- Barry at, www.diygolfcart..., shows you how to install a starter belt on a Yamaha G29 "The Drive" gas golf cart. This belt should always be tight and is critical for your carts performance. If your starter belt is loose, chances are your cart will not turn over. Please subscribe to our You Tube channel for other popular golf cart parts and accessories videos. Awesome video. Cart was having a hard time engaging for a couple seconds every time i pressed the gas. This fixed it perfectly

I replaced both belts on my G 16. When I try to start it the drive pulley is turning. It won’t start unless I jack the back up.
I’m trying to replace the starter generator belt (part Jw1-h1173-00). I can’t get the new one on though. I’ve loosened everything and dropped the starter as much as it will drop and it’s still too short by quite a bit. The old belt measures 36.5” but the new one I’m trying to replace it with is 35”. Is there a trick to getting this thing on, or should I get a 36” belt? Thanks for your help.
I have a Yamaha G16 that I have put 3 starter generators on in about a 14 month time frame. Each time one of the caps holding the brushes in will fly off & parts go everywhere. What would be causing this ?
You are one awesome dude
Hi,
My yamaha g29 golf cart is having issues. Starter generator pulley is turning, but starter belt not always turning. After a few seconds, the belt turns and the engine runs.
Please help.
Belt may be glazed, worn or too loose. Pay attention to the installation portion of this video. When it comes to the tensioner bolt/jam nut, tighten the bolt so that you can't deflect the slackest part of the belt more than 3/16 of an inch. One turn of the tensioner bolt solved a similar problem on my cart.
My 2010 G29 has a rough take off. It jumps forward when getting going. The smaller belt is very tight. Would loosening that up a bit help smooth out my takeoffs?
No, that will make the starter generator pulley squeal terribly as it rubs inside the belt. I'm not sure how to smooth out the take off, but loosening that belt will not help.
I changed my drive belt on my 2014 Yamaha Drive YDRA with no problem...however I could not get the new starter belt on. I took off the jamm nut and bolt and had the pulley as close to the big pulley as possible. Should I heat the belt up to 140 degrees or use dish soap? I checked part number and it is same as one I took off. I put the old one back on for now. Any suggestions? Dave
Did you loosen the 2 large 17mm bolts at the top?
Sorry for post I got the wrong belt...I tried to put on jn6-h1173-00. When cart needed a jw1-h1173-00. Your video is great. Thanks
Is there a adjustment on a drive belt
No, the drive belt has no adjustments.
my g29 makes a slight squeal when i accelerate. but cart runs and drives fine would it be this belt making the noise?
+joe hoskins Common issue. The drive belt squeals on just about every take off.
So replacing it wont fix the sound
+joe hoskins It will, for a little bit....
Will scuffing up the cluch pulley help
+joe hoskins I wouldn't scuff the clutch, maybe use belt dressing.
