    Agree to everything you say in this video. I have owned this lens since the day it was released, and I am very happy with it.

      I got mine about three months after i asked for it! I've got the 28, 55 and 90 now and just need to get through my next tax bill...

    Yup, fantastic little lens. The perfect wide for anyone who isn't shooting wide all day every day. Completely agree.
    Great video. One thing: Face detect AF is not a lens feature. But that's the only negative. Well done.

      Yep - i might have been wrong about this one.

    Thanks for the review. I own the 55V. For wide, I am divided between the 25V and 28P. Love the 28P for its compactness and price. However, it is f2.5 and wider FOV which is making me look at 25V. I shoot portraits and want to get the wide lens for those creative, fun angles. Just hoping Hasselblad surprises us with a wide zoom in the 20-35 range ;)

      I settled on the 28p but I'm not much for the wide angle stuff in general. I really don't want to buy a wide wide wide lens too. I've got bills to pay

      I have the 25mm and the image quality is fantastic. What really sold me was the ability to take a picture in a dark church with no flash at ISO 6400 and shutter speed of 3 seconds handheld. The picture was stunning. Be warned its really wide (20mm in 35 terms). Go for the 25mm is you have the cash as its optically better than the 28p

    Nice thanks, i agree with the 28p insights, however, the 21mm xcd also boasts the face detection since it aint lenses dependent

      Perhaps I was wrong about this - I’m sure it didn’t activate when I tested it out.

    I have both the 28p and the 55v. Love them both. Do you ever put filters on these lenses? I normally do with my full-frame lenses but I'm concerned a 100M sensor will make any image degradation highly noticeable. Thoughts on this?

    • @PhilTragen
      @PhilTragen  3 месяца назад

      I think people put UV filters on their lenses to protect them, knowing it’ll have some small impact on the IQ. It’s probably worth the trade-off some of time, perhaps while travelling, but then removing for more controlled environments.

    I’m personally torn between the 28p and the 25v. The focal length difference isn’t enough for me to really care there but I do like the look of the 25v a bit more, tho the 28p is also nice and compact. I’d use them for landscape, street, still life and some product when I need a bit wider than the 55v that I already have. Thoughts?

      I've got the 90v finally and it's bigger than both the 55v and the 28p - I'm pretty sure the 25v is a bigger lens too, so slightly more to carry around and a bit more eye catching. One interesting thing about both the 90v and the 25v is that they have a significantly louder shutter click than the 55 or the 28.
      As to the 25 vs the 28 - i just can't see a use for a 17mm equivalent focal length in my usual work unless I regularly do interiors, so I think it would be a bit wide for those use cases of yours too...
      Also why not save yourself £2000?

      The 90 is also on my list! I just wish they had something a bit more telephoto than 90, as it comes out to about 71mm which isnt quite as telephoto as I normally like when shooting portraits but its not bad either. if they had something that came closer to 85 I would all for it haha.
      Yeah I think the 28 is my best bet for what I would use it for, the 2.5 vs 4 aperture really doesn't matter to me either as I never shoot wide open at focal lengths like that, hell I rarely shoot more open than 5.6 when less than 25mm on full frame. And yes! its much cheaper too xD

      @@golden4523 The 71mm equivalent FL turns out to be sort of a sweet spot compared to a traditional 85mm. I've owned the lens for a few weeks and I have used it as a walk around, which is not easy for me at 85mm. Either way, the 90v is the best lens I've ever used - just incredible sharpness, color and contrast.

      The 25mm is better optically than the 28p and much better in low light which is more important than you first think. The IQ of the 25mm is stunning, go for that if you have the cash.

    Superior optical performance on the “V” line? Don’t you think that there are way too many reports in fora online from owners to state the opposite by now?

    • @PhilTragen
      @PhilTragen  3 месяца назад +1

      Im not in all the fora so I can’t say, but I simply meant that the V and P series are designed to stack up in this way. And that a max aperture of 2.5 is preferable to f4.

    • @franciscoscaramanga2342
      @franciscoscaramanga2342 3 месяца назад +1

      @@PhilTragen There is no debate that the "V" lineup excels in size and weight to the previous lines. Which is their purpose and therefore optical quality needed to take a back seat (no way to cheat physics...). No need to google much since optically it is clear that they are very much behind if you look at the MTF charts. Stating that the "V" lenses (particularly the 38 and 55) have better optical performance is not accurate. In that range, the 30, 45P and 65 are undoubtedly better optically corner to corner and wide open than the V line.

      Ah - yes I have read along those lines. I’m new to Hasselblad in general so I’m just comparing new with new!

      @@franciscoscaramanga2342I had the 30mm and 65mm - both amazing lenses. However, just speaking from my own personal experience and standpoint, I don’t miss them - I’ve never looked at a shot taken with my 28P and thought it would have looked better taken on the 30mm, especially stopped down a bit. Maybe if I did a side by side comparison and zoomed in I would see differences, but in practical terms I am thrilled with the size, weight, speed, quiet shutter and performance of the 28P (I also have the 55v and don’t miss the 65mm for the same reasons). It’s interesting that the 45P is supposed to be great optically speaking even though it’s relatively cheap and small and therefore you would think would have compared unfavorably to the old 45mm or the 55v. The new 90v is spectacular - I’m not sure it is worse optically speaking than the older 90mm. I sold my super heavy and big (but amazing) 80mm 1.9 to get the 90v and also have no regrets. We are spoiled for choice - can’t really go wrong with any of them.

      @@franciscoscaramanga2342 In real world use, the 38v is very good lens. I think it does leave a little on the table and doesn't fully exploit what the X2D is able to produce. The 90v, on the other hand, is the best portrait length lens in the world. Better than anything I've owned from Nikon, Canon or Leica. Comparing a 90v to a 38v, the optical difference is pretty stark. That said, the MF clutch, for me, is a game changer and is the one reason I'm keeping it in favor of some of the older lenses. The 38v is still optically very good and the size, weight and MF clutch are all big advantages in its favor.

    Face detection is done on the camera not the lens
