in their own ways, but I generally prefer UTs instead.
one key thing that makes og flowey more dangerous is the capacity to still act against the determination soul even though it still has the real control over the timeline unlike clovers justice soul (ignoring genocide clover the goat)
but like the yellow version is completely hopeless with literally zero chance of a real victory and the soul sections from the original and the other flowey’s show the soul sections start with a warning and the corresponding soul flashing on the tv while the flowey things start with flowey grabbing you and forcing you to choose which version for him you want to fight alongside a mocking “what would you like to do” finished with a “great” and the soul sections are relatively normal compared to the rest of the omega flowey fight while the other flowey’s are completely insane random and weird the soul sections end with you calling for help and freeing a soul from flowey’s control and the soul turns the attacks into healing the flowey sections end with you being returned to the fight and flowey giving you healing as maybe a sort of way to extend the fight even the fights end differently with omega flowey you call upon the souls and beat him in yellows fight flowey just gets bored and resets the game because he doesnt want an eternal fight

This comparison contrasts how op the red soul is. While the red soul is fighting flowey with 6 souls absorbed, Frisk still manages to hold on for the rest of the fight until the other souls come to help you out, clover doesn't have that luxury and is at the mercy of flowey because he doesn't have enough determination to fight flowey on equal ground. Flowey only lets Clover attack because it's all just a game to him. When he got tired at the end, he effectivally killed Clover without any efforts. Moral of the story: Red soul too op plz fix :)
no the reason that frisk can win and clover can’t is because clover is dead this is just a fight to see if flowey can absorb clover’s soul ( which is why clover’s soul can’t break, flowey wants to absorb you, not kill you) frisk is still alive in the omega flowey fight (so they can die unlike clover) moral of the story: you can’t win fights if you’re dead.

It's already shown that not every ending of the game results in the original game with the genocide ending, so what happens in the true future holds no weight on whether Clover wins a fight. They're just not determined enough to beat Flowey, not "the future cannot be changed" or whatever
I feel like the art styles, approach, and mechanics are fitting for each situation. Meta Flowey takes place in Flowey’s subconscious, where all the nasty intrusive thoughts go to die. It’s cruel and bleak and destroyed, more dreamlike than Omega because for Flowey to be active in this torment, he may be sleeping and dreaming of pain. Both sides have lost, so it’s time to start fresh. Omega Flowey is patchwork, something constructed of a destroyed reality. He’s so close to victory, so he attacks with reckless excitement. He plays with his new souls like toys, and for that they turn against him.
I absolutely love UTY, but it definitely doesn’t outdo Undertale. One was released in 2015, one in late 2023. Not to mention, without Undertale itself to build off of, UTY probably wouldn’t even exist, let alone be as good as it is.
I’m guessing there are at least a few fan games that he would consider “better” than his own work in certain aspects. I’d imagine a lot of the time he’d see something in a fan work and think “man, I should’ve done that in the actual game!” I sincerely doubt, though, that he thinks himself completely outdone by any one of these works. Undertale may not be as technically good as it theoretically could’ve been, but the execution of how to use the game to tell the story Toby wanted was best done by the man himself. Elements of any piece of art feed into the vision the creator has for it, thus if the creator has reached their vision, no one, no mater how superior in technical skill, can accomplish the vision more accurately than the creator themself.
Toby did greenlight the project himself all the way back in 2016 so I assume he always believed it was going to be great about the being outdone thing, I dont believe he ever feels "outdone" per se, just that he might find some idea in a fangame really good and maybe think "huh i coulda added that in the game" or something
Imo the OG Flowey fight is better. Don't get me wrong, the UTY Flowey fight isn't bad. The artstyle change adds a lot to the fight, and the way he's presented is creepier. But what makes me prefer the OG fight is that the story context gives the fight more of a punch. Flowey has been hellbent on killing you and stole the only chance you have at leaving the underground by killing asgore and destroying his soul and taking the human souls to add insult to injury. With that, he overrides your save just so that he can kill you over and over again. However, throughout the fight the other human souls help you. And when they come together to take down flowey it feels so cathartic. The one who was trying to screw you over and override your save is going down. You're taking down a godlike entity whose whole purpose is to tormet you. To take him down feels outright cleansing. But hey that's my opinion.
i feel like yellows fight is better because the protagonist doesn't have plot armor. you're already dead, you're just fighting to stop this goober from absorbing you while stuck in some nightmarish realm. the thought of actually winning never pops up because you can't do shit to this guy, its his mind. i also love how off putting phase 1 is, it's some twisted version of clovers memories. it already gives you the feeling that this beast is toying with you, which is only expressed harder throughout the fight
Undertale Yellow changes a lot, anytime I see the Yellow soul or a cowboy hat or a gun in Undertale related things, my brain rewires to “Clover reference?!”

