  • The Allegheny Mountains was the first natural test the United States had to attempt to tame in order to expand. While there are many famed routes over the range; Horseshoe Curve, The Lincoln Highway, there was a relatively short lived crossing that is quite unique in design & use.     I think that the canal building of Pennsylvania is a forgotten part of our state history. It's unfortunate so little remains, it's almost impossible to visualize what it was like.
