And if ever Dosan and Ji Pyeong were to have a fall out cheongmyeong company,Dalmi and grandma will surely side with Dosan because they are family. At the end of the day Ji Pyeong is still an outsider and will always be an outsider with no one at his side.
fact that Jipyeong knows Grandma can't even see him and STILL try his best to hide his emotions, that's way too wholesome & breaks my heart a little bit. his acting was just too raw. we can feel his suffer. oh my, he deserves the world & def a better ending.
Its crazy how each of his crying scenes potray different emotions. 1. Dissapointed and feeling unfair crying, when he confessed his feelings abt dalmi to halmoeni 2. Sad crying when he discovered halmeoni sickness 3. And finally all those feelings that he has been keep deep inside alone finally poured out in this crying scene because finally someone said it to him that everythings alright. That he has someone to lean on too. 😭😭😭❤❤❤ His acting is just WOW. My heart hurts each time.
Yup... Kim Seon Ho portrayed perfectly Han Jipyoeng character. I just say wow wow wow each emotional scene...enjoy so much and hurt with Jipyong at the same time
nah she took advantage of him when he was young to make her granddaughter happy. then she strung him along and wouldnt encourage him to confess causing him to suffer and waste years of his life. if you overlook this detail she was a supportive adult in his life tho

And when she asked him if he liked dalmi, he was confused and denied it. However when he told her he likes dalmi, its already too late because dalmi is already together with dosan and they’re both happy right now. If he had told her he liked dalmi then, im pretty sure she would have supported them and help them get together.

Also a common ploy in these dramas. Even he finally got the courage and wanted to express his feelings, grandma denied and he even asked 'what about me?'. Then he said he would give NDS the latest letter to continue their game. Unfortunately, SDM was 1 step ahead and caught on to them. With the secret revealed he chose to share his feelings. And 3 years go by, nothing. Within those years grandma is aware of HJPs feelings but doesn't even courage it knowing DM and DS are no longer dating? I suppose the last part is more writing than the characters. However, it's clear he was taken advantage of as a child for an ulterior motive that he practically spent half his life of which he can never get back.
The reason I watch this drama is because of Grandma and Ji Pyeong starting from the first episode. I didn't even care about Do San and Dal Mi's love story. For me, the main lead for this drama is Grandma and Ji Pyeong..
One thing I didn’t like was that the main girl didn’t express her appreciation of him being there for her in the past.. she never had a real talk about it with him.. she was too busy being upset and confused with the main guy... I wish they got closure for their relationship with the appreciation he deserved.
Unfortunately you are right... sigh this drama had such a boring and typical ending I was hoping for a twist so that it can stand out from other dramas but I guess the writer is just your average kdrama writer 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
If Netflix made season 2 of Start Up with Han Jipyeong as the lead, it would be really popular. Imagine the whole series revolving around his life and having interesting things like searching for his birth parents, learning more about his childhood, actually getting the girl and finding happiness.
You cant deny, kimseonho’s skills are off the charts. He studies his characters well to be able to pull them off perfectly. You deserve the spotlight. Your acting was 100%

I think he did get his better ending in a way. He chose the nam do San because he said he was jealous of how much love he received from his parents when he won the Olympiad. Ji pyeong was always pessimistic because the world gave him a short stick. He always felt it was unfair that he was an orphan. In the ending, he healed himself by lending a helping hand to someone in the same boat. I felt like his character grew a lot throughout the series.
I think his ending is fine, instead of going somewhere alone, becoming lonelier. At least, he can still interact with Halmeoni, and he has now a family to lean on. Although, it's heart breaking, I believe he can move on, because he is a strong and brave person. Thanks, Jipyeong.
I think his ending was his healing. He learned to open up himself to people. He learned to break walls and allow people in his life. Like investing in the orphan business plan and the company of dalmi. Sometimes ending isn't about what happens around you but IN you. 🌷

I think I can understand why this scene feels so raw and why Seonho can't keep to stop crying. He must have blended and empathized with his character so much that it feels like he's acting like himself at times. We all feel inherently lonely all the time and when someone comes and tell us we're not lonely anymore, that's when we break our soul. I empathize with this scene even more, because halmeoni is such a warm person, like my grandma is.

what was most heartbreaking for me while watching 'start up' was that jipyeong always thought of grandma's kindness to him as a "debt" and something that he wanted to pay back. growing up as an orphan and having nobody near him who truly cared for and loved him, jipyeong never knew what love was or what it even felt like. i really think this is also the reason jipyeong wasn't able to identify his feelings towards dalmi as being love as fast as dosan did since he had never really experienced or received love his entire life :( but as we see in this scene, grandma's attitude towards jipyeong was always a beautiful familial love, and now i feel like jipyeong finally knows that he is no longer alone because grandma is that somebody he can lean on when he's hurt or alone without feeling burdened
I was literally waiting forever for this scene to get posted because THIS ladies and gentleman, is why our Ji Pyeong, Good Boy, is so precious and must be protected at all costs. He started out all alone, and he ended the story all alone. Like he literally can't get any loneliner. He CAN NOT get any lonelier than this. He started gaining a friend through his letters but that friend, Dal Mi, was not able to even seee how precious of a friend she has by her side. He is the one who has always been rooting for her. He is the one who helped her guide her through her business ventures. He is the one who got dal mi and do san together in the end. He was literally holding Dal mi and Do san's hands through it all and once they "grew up," they completely abandoned him. This is not okay. I will never be okay. Good boy deserved better.

