The story behind the song and video is that when she was younger, a boyfriend of hers was killed in a car accident, prompting a suicide attempt. She was institutionalized after this due to her latent depression and schizophrenia. She is now (like her 7 years later) a huge advocate for mental health care. Many of Stien's songs deal with mental illness and sadness, but usually in a way that gives some hope. The moth tattoo is hers true hers tattoo and it is supposed to be a symbol of hers because moths always chase the light or try to find her even in the dark. So this video shows that story of her fighting with her boyfriend, he goes off and dies in an accident and the light is supposed to represent him, and she's the moth. I think the song is kind of a tribute to him.

We see an aberration of light walking slowly through (what we presume to be) her house, this could be a symbol with a double meaning,on the one side it could be her as she is in the process of fully owning her experiences, which makes her radiate again to the ful extent of her being or on the other side it could be interpretated as the spectre of him as the memories about him still comes back in ful force, like suddenly smelling his/her scent making memories rushing in coming to haunt you for a certain time

We are taken back to the start of our journey,back at the first scene,we get to see what triggered this journey and we notice that it is a motorbike (his or resembling his) so this could actually mean that the storyline is about the death of her boyfriend, which could be open to discussion as we not have witnessed the actual crash, furthermore we see her walk away as if she is going on with life
Scene 17
We see her as the light within her fades away,as symbolism for the end of the mourning period of her loss, sometimes by some defined as "le petite mort" the little death, that moment that our consciousness gets on with life and the memories fade because of other new memories.the soft reprisal of the chorus supports this notion
So we have gone through the loss ,the hurt,the mental struggle,the ground dropping beneath your feet,the denial, the anger, the acceptance ,the embrace of reality,the growth/lessons of the mourning process in this song which was a poetic way for us to relate to

No it’s not…. It’s about her time when she was struggling with depression. In the interview she gave when the song was released she said that she wanted to embrace the sadness, that it’s okay for the sadness to be there and that everyone goes through it. And now with her releasing the song and participating in Eurovision she wants to show that everything can and will be okay in the end, and that everyone can overcome their sadness

The story behind the song and video is that when she was younger, a boyfriend of hers was killed in a car accident, prompting a suicide attempt. She was institutionalized after this due to her latent depression and schizophrenia. She is now (like her 7 years later) a huge advocate for mental health care. Many of Stien's songs deal with mental illness and sadness, but usually in a way that gives some hope. The moth tattoo is hers true hers tattoo and it is supposed to be a symbol of hers because moths always chase the light or try to find her even in the dark. So this video shows that story of her fighting with her boyfriend, he goes off and dies in an accident and the light is supposed to represent him, and she's the moth. I think the song is kind of a tribute to him.

They both are deceased. Her boyfriend had a motorcycle accident. Then the girl was so depressed that she comitted suicide, she locked herself in the fridge and suffocated. You entity that you saw was her boyfriend. And in the and her light went out. Very sad story.

Nobody in The Netherlands ever heard about this lady. She was never on the radio or wherever. But, we have people like Emma Heesters, Tino Martin, and Davina Michelle. Among others. This lady had not earned the right to represent the Dutch at all. It's false politics... she is a nobody and has had no hits at all ever before. I would like to have seen Davina Michelle in her place.