Well no. 1. Flowey did have control over the timeline, but so did frisk. Also the fight was in floweys imagination since flowey absorbed clover. 2. His strongest ability was shifted because of us, the PLAYER. I doubt frisk would be strong at all if we never boarded frisk. Would’ve just died like the others. And the soul(s) are at constant denial at both versions. The UTY fight happens because clover is trying to resist floweys control
To me UTY Flowey is a win through and through. No contest. Music is more to my liking, the visuals are more chaotic and creepy, all the switching artstyles... Hell, even the circumstances of the entire fight resonate with me. UT Flowey is about overcoming an impossible threat. It's hard, but doable and very cathartic. UTY Flowey? He literally plays with Clover. Like a creepy child that "plays" with ants with a magnifying glass. The feeling of hopelessness as he just gets bored and waves Clover a new chance to kill Asgore. Just... Chef's kiss The yellow striped petal stage really unnerves me to no end... This, plus "what would you like to do?" face with those creepy eyes... Flowey is a complete sicko, and UTY did much better job conveying that, IMO
Still prefer the original however that couldn’t really be helped as the original had much more emotional weight due to the circumstances and cost of losing

Watching Clover's gun attack in Photoshop Flowey's fight and Clove in the UTY fight rlly makes me think that the souls are trying to fight flowey from inside and are just reliving their memories- OMG I'VE NEVR HAD SO MANY LIKES
Difficulty goes to original flowey Original flowers fight is more longer and chaotic yellows is guns vines and flowers in the main phase but in the other phases he is pretty difficult but original flowey throws things at you with variants of different attacks that are insanely fast like the weird flowers with teath the bombs the flamethrowers the vines the several pellets while trying to reach buttons and in yellow after a phase you automatically heal but it og you have to survive then touch the act to get healing but you have to get to the healing it definitely goes to og flowey

UTY flowey is the clear win for me, as not only did you leave out the first phase which is absolutely insane in all the right ways and is great in its own right, but the fight is just about 10x more unhinged and out there it’s uncanny. The different art styles make it much more creative and unhinged, I would quite honestly be surprised if the developers weren’t high when they were creating this monstrosity. Plus the musics just better in both phases.

..... ..... That is literally the only reason Clover can end the game in one piece. In Genocide (unofficial) we literally overcome Floweys determination and take over HIS powers of loading.
Flowey's ability to save and load is literally the entire crux of Undertale Yellow's lore. It's one massive existential time loop. Reset after reset after reset, load after load after load, Flowey continuing again and again and again stacking the deck in his favor to try and pull the strings in just such a way that manipulates Clover into the outcome he wants, but he's unable to, and eventually just gives up, settling with True Pacifist and waiting for the next human (Frisk).

Tbh I think uty is the best undertale fangame because unlike literally every fangame except undertale green (if that exists) this is a full game with that classic undertale feel along with some new things added to it.
If you really think about it frisk only won because clover was helping them (oh and ig the other 5 souls too) and in UTY flowey just keeps attacking but can’t kill you looking at clover the whole time but then he looks up at YOU the player and realizes because of you he can’t kill clover and clover isn’t strong enough to beat flowey and since he doesn’t want to fight you for the rest of eternity (cause that would honestly be boring asf) he resets the timeline in hopes that if you do remember something you’ll choose a different outcome (vengeance or pacifist) because neutral will just cause a repeat of what just happened.
Omega Flowey is more cathartic and intense, and just plain better story-wise. It also scared me shitless back in the day, while Meta Flowey is just mildly creepy. Then again, I've played the original 7 years ago when I was a good bit younger and more impressionable, but "Meta" Flowey ironically doesn't go as meta as Omega Flowey and doesn't crash your game or destroy your saves before your eyes. That was the scariest part for me back in the day, when Flowey promised to save and reload my death. He never actually did this, but I didn't know that when fighting him! The idea of opening the game and the only thing you see is your character getting killed was very intimidating to me, the feeling of me not being good enough leading directly to their suffering. I still think some horror game should actually try this. Still, that's not to say the Meta Flowey fight isn't extremely impressive and a great callback to the original while still keeping things fresh and thrilling.

They completely ignore literally everything that happens in the Omega Flowey fight and just say "Meta Flowey Better because Artstyle Switch" (Which is funny considering Artstyle Switch has been done 10000 times over and Omega Flowey's "He's beyond the game" idea is far better)
I just think UTY does everything photoshop did but better. The change of artstyles, the different phases, and the horror aspect. The tv and face of omega is good and all but it can only carry it so far when the tv constantly switches.
Undertale is better than Undertale Yellow overall, but I think UTY is better in some aspects, like how every enemy appears hurt when they're at half HP. Its a neat little detail. They also react to it, and react to you killing the other enemy if there were two or three enemies. I also think Nightmare Flowey (Undertale Yellow Flowey, I just made up a name since idk what he's call in game) is better than Omega Flowey in terms of uncannyness an design and the battle itself. And the Omega Flowey battle is the best part of the game to me. Undertale Yellow is like 80% as good as Undertale, which is very good especially for fanegame.

