  • The Russian shelling of the Lviv Museum of UPA Corporal Roman Shukhevych once again reminded us that the modern Russian regime is not only about the psychopathic imperialist Putin, but also about the centuries-old war against Ukrainian statehood and independence.
The story of Roman Shukhevych's daughter, Maria Trilyovska, about the broken fate of the UPA commander's family members and her personal life path is reminiscent of episodes from the terrible modern times. In particular, about the same methods of persecution and murder of pro-Ukrainian residents in the occupied territories.
Arrests, imprisonment, torture, shootings - everything that we are currently witnessing from the side of the criminal Russian regime, the Shukhevych family also experienced.
In 1941, Roman's half-brother, engineer and musician Yury Shukhevych, was arrested on the street, and later his mutilated body was found in the Lviv prison. The mother and father of the UPA commander were sent into exile. It is still unknown where his father is buried.
No one knows where the body of Shukhevych's mother-in-law is either. In 1945, she was arrested together with her daughter, Roman's wife Nataliya Berezynska-Shukhevych, and two minor children, 12-year-old Yurk and almost 5-year-old Marusya.
Then the grandmother was separated from her daughter and grandchildren. She, constantly crying in prison, died. The children were also taken away from their mother - Yurko and Marusya were taken first to an orphanage in Chornobyl, and then to Stalino (modern Donetsk).
The story of the deportation of Shukhevych's children is very similar to the deportation of modern Ukrainian children to Russia.
Roman Shukhevych's daughter was adopted by another woman. The girl was issued a new birth certificate, where not only the year of birth was changed, but also the nationality - it was entered as Russian.
Only ten years later, Maria found out the truth - when she received a letter from her own mother, about whom she thought that she, like her father, had died.
In response to her mother's letter, Maria told about her successes - that she had become a Komsomol member, and that she had greatly injured her mother, who was imprisoned in Soviet camps.
