The Bennie lift is still original today despite the store being heavily refurbished. Though it doesn't get used as much now because they've installed a boring Stannah lift as the main lift to the cafe.
Just looking at the Bennie lift in Sainsburys, I wonder was it originally a fully gated lift, because the outside of the lift door frame seems to be wider on the right hand side, so i'm wondering were the automatic doors only added at a later date.
