I think AEW doesn’t have DQ because of how much and how WWE had presented it and how it’s perceived. I think when they do it that it will make it more impactful
Yea it’s a shame that WWE has raped the use of the DQ to the point where you see AEW afraid to ever even use it, which is annoying because DQs are a staple of wrestling and when you establish parameters in which they exist they make booking certain things and the psychology of certain matches so much better but AEW have chosen to do it their way so I guess it is what it is
@@ZeroShaneBob They already did the DQ twice last year. First one was on Kenny Omega vs PAC III in 30 Minutes Iron Man Match, yet it was considered as a DQ fall. The second one was Brandon Cutler vs Peter Avalon II on AEW Dark, ended with a Double DQ after previously it was ended with Double Countout.
AEW does shit that should result in a DQ, the fact that the referees see heels cheating and do nothing hurts the product. This not trying to be like WWE bs, hurts AEW in alot of ways. You can distinguish yourself as the alternative to WWE, without shitting on all the things that have helped progress a story in wrestling for the last 100 years
I preferred Omega and Bryan due to the big fight feel and the hype of Bryan’s first non WWE match in a decade. But this was great, I really hope they have a rematch on that special show on the 8th.
I fully agree. Omega vs Bryan felt like a HUGE moment. It's the kind of dream opponent fans of Kenny have been dying for him to have as well. I don't really agree with all of Cornette's opinions on Omega. The guy is still one of the biggest names to never step foot onto a WWE show, so seeing one of WWE's biggest made names facing him was a great moment.
@@ZeroShaneBob couldn’t agree with you more. I just hope Kenny comes back at the closest he can be to 100% so we can see a rematch with him and Danielson as well as against Punk, Cole and Darby down the line
@@Harry-sc1xk in their defense (the wrestlers, I mean) their respective losses didn't mean what typical losses mean. At least not in AEW. Miro lost to one of the pillars of AEW and that was a huge deal, as it was a title match to boot. Malakai Black lost to Cody Rhodes and right away went to social media to say that his whole plan was to turn the audience against him, whether he won or lost (which he knew would be more potent if he lost) and that's exactly what he delivered on, as Cody Rhodes has been booed ever since while Malakai Black has gone back to being dominant while he builds up his new faction.
Well according to the weirdo WWE fans on twitter... it was "too long" and i guess they prefer 12 minute matches that end in DQ's and 65 camera cuts. It's so wild to me the amount of complaining i read, there were literally people saying it should've been a DQ...ffs. But honestly ive seen more pro cornette fans at AEW shows then anti ones which is very telling. Been pretty cool to see Cornette warming up to AEW while also trashing the shitty stuff (rightfully so)
To each his own thing,, you need to consider that some fans have watched WWE for so long they dont even know that what they are doing is not what mainstream ProWrestling looked like.
Corny might not love everything about AEW (Omega, The Bucks, OC), but he does seem to enjoy the rest of it. With Kyle O'Reilly showing up soon it will give him another wrestler he can enjoy.
I can't wait for Adam to get away from the Bucks, i like the Bucks but i cannot stand this version of the Bucks and it's not "heat", it's literal go away heat because it's just too absurd. Kyle is coming and they'll form the Undisputed Elite
i really had no idea where they could've gone with this match initially. i felt like they booked themselves into a corner and that the only outcome would've been either a 30 min draw or Bryan going over. i didn't think they would have the guts to do a free TV 60 min Broadway. but this was the best thing they could've done for this match. Page has had a few decent matches but nothing that really sold me as him being a real super star. This match was a star making performance from him and in a way almost like a rite of passage in having him prove that he's worth his weight in gold by going 60 min. of course, the other major purpose of this match was to solidify Bryan Danielson's legacy in wrestling as one of the best the world has ever seen, if not certainly being the best contemporary wrestler right now. they told a really great story with some good layers here. Bryan Danielson not taking Page seriously initially, being cocky with the jumping jacks, smiling as he ducked outside of the ropes while Page in fiery cowboy temper growing impatient with Danielson. over the match, Danielson would be forced to take Page more seriously and you can tell because of the way he would build his offense and then really trying to dig into the wound over Page's forehead. the match got really good for me when Danielson and Page inched towards the corner and Danielson kicked the ring post. That was his first major mistake in the match. His kicks with his left leg would grow weak, he'd have to take off the knee pad to expose the bandage over his left knee, he would use to lesser effect his right leg to kick at Page. But eventually, Danielson would manage start attacking Page's arm because he knew that the Buckshot Lariat would kill him. Page crashing to the outside on the table spot was great. Also, I cringed when Page took that shove from the failed moonsault to the apron. They sold fatigue towards the end and Bryan trying to avoid the Buckshot Lariat in skinning the cat but getting nailed. for myself, this was the best match i've seen in AEW. it's definitely been the best match on TV in a long time. the major rough spot was the time limit draw. they need to work on that. almost everything else here for me was great. Page showed he can go. He proved himself that he is world championship material. i get that they put this match first but it really killed every other match on the show. i felt bad for Shida and Deeb especially because they had a decent contest. Wardlow vs Brad Armstr...i mean Matt Sydal was what it needed to be. But the layering of this show still is what hurt. And it really was a one match show, even though MJF vs Dante Martin was for the finals. now, the good part is that Tony Khan has said that Bryan Danielson still is the #1 contender for the belt. So this situation isn't over, which is great because Bryan still needs to be in that top picture by going after the belt. Yet again what can they do to top this? the only thing that I can see is to have them wrestle at their next PPV for a 60 minute Iron Man match. most pinfalls/submissions wins the belt. i don't want to see a 2/3 falls match, a street fight, a cage match, an exploding barbed wire cage/pool match. i want to see the next logical thing that these guys need to prove to each other. but we already have the precedent of 60 min and it would make no sense for them to do a ton of spots for 20 min.
Danielson was the perfect opponent to validate Hangman. They hit it on the head by doing the 60min Broadway and now what i see going forward is more 60 min broadways. Kinda like the Joe/Punk feud in RoH. Spread out over a couple of ppvs, this can get Bryan the belt and make for a feud of the century. With the ultimate goal of setting up Bryan proper for Omega's return and deciding their draw.
You have Moxley come back (if he is ready)and beat Danielson by cheating. Moves Mox up for the next contender and move danielson down to do some NJPW stuff until a summer PPv and run back Page vs Danielson
This is probably Danielson's best match in AEW. Hangman was great too but it was Bryan who showed why he is one of the greatest modern wrestlers, even with a match with a draw ending.
I love the suzuki match as well. To be honest im impressed with daniel and produce a 5star classic puroresu style and have 5star modern kingroad style with omega and will have more and then go have a 5star classic old school style with hangman. AEW literally provide all style of wrestling on their show. If danielson does a 5star old school british from world of sport days and boom hes is the all time greatest easily