I believe Nam Dareum is going to be top quality actor in the future. He did great in this drama and also Beautiful World. Maybe he won’t have the hallyu waves pull of Lee Minho, Kim Hyun Joong, etc but he can be actor of calibre in the rank of Lee Jung Jae, Hwang Jung Min

This scene was so heartwarming in a sad way because I felt his sadness, loneliness & longing for a connection with someone. The way this scene makes me cry over and over again 🥺 Whenever Halmeoni and Han Ji Pyeong are together in a scene.. it's definitely a cryfest. And i think this is really what Han Ji Pyeong's role is, to trigger the emotions of the viewers. He may not have ended up with Dalmi but his character really touched most of us. I have never cried for a Korean actor emotional scene. But every time KSH gets emotional ,tears shreds. He s an indeed finest actor that i have ever seen ,he portraits the emotions on point.

That's literally the most screentime for a crying scene and yet all I could feel was cringe. Like he over did it. I love all njh works but this series was a wrong choice, they wanted to show us the character's insecurities but it wasn't directed well like ksh scenes. I sympathise with both male leads but I cried during every ksh's crying scenes.
dosan seem to just cry about anything in the 2nd half of the series and its awful. HJP only cried in front of halmeoni and it made most people cry every single scene of it

The best part of Start-Up’s ending 😭😭 To me it seemed what Jipyeong wanted from the start was to have a family figure to care for him, which he got despite all the emotional detours he had to take. It’s hard to process feelings of being loved and cared for when you’re not used to receiving it, and I can imagine Jipyeong slowly taking his time to head towards that direction with halmeoni if the story continues. Thank you Start-Up writers for creating such an endearing character, and also kudos to Kim Seonho for giving his all in acting as Jipyeong! Seonhohadas will be rooting for you in your next project~
The fact noone is talking about is, how beautifully the character of grandma is written. She sheltered everyone like an umbrella, be it han-ji-peyong or be it her daughter-in-law who left her son selfishly. Whoever came to grandma, never went empty-handed, such a great-hearted person grandma was. She was a fighter from the beginning of the story, she fights till the end of the story. Whatever financial and mental condition she was in, she always reached beyond her capabilities to stay beside everyone, but never wanted anything for herself in return. She was so kind, empathetic and warm. It's not so easy to be grandma in this cruel and unforgiving world. People like her is rare on this earth, but their presence makes our lives bearable. And the actor who played grandma, deserves respect from the bottom of my heart. Grandma is the string which holds the whole story of 'START-UP' together, be it writing letters to ease the pain of her lonely grand-daughter or be it feeling the pain of Han ji peyong beyond her vision limitations. GRAND-MA IS THE UNSUNG HERO OF THIS SERIES.

And when she asked him if he liked dalmi, he was confused and denied it. If he had told her he liked dalmi then, im pretty sure she would have supported them and help them get together.

Also a common ploy in these dramas. Even he finally got the courage and wanted to express his feelings, grandma denied and he even asked 'what about me?'. Then he said he would give NDS the latest letter to continue their game. Unfortunately, SDM was 1 step ahead and caught on to them. With the secret revealed he chose to share his feelings. And 3 years go by, nothing. Within those years grandma is aware of HJPs feelings but doesn't even courage it knowing DM and DS are no longer dating? I suppose the last part is more writing than the characters. However, it's clear he was taken advantage of as a child for an ulterior motive that he practically spent half his life of which he can never get back.
Ji-pyeong and halmeoni carried THE WHOLE SHOW.
*Their relationship is one of the reasons why my expectation about this drama is so high.* Their scenes were the most precious thing in this drama.

The reason I watch this drama is because of Grandma and Ji Pyeong starting from the first episode. I didn't even care about Do San and Dal Mi's love story. For me, the main lead for this drama is Grandma and Ji Pyeong..

Jipyeong deserves a better ending because all he did was suffer.
I think he did get his better ending in a way. He chose the nam do San because he said he was jealous of how much love he received from his parents when he won the Olympiad. Ji pyeong was always pessimistic because the world gave him a short stick. He always felt it was unfair that he was an orphan. In the ending, he healed himself by lending a helping hand to someone in the same boat. I felt like his character grew a lot throughout the series.