If I’m choosing over how terrifying between these two. It’s definitely Photoshop Flowey no question needs to be asked. The realistic look that doesn’t belong in Undertale. The whole fight is just all absolutely terrifying. But if I’m talking about creativity it’s by a long shot UTY Flowey. Just take in how creative everything about UTY Flowey really is. The many different art styles. You will be surprised because there will be new stuff literally every 30 seconds. Me personally I think Photoshop Flowey is by far better.
Meta Flowey is the Flowey I was waiting for after watching Photoshop Flowey... After absorbing 6 souls, it would seem that he became the God of the game and could do whatever he wanted, but in the end he is a simple boss in games who inspires fear and surprise, but then I don’t believe in his strength. Meta Flowey showed all the helplessness of the soul and how strong and powerful he is in the game, how determined he is. The fact that it was HE who savepoins us in the game worries us greatly, because now our savior wants to kill us.
in neutral run , martlet sends you a letter to meet on a rooftop, and if you go then flowey gets impatient because you're going offtrack and not heading to king asgores castle so he kills martlet and fights you

To me UTY Flowey is a win through and through. No contest. Music is more to my liking, the visuals are more chaotic and creepy, all the switching artstyles... Hell, even the circumstances of the entire fight resonate with me. UT Flowey is about overcoming an impossible threat. It's hard, but doable and very cathartic. UTY Flowey? He literally plays with Clover. Like a creepy child that "plays" with ants with a magnifying glass. The feeling of hopelessness as he just gets bored and waves Clover a new chance to kill Asgore. Just... Chef's kiss
The yellow striped petal stage really unnerves me to no end... This, plus "what would you like to do?" face with those creepy eyes... Flowey is a complete sicko, and UTY did much better job conveying that, IMO

Watching Clover's gun attack in Photoshop Flowey's fight and Clove in the UTY fight rlly makes me think that the souls are trying to fight flowey from inside and are just reliving their memories- OMG I'VE NEVR HAD SO MANY LIKES

Original flowers fight is more longer and chaotic yellows is guns vines and flowers in the main phase but in the other phases he is pretty difficult but original flowey throws things at you with variants of different attacks that are insanely fast like the weird flowers with teath the bombs the flamethrowers the vines the several pellets while trying to reach buttons and in yellow after a phase you automatically heal but it og you have to survive then touch the act to get healing but you have to get to the healing it definitely goes to og flowey

UTY flowey is the clear win for me, as not only did you leave out the first phase which is absolutely insane in all the right ways and is great in its own right, but the fight is just about 10x more unhinged and out there it’s uncanny. The different art styles make it much more creative and unhinged, I would quite honestly be surprised if the developers weren’t high when they were creating this monstrosity. Plus the musics just better in both phases.

Flowey's ability to save and load is literally the entire crux of Undertale Yellow's lore. It's one massive existential time loop. Reset after reset after reset, load after load after load, Flowey continuing again and again and again stacking the deck in his favor to try and pull the strings in just such a way that manipulates Clover into the outcome he wants, but he's unable to, and eventually just gives up, settling with True Pacifist and waiting for the next human (Frisk).

If you really think about it frisk only won because clover was helping them (oh and ig the other 5 souls too) and in UTY flowey just keeps attacking but can’t kill you looking at clover the whole time but then he looks up at YOU the player and realizes because of you he can’t kill clover and clover isn’t strong enough to beat flowey and since he doesn’t want to fight you for the rest of eternity (cause that would honestly be boring asf) he resets the timeline in hopes that if you do remember something you’ll choose a different outcome (vengeance or pacifist) because neutral will just cause a repeat of what just happened.

I came up with a concept for a mod that I like to call, undertale rainbow, which features not only clover, but the other souls as well.
Omega Flowey is more cathartic and intense, and just plain better story-wise. It also scared me shitless back in the day, while Meta Flowey is just mildly creepy. Then again, I've played the original 7 years ago when I was a good bit younger and more impressionable, but "Meta" Flowey ironically doesn't go as meta as Omega Flowey and doesn't crash your game or destroy your saves before your eyes. That was the scariest part for me back in the day, when Flowey promised to save and reload my death. He never actually did this, but I didn't know that when fighting him! The idea of opening the game and the only thing you see is your character getting killed was very intimidating to me, the feeling of me not being good enough leading directly to their suffering. I still think some horror game should actually try this. Still, that's not to say the Meta Flowey fight isn't extremely impressive and a great callback to the original while still keeping things fresh and thrilling.

Undertale is better than Undertale Yellow overall, but I think UTY is better in some aspects, like how every enemy appears hurt when they're at half HP. Its a neat little detail. They also react to it, and react to you killing the other enemy if there were two or three enemies. I also think Nightmare Flowey (Undertale Yellow Flowey, I just made up a name since idk what he's call in game) is better than Omega Flowey in terms of uncannyness an design and the battle itself. And the Omega Flowey battle is the best part of the game to me.
Undertale Yellow is like 80% as good as Undertale, which is very good especially for fanegame.

After absorbing 6 souls, it would seem that he became the God of the game and could do whatever he wanted, but in the end he is a simple boss in games who inspires fear and surprise, but then I don’t believe in his strength. Meta Flowey showed all the helplessness of the soul and how strong and powerful he is in the game, how determined he is. The fact that it was HE who savepoins us in the game worries us greatly, because now our savior wants to kill us.
