After my battery conked, the electric handbreak motor was jammed and not releasing the handbreak, I couldnt use the emergency pull cord in the boot as it had recently been used by a garage.
After trying several things and a lot of swaring, I was given the tip to try this.
Thank god it worked for me and hope it does for you too.
The handbreak fault is still showing on the dash though!
I was changing the tyre, then all of a sudden as I drove away I noticed parking brake not working!!! I (as a woman driver) thought I broke something 😮😢 worries consumed me until I found your video. Thanks so much!!!! Auto shops would have charged me an arm and my leg lol to fix 💰💲💸😅😊 from RSA

Yo he tratado de hacer lo mismo Pero no me funciona... Pongo la tarjeta y doy Star sin pisar el freno, abro la puerta, Pero cuando óptimo el boton de cerrado de la tarjeta se va la corriente del display y al poner Star no hace nada.......😢. Y la manija del baúl debajo del tapete entre las sillas que función tiene? Gracias si me puedes ayudar
Renault Grand Scenic 2006 - brake was not releasing, no sound from the motor, even when pulled the lever. Warning message and symbols were showing on display.

I’m confused do continue to hold key fob and start whilst pulling the hand brake cable or after also you said passenger door did you mean drivers side ?

Hello, when I started the car there was a loud noise like a handbrake and I was not able to lower the handbrake. I deactivated it on the cable and tried your procedure but it didn't work for me, do you have any ideas, thank you for your effort.
It could well be that the hanbreak cable has broken if you heard a loud noise to start with!!! These handbreakes on these cars are a nightmare!!! Hope you sort yours soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻
So after resetting, the errors went away? My car displays Check Parking Brake and I can not start driving because of the issue
Am not sure why you are unable to drive, when I reset it, it sorted it for me!!!
Renault are really stupid cars when something like this goes wrong!!!

Check for water intrusion under the front left seat. The R2 connector corrosion is the biggest issue in this stupid french car :)
i have renault scenic 2 petrol 2007 2.00cc parking break works manually,but not engage or release auto,how to solve the prob?
That could well be the fuse, for the handbreak, mine is a white fuse, located under the front seat, you have to take the underseat draw out to find it. Hope you get it sorted.
My parking break has had issues with the Stop and break error showing on dashboard. Got that fixed, now i cant get the automatic parking break to engage and disengage. Connected the car to a computer, changed the setting to the "hot countries" (so it auto disengage/engage), the errors are no longer there, however still wont engage and disengage. Also there is a blinking light always blinking on the parking break handle. Any idea how to get it fixed?

Do I need to simultaniously press the lock button and the start button? And when I hold the 5 seconds, do I pull the handbrake during those 5 seconds or afterwards? Thank you! English is not my main language so I am a bit confused
P.S. when I opened the drivers doors did dhe steps to only start the car, not the engine and then I pressed the lock button, it just turned everything off and locked the other doors. I don't believe the car reacted to my holding the start bitton afterwards bcs of it. Do I need to change some other settings first so that the car remains on when I press the lock button?

@@london4633 I saw a video where the guy took the entire handle off the jack, cleaned the connections, returned it inside and it started working so that one will be my next step. That one I can try alone, if that doesn't work out I guess I will need to pay a mechanic 🙄 The issue I have that is a bit different then yours is that my car doesn't give any error message, only the red light on the break switch blinks red light. Other than that it seems perfectly fine. Idk what the f is it 🤦♀️😄
@@lea88pu right now, same goes for me... Only blinks red light. Maybe a reset with a computer connected to the car will do? I dont know, tried getting the auto engagement on again but it doesnt work. This makes me think that the blinking light is the issue for this.
I've had rear breaks and pads changed on my Mégane scenic 2004, but now the handbrake doesn't work stays off, immobilizer keeps beeping and I cannot reset. Any ideas
These cars are a right pain!
My immobilizer was doing that a while back, and accidently found that disconnecting the battery for a few mins rest it.
Make sure you have your radio code as that will reset too.
@@MarcioAussie1 thank you. I have actually just called the garage and found out that they wound the cylinders back manually hence why the handbrake is stuck on. Hopefully a simple fix with the computer

Is it work for scenic 3.. After changed clutch system, not release auto brake.. Climb position..
I'm not sure of it will work, but its well worth giving it a try, hope it works for you and hope you get it sorted.
Where do i have that handle to reset i have a 2008 1.9dci
The yellow handle is usually the centre of the boot of the car under the matting and inside a small compartment with twist locks, hope that helps?
The handle is Grand Scenic. Ordinary Scenic its (just a covered pull not a handle) on the motor box which behind the right rear wheel
