7:50 regardless of the fact he opened his door, in the UK we are taught in driving and riding lessons to pass parked or stopped vehicles with enough clearance to allow for someone doing just that. As a biker of 34 years it pains me to say the rider was at fault.
@@aaker256 Yellow means you need to stop only if you can do it safely. Locking your rear tyre with ABS is not safe stoping. The car should have paid more attention but motorcyclist should have anticipated what can happen if he stops like that.

@@aaker256 I'm completely agreeing with you that the driver of the car wasn't paying attention, but someone with experience on the bike knows that the biggest problem are people around you, driving like there are no consequences to their actions. If he was on the phone texting and not paying attention in first second you are going through the intersection and in the second you are already standing still. I had my fair share of mishaps and I would never stop so suddenly and I would never go through the intersection without slowing down and making sure it's safe even with the green light on.

I don't know what country that is from, but in the US if you hard stop at a yellow when you can go and an accident occurs, technically, you are liable, because you directly caused the accident, when you could have avoided it by going and passing the light. Now if it was red way before that's a different story. But the biker completely could have prevented that entire incident. Biker or car. Either one could have avoided by going. Also, I notice that the biker was going pretty fast before slowing down, this can also be considered reckless driving. Now you do make a point about maintaining a safe distance, but in my owns they are both to blame because they both could have done something to stop it from happening.

Yeah, I think the best way to handle a situation like that is to just obey the law. If the cops are blocking lanes of traffic, you pull over. As long as you haven't done anything illegal, you're fine. Acting out and speeding through the block is a really bad idea.

I know that these videos are mostly for people to just gawk at, but because of them I have totally changed the way I drive when around motorcyclists. I give them lots of room, and make sure not to suddenly change lanes without making sure I know where they are. I'd like to think I'm not the only one, either. Same with videos involving 18-wheelers. It gives you way more understanding of what they have to deal with.

@@flyinglucky I dunno if it’s different in other countries but in the Uk you can go through an amber light. However, it’s gauging when it goes from amber to red that I find people lack on. There’s also occasions when you are too close and too fast that you just need to run the amber going into red though it’s just wiser to start slowing down for the ambers unless you can see in your mirrors someone not paying attention (granted this is difficult, even in a car using your mirrors... can’t imagine what it’s like on a bike)

@@TheLiamis the car in this video is 2007-2010 Peugeot 207 CC. That’s a 10 year old car minimum. If you think that has perfect brakes, to out brake what looks to be a relatively new bike (5 years old or newer) the car would not out brake a motorbike. Although cars do have better brakes then motorbikes. I think your forgetting the human factor in this clip. By the time that motorbike is halfway stopped, the guy driving the car is most likely only starting to brake. Everyone has different levels of reflexes. Some are better then others. Now, let’s not pass off the possibility that, yes, the driver may not of been paying attention. That is very possible. But we can’t say for sure that he was. I’m just working with the evidence that is clear.

It obviously varies on which bike and car but car prob was too close or didnt pay attention and react quick enough. @@aaker256 Yellow means you need to stop only if you can do it safely. Locking your rear tyre with ABS is not safe stoping. The car should have paid more attention but motorcyclist should have anticipated what can happen if he stops like that.

@@aaker256 I'm completely agreeing with you that the driver of the car wasn't paying attention, but someone with experience on the bike knows that the biggest problem are people around you, driving like there are no consequences to their actions. If he was on the phone texting and not paying attention in first second you are going through the intersection and in the second you are already standing still. I had my fair share of mishaps and I would never stop so suddenly and I would never go through the intersection without slowing down and making sure it's safe even with the green light on.

I don't know what country that is from, but in the US if you hard stop at a yellow when you can go and an accident occurs, technically, you are liable, because you directly caused the accident, when you could have avoided it by going and passing the light. Also, I notice that the biker was going pretty fast before slowing down, this can also be considered reckless driving. Now you do make a point about maintaining a safe distance, but in my owns they are both to blame because they both could have done something to stop it from happening.

Yeah, I think the best way to handle a situation like that is to just obey the law. If the cops are blocking lanes of traffic, you pull over. As long as you haven't done anything illegal, you're fine. Acting out and speeding through the block is a really bad idea.

I know that these videos are mostly for people to just gawk at, but because of them I have totally changed the way I drive when around motorcyclists. I give them lots of room, and make sure not to suddenly change lanes without making sure I know where they are. I'd like to think I'm not the only one, either. Same with videos involving 18-wheelers. It gives you way more understanding of what they have to deal with.

@@flyinglucky I dunno if it’s different in other countries but in the Uk you can go through an amber light. However, it’s gauging when it goes from amber to red that I find people lack on. There’s also occasions when you are too close and too fast that you just need to run the amber going into red though it’s just wiser to start slowing down for the ambers unless you can see in your mirrors someone not paying attention (granted this is difficult, even in a car using your mirrors... can’t imagine what it’s like on a bike)

@@TheLiamis the car in this video is 2007-2010 Peugeot 207 CC. That’s a 10 year old car minimum. If you think that has perfect brakes, to out brake what looks to be a relatively new bike (5 years old or newer) the car would not out brake a motorbike.
Although cars do have better brakes then motorbikes. I think your forgetting the human factor in this clip. By the time that motorbike is halfway stopped, the guy driving the car is most likely only starting to brake. Everyone has different levels of reflexes. Some are better then others.
Now, let’s not pass off the possibility that, yes, the driver may not of been paying attention. That is very possible. But we can’t say for sure that he was. I’m just working with the evidence that is clear.