I think his ending was his healing. He learned to open up himself to people. He learned to break walls and allow people in his life. Like investing in the orphan business plan and the company of dalmi. Sometimes ending isn't about what happens around you but IN you. 🌷

I think I can understand why this scene feels so raw and why Seonho can't keep to stop crying. He must have blended and empathized with his character so much that it feels like he's acting like himself at times. We all feel inherently lonely all the time and when someone comes and tell us we're not lonely anymore, that's when we break our soul. I empathize with this scene even more, because halmeoni is such a warm person, like my grandma is.

what was most heartbreaking for me while watching 'start up' was that jipyeong always thought of grandma's kindness to him as a "debt" and something that he wanted to pay back. growing up as an orphan and having nobody near him who truly cared for and loved him, jipyeong never knew what love was or what it even felt like. i really think this is also the reason jipyeong wasn't able to identify his feelings towards dalmi as being love as fast as dosan did since he had never really experienced or received love his entire life :( but as we see in this scene, grandma's attitude towards jipyeong was always a beautiful familial love, and now i feel like jipyeong finally knows that he is no longer alone because grandma is that somebody he can lean on when he's hurt or alone without feeling burdened

I was literally waiting forever for this scene to get posted because THIS ladies and gentleman, is why our Ji Pyeong, Good Boy, is so precious and must be protected at all costs. He started out all alone, and he ended the story all alone. Like he literally can't get any loneliner. He CAN NOT get any lonelier than this. He started gaining a friend through his letters but that friend, Dal Mi, was not able to even seee how precious of a friend she has by her side. He is the one who has always been rooting for her. He is the one who helped her guide her through her business ventures. He is the one who got dal mi and do san together in the end. He was literally holding Dal mi and Do san's hands through it all and once they "grew up," they completely abandoned him. This is not okay. I will never be okay. Good boy deserved better.

I believed there are people like this, lonely and have no one to talk too. Friends never see the weak side of strong people. It's sad to watch, but Jipyeong still have grandma. His acting is so good, couldn't agree more on this feeling.
This scene was so heartwarming in a sad way because I felt his sadness, loneliness & longing for a connection with someone. I wanted him to have that happy ending, where he's sitting around the dinner table with grandma (Won-Deok) & everyone like a family.

This is the second of my two favorite favorite scenes of this beautiful drama. The other one is w him too, when he tells grandma he is in love of Dal mi. Both scenes made me cry. This one is the sadest, but I enjoyed the excelent acting of grandma and Kim Son Ho.

And i think this is really what Han Ji Pyeong's role is, to trigger the emotions of the viewers. He may not have ended up with Dalmi but his character really touched most of us. Nam do san (nam joo hyuk) had more crying scene than han ji pyeong (kim seon ho)...... but none of it cought my attention. With kim seon ho, just one drop of his tear or just a red ear and nose can make me cry a river !! 😭😭😭

@@akankshyapattanayak4158 call me crazy, they literally focus the camera on him for 2 whole minutes when he was crying near bus stop. That's literally the most screentime for a crying scene and yet all I could feel was cringe. Like he over did it.
I love all njh works but this series was a wrong choice, they wanted to show us the character's insecurities but it wasn't directed well like ksh scenes. I sympathise with both male leads but I cried during every ksh's crying scenes.
dosan seem to just cry about anything in the 2nd half of the series and its awful. HJP only cried in front of halmeoni and it made most people cry every single scene of it
Han Ji-Pyeong and Halmeoni is my greatest joy and heartbreak in this drama. Kim Seon-Ho micro-facial expression when he acts is on another level.
grandma and jipyeong's relationship for me really is the strongest point for this drama. its so sincere and raw, my heart ache for him.

i cried a lot over this scene ..i feel he deserves dalmi more than nam do san.. he was orpham through many difficulties he reached top.. s he was littile harsh intially that doesnt make him bad.. he stood for her,helped her, good to all his family members.. o god please bless him.. i want him to be happy

The best part of Start-Up’s ending 😭😭 To me it seemed what Jipyeong wanted from the start was to have a family figure to care for him, which he got despite all the emotional detours he had to take. It’s hard to process feelings of being loved and cared for when you’re not used to receiving it, and I can imagine Jipyeong slowly taking his time to head towards that direction with halmeoni if the story continues.
Thank you Start-Up writers for creating such an endearing character, and also kudos to Kim Seonho for giving his all in acting as Jipyeong! Seonhohadas will be rooting for you in your next project~

The fact noone is talking about is, how beautifully the character of grandma is written. She sheltered everyone like an umbrella, be it han-ji-peyong or be it her daughter-in-law who left her son selfishly. Whoever came to grandma, never went empty-handed, such a great-hearted person grandma was. She was a fighter from the beginning of the story, she fights till the end of the story. Whatever financial and mental condition she was in, she always reached beyond her capabilities to stay beside everyone, but never wanted anything for herself in return. She was so kind, empathetic and warm. It's not so easy to be grandma in this cruel and unforgiving world. People like her is rare on this earth, but their presence makes our lives bearable. And the actor who played grandma, deserves respect from the bottom of my heart. Grandma is the string which holds the whole story of 'START-UP' together, be it writing letters to ease the pain of her lonely grand-daughter or be it feeling the pain of Han ji peyong beyond her vision limitations. GRAND-MA IS THE UNSUNG HERO OF THIS SERIES.
