Ip Man 2008 is the 2nd film in the Ip Man biographical film series with wing chun martial arts, which we will discuss.
Ip Man is an affluent martial artist from Foshan city. Although Foshan has many martial arts schools, Ip Man is reluctant to accept students. However, people recognize his capable abilities and call him Master Ip.
In October 1937, Japanese troops commanded by General Miura (Hiroyuki Ikeuchi) arrived in China and occupied the city of Foshan. Ip Man's family, which was originally located, has now turned around and has to endure the bitterness of colonialism.
Ip Man's house was also seized by the Japanese army and became the army headquarters. General Miura who loves martial arts holds a fighting tournament. Those who are able to defeat the Japanese fighters will get a bag of rice as a prize.
One of the martial arts experts who is Ip Man's best friend joins the fight to get a prize. But apparently he was shot by Japanese soldiers to death. Seeing this, Ip Man was furious and willing to fight 10 Japanese fighters at once. Ip Man beat them all.
General Miura who was impressed by Ip Man's ability asked this wing chun expert to teach the Japanese people. But Ip Man refused until General Miura was angered and challenged Ip Man to fight in front of the Foshan people.
Ip Man's various intrigues and struggles against the atrocities of the invaders are told in this film. Wing chun as a martial art further cemented its position when Ip Man began to teach the people of Foshan self-defense to defend themselves against the arbitrary actions of the Japanese army.
