We have been ardent recyclers since the parking lot pilot projects in the late 1980's/ early 1990's. In this area a lot of products can be recycled for free, and at least for lower costs than landfill garbage. HOWEVER the rules about what may be recycled, the sorting requirements, and more change every so often. It is a good thing to check for rules changes. Consistently, there are more recycling opportunities at the transfer and/ or recycling stations themselves around here and this requires checking at the facility or online every so often. Try to build as much holding capacity at home as possible to reduce trips to a station unless they are along your normal travel routes. Also check with stations in your surrounding area because some stations allow more recycling opportunities than others. NOTE: In our area, if you have to cross a weigh scale, there is no way to seperate the weight of the landfill garbage from the recycling items. They also won't let you loop around for a second weigh-in. As a result, we do not take landfill garbage in the same load as the free-to-get-rid-of recyclables.
About that "thick", burnt coffee - CAREFULLY pour it down the bathtub/ shower drain, bathroom sink drain, laundry tub drain, etc... Carefully because you dint want to create stains you'll then need to clean. Coffee does a wonderful job of cutting through some fats and oils including those caused by soaps.
Prevent coffee from cooking until burnt on the coffee maker burner by using a thermos. Pour the hot coffee into the thermos as you're pouring the first cup; turn the coffee maker off and pour additional cups from the thermos. Call it zero waste on the coffee, call it energy savings on the coffee pot, or mix the two and call it frugal living.
Thank you for the content! I always learn somethong new😊 i would love to find more ways to reduce my ways with dressings and sauces...those are my weakness😅
The zero waste and ethically sourced world's are full of products to buy which are not .... fiscally saving. Re-useable coffee filters can provide savings and a great return in investment. We switched to them in the regular, drop pot uears ago when we resorted to paper towels one too many times; how they are proportionately MUCH cheaper. We have a Kurig knock-off in the garage and when k-cups started to get expensive years ago, switched to a re-usable one out there. Ours came something like 2 or 3 in a package. Someone we know-ish has a whole slew of them which they pre-load up with thier favorite grind and simply pop into thier machine when they want a cup of coffee.
Hi Becca, I love this type of content. We should all do everything in our power to live more sustainably. Hope you have a blessed week. ⚘
Thanks Debbie! I hope you have a great week as well! 😃

I never had a Kureg, but I did use a reusable coffee filter in my coffee-drinking days. It just makes sense.
18 times?!! Do you have any idea how much film costs these days?!
