Euston is the Penn Station of London. Kings Cross, Paddington and other termini are so much nicer looking.

They should have upgraded the original Easton Station instead of tearing it down.

@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist Agreed. And that’s exactly what New Yorkers think of Penn Station, built around the same time as Euston with similar modern/brutalist architecture. It hasn’t aged well.
To think, they almost did the same with the beautiful Grand Central Station.

@@RoadCone411 but, I heard the remake of the Newest Penn station isn’t bad. The one built in the 60s was such an unbelievable bad idea, I wish they would make a statue of the man who made that decision to tear down the old Penn as a monument to bad ideas.

@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist You’re right, there is a new hall that Amtrak passengers use and it’s very good. However, the vast majority of commuters using the Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit are stuck using the functionally obsolete 1960s eyesore.

Hearing Rhyl being said in London feels weird to me but I definitely need to go back to London

@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist Thanks. I only ask I got a lot of attention with my Canon Legria flip camera by security in London. The chasis on the T4i looks like a still image camera and therefore assumed for still image photography.

David Droid ...re: camera. It was 50/50 for me. Half the stations I went unnoticed, the other time I went to Network Rail offices in each station and received permission and photographers badge.

It's ugly, dirty, badly laid out and badly managed by Network Rail who only care about creating more retail space. Sadly the beautiful station that was there is no more. This is a monstrosity - I hate this station.

Michael Bolton ...your name is Michael Bolton, and all I can think of is the guy in the movie “Office Space”. And the face he made when anyone mentioned the somewhat famous singer’s name.

The worst terminus in London. What a tragedy knocking down the old Euston and replacing it with this 60's dysfunctional carbuncle was...

Daniel Eyre ...agreed. I heard a rumor they might restore and rebuild the big colonnade entrance.

Not as bad as fenchurch street, it's very small and poor

To me, the problem with 1960s Euston - other than the failure of the architects to integrate the old buildings into the new design - was it was all about function with little thought to aesthetics. As I understand it, it actually functioned pretty well as a station when first built, but it's a faceless, characterless concrete box (I know it has its defenders, but they are thin on the ground.) It's perfectly possible to combine great function with great beauty, lets hope that happens.
