  • A common question we receive at Mount-It! is “What is a VESA pattern?” Learn about the VESA mounting standard and how to find your TV’s VESA pattern - it’s easy!
VESA is a set of standards for the manufacturing of televisions and computer monitors. Most manufacturers comply with this standard by adhering to an industry wide “hole pattern” on the back of their displays for mounting purposes. Figuring out your TV’s VESA pattern is necessary for choosing the right mount for your display.

TYVM ! ! New Subscriber just by telling me how to measure and calculate VESA ! ! Now...on to finding out how to get the right VESA adapter to mount an older 673 X 317 mm VESA pattern. Actually, just need one to convert a new TV (200mm across) with the old top two holes that are 673 mm. The new TV is so much lighter so I know the old brackets will hold it - we just need to figur out how to match the holes. Is that what a VESA adapter is for?

Actually, the size is always metric. Inches are not used so it's exactly 200mm x 200mm. Or approximately 8 inches.

I've heard of people installing a mounting plate using hotmelt glue. If the monitor is not too heavy, this should work. BUT be careful. You don't want it to one day give out and fall to the ground. I once made 4 special corner brackets to hold the monitor to the wall. I wouldn't call it pretty, but it did work. Just NEVER try to drill holes into the casing. You might drill into some electronics or even right through your screen.