This is the best I’ve seen anyone wrestle around commercials I was worried about page when ever they went to break so I wanted to stay there to see what was happening to him When they came back it was always with a move or right before a move

I’m going to look back and say I may not have watched during the first year but I am damn sure going to watch from now on.
I was NEVER a Bryan Danielson fan when he was in WWE. I thought he was boring. In AEW I fucking love the guy. He's a different beast. He's free in the wild. It's CRAZY!
Been waiting for this breakdown since I watched the match live. This match was everything AEW has wanted to be since their inception. Sport based presentation. I’ve long been convinced Bryan danielson could get a stellar match out of anyone, but hangman going on this journey with him, building this and saving all his big spots for the last 5-7 minutes was a work of art. Punk-MJF is the only matchup I could see coming close to this in that company as of right now.
Cornette said he was going to stick around and watch AEW until they get it right, well it was a long slog, but they finally got there. AEW does more good than bad now, which I’m happy with. WWE is boring.
If AEW delivered more of these types of matches, they would be destroying WWE in terms of quality and viewership. It's just that they're so bi-polar as a company with the nonsense they offer. More of this and less with the comedy.
ARE YOU INSANE??? Page has been in street clothes since winning the title... been on TV all of 25mins since winning the belt... then eats an hour of TV time to no decision?? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!
They are destroying WWE in terms of quality. They're also doing a bit of what everyone likes about wrestling. For all the people that don't like the comedy styled stuff, there are people that do. Not everyone's gonna like everything on an AEW show, but in contrast to WWE, there's always something for everyone to like. But consider too that without the goofy shit that Hangman did with the Dark Order and all of that storyline, Page doing what he's doing now would definitely not mean quite as much.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 You're discounting the ability of people to continue tuning in to something because it's just what they always have done. Fact is that if they weren't beating WWE in terms of quality programming, they wouldn't have grown to what they have in such a short time, they'd just be another TNA.

Agreed with everything minus the ending. Ringing the bell for time expired whilst in a pin would have felt incredibly cliche. Ringing the bell when it did kept the authenticity for me as a genuine athletic contest
This was a God Tier match... the talent that these two have shown in the ring totally stands out and stands above the majority of everything else that happened in the show.

THANK YOU for calling out the obvious cooperation in the superplex spot. Wish there was a way to make it not seem so blatant on TV, but it is what it is.

Worst he can say is "thank you, fuck you, bye!".
"Its so old its new" That's exactly what I have been waiting for ... for wrestling to get to a point where actual, solid, realistic contest based wrestling as opposed to spot fests and non stop theatrics are more entertaining than the state of "wrestling" we've had for the last 15 years.
Great match. Danielson has been gold, complete gold since debuting on AEW television. His matches are all well put together, it's two to tango so he leads, he really is a great wrestler he is that guy u are guaranteed a great match from he puts a match together great the psychology is there. They do do time calls regularly in every match. At least both shows I've seen. We always get the "ten minutes gone by, ten minute remain" kind of call. I don't know how often, I've never noticed, but they are very consistent with that.
I wouldn't have been annoyed with the draw finish....if they didn't already do it months ago with Danielson vs Omega. This result just felt like a copout.

I think AEW doesn’t have DQ because of how much and how WWE had presented it and how it’s perceived. I think when they do it that it will make it more impactful
Yea it’s a shame that WWE has raped the use of the DQ to the point where you see AEW afraid to ever even use it, which is annoying because DQs are a staple of wrestling and when you establish parameters in which they exist they make booking certain things and the psychology of certain matches so much better but AEW have chosen to do it their way so I guess it is what it is
AEW has existed for so long with no DQ now that it sort of feels like it has lost all meaning if they try to do it now.

Really.
Brian Danielson is the new Bret Hart.
He genuinely can make anyone look good.
Totally agree
i really had no idea where they could've gone with this match initially. i felt like they booked themselves into a corner and that the only outcome would've been either a 30 min draw or Bryan going over. i didn't think they would have the guts to do a free TV 60 min Broadway. but this was the best thing they could've done for this match.
@@Brian-my7hn disagree, Mox is upper miscard at best along with Jericho
This was one of the few times I was not only excited but had no idea where it was going. Great combo.

If AEW delivered more of these types of matches, they would be destroying WWE in terms of quality and viewership. It's just that they're so bi-polar as a company with the nonsense they offer. More of this and less with the comedy.

Not everyone's gonna like everything on an AEW show, but in contrast to WWE, there's always something for everyone to like.
