I’ve been bumping Naughty ByNature since the early 90’s when they put out O.P.P. I’m 46 and still smash their music. They’ve always put it down. The group is far too underrated. I say it here and there in comments. Treach and Vinnie are lyricists. I do my best to kick people game on who’s dope from when I was a kid. Digital Underground is another group I grew up listening to. They made some dope organic shit. They could actually play. Don’t sleep on the groups from the 80’s and 90’s. It might seem dated but a classic is a classic!
I love Em but there's is no doubt Treach is his biggest lyrical influence and we took teach for granted in reflection! He looked to tuff to be a genius!! Love it
I'm born and raised in New jersey.....treach is a legend in these parts. No one dare ever step to treach.....my man is a legend. And can stand toe to toe with anyone. Reppin dirty jersey !!!!!!!
This song is still a banger. Funny anecdote at 2:59 when he mentions "I'm hittin Jermaine in Atlanta because he owe me loot for that Jump shit." That's because NBN didn't get credit on jump for that little phrase "yeah you know me" in the song. It was from OPP. It was eventually settled and NBN is credited as a song writer (and gets royalties) off of Jump but I guess as of 1995 when this came out and 1992 when Jump came out it still wasn't settled.
About two years ago, I was listening to hip hop hooray and I was amazed at how peaceful and upbeat it was and at the same time, hardcore. I deeply enjoy naughty by nature and they were instantly ranked (by me) at the top with the rest of the greats who deserve respect for shaping the good side of real underground hip hop. Thank you naughty by nature for showing up. I appreciate the fact that they didnt just stay quiet while even average joes got more famous. Naughty by nature is making music in 2019.. even with the mumble rappers, I have faith that hip-hop is on an important track. I have faith in Hip-Hop. #IntelligentMovement
hello to all men! I am from Central Asia, more precisely from the Kirgiz Republic. I remember when I was young, maybe 98 or 99 we would gather in the basement and put on a cassette tape, and we were the craziest. although we didn’t understand English, but we swayed to these beats plus wicked bounce and 2pac tracks, I remained true to myself to this day and will not change
This popped up in my recommendations after watching the Treach/Fat Joe pod, and this song, along with It's On and Uptown Anthem, are foremost in my mind when I reminisce on Naughty. That dude's cadence is evidence of the jazz/scat element of true effortless bars, and the case for quality standing the test of time. What's crazy is, I'm only noticing 30 odd years later:- A) How much a lot of Eminem's beats sound Kaygee-esque, and how evocative of Treach his flow is in places. B) How many hits they had. Maybe obvious with retrospect.
I truly forgot her how soow this track is, not to mention, I think this album was pretty hot too!! Bout to take an audio voyage back in time to the land they call CLASSIC.
I remember buying the Poverty's Paradise album when I was about 12 or 13 on cassette when I was on a school trip to France because I wanted some new hip-hop for my Walkman...I hid the cassette case for about 3 years because it was the first (legal) album I owned with a Parental Advisory on it and at the age of 12 I thought my parents would flip if they saw it in my collection amongst all the other copied, fake labeled albums! Treach didn’t get the respect he deserved back then. He was way too far ahead of his time. This track is a lyrical masterclass.

I know what Shady meant when he said he's still tryna catch up to Treach's verse on this. His flow is unique and his rapping is incredible!
