Holy shit, I've been waiting for a decent youtuber to play this archaic obscure AF game. I somehow ended up with a copy of this as a kid and I've never heard another person so much as acknowledge its existence.
I think Chakan the screw up really is just another monster who’s deluded himself to the point of thinking he beat death itself. And possibly everything he slays is evil in his mind, when really they’re just the inhabitants of the world he’s wondering and bumbling about. This is a truly sad tale of an undead who lost his mind over thousands of years of being made to live forever, thinking himself the greatest swordsmen, when really he’s just a crazy fool. Just my viewpoint on this game.
As with many old school console games, both NES and Sega Genesis, the basic graphics engine and sound banks got borrowed, reused, upchucked, regurgitated from one game to another. I'm glad that you also noticed the sameness in Chakan as X-Men 2 Clone Wars...still though, i rate both games highly in entertainment value...even though the potion combining made Chakan a bit more...tedious, to say the least.
I just love how in this day and age, in which there is literally thousands of gigabytes of information at everyone's fingertips, that no-one thinks to look up shit and spout the same old stupid question; "WHAT DO YOU DO?!!!"
@@pex_the_unalivedrunk6785 the controls and hit detection in this game are very responsive and precise, and the music is one of the best things about the game. Made great use of the sound chips. I can't believe people have such a shit take on it. Probably just not very good at hardcore games like this.

The atmosphere of this game looks awesome (I've always been a sucker for dark medieval/gothic artstyles), but the lack of polish with the gameplay really holds it back.
Man I watch Throthgar so much that his way of talking is starting to rub off on me when I like games I even start to call the characters I play inept or what how you spell it
Lmao. My friend’s older brother Ed Annunziata produced this game along with Ecco The Dolphin back in the day. He was a big fan of John C. Chakan has been for some many many years one of my favorite Genesis games....i dunno wtf this idiot's problem is. He's faker than James Rolf AVGN. The best part of this game is pretending to be a flight control guy on the deck of an aircraft carrier trying to guide the jet in for a landing with your glowing light sticks...OMG! Dude...just bear with me & try it with the d-pad and the swords and it's like...ok. Well...also, getting to choose which level you start on gives it a Mega Man feel...almost...also, dying and coming back is almost like Soul Reaver (Legacy of Kain)...i mean...seriously! YOU ARE THE FOREVER MAN! YOU ARE CHAKAN! It's in my top 10 Sega Genesis Games...fight me.
i think you killed one of the bosses on the sky stage, i mean the demon that took a long time to die. it kind of looked like the face of the monster you see in the portal.
@@mokenetgumshoe1064 The game definitely has issues, but it's also incredibly creative, being more an action RPG than the Shinobi style game many people assume it to be. It also did the immortality mechanic 20 years before Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.
On the other hand...a remaster or remake could fix the issues and make it into a great game. The game has lots of great ideas but implements them clunkily. The game changed devs mid way, I think.

Your take on this game is shit
Holy fuck watching you play is painful. Talk about "inept," holy fucking shit dude...
After watching enough retro rage, I've noticed the phrase "this ____ is f*cking abysmal" has entered my vocabulary. Never stop raging, my man
"you inept fuckup!!" Has to be my favorite throthgar quote 🤣

ChaKUNT..I love going back to these old rages while I'm drinking a YooHoo!
Throthgar's struggle and misery with these old games always puts a smile on my face
This game is very reminiscent of the X-Men game; was only able beat a couple of stages when I was little
Agreed. loved Xmen 2 on genesys
The guys who made Chakan also made the two X-Men games.

“This music’s awful” Funny, that’s how I feel about chill-hop radio streams on RUclips
Chakakan? More like Chaka CAN'T! I'll see myself out.
Death itself was taken completely aback? Jeeze
If your character can kill "Death" itself, then you know you have a groan-worthy game

The arrogance of Chakan the Inept Man!

Eddie's key adventures in video games.
Joshua Snyder UP THE IRONS
Inept as the trooper in the video game realm! Seventh son of the seventh village idiot!
Sledgehammer and he lives at 22 Asshole Ave.

LOOOOOLL!!! Man, I fucking swear I was reading and saying "Chaka Khan" from the beginning!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Made me think of Chakan Khan's legrndary showdown with the BeeGee's. :-)
Sounds like bill Murray when played the grounds keeper from caddyshack.. At least he will achieve total consciousness on his death bed..
7:42 you can poke upward HEYYYY!
The music and sound fx blow ass... Original plot though
I requested this game a lot on his streams lol i knew the game sucked, perfect for retro rage haha

Jurrsic Park, the Sega version. I recommend it.

Key thing is to play practice mode first, and use that to experiment with the potions, before playing the game proper.
You should do game review's. It would be cool to get your opinion.
The bosses are garbage, there is not even a strategy involved, just hit and get hit
