Honestly, this style fits the show better in my opinion. Its more mystical and unique, much like gemkind, and it would have showed that better. Theres also a lot more detail, like Blue Diamonds hood(?) Aquamarines dress. I also like White Diamonds pilot version WAY more than the canon version. It feels so much more regal and authoritative. I like the canon style, but this truly takes the cake!
Pilot BD/BP are so beautiful! YD looks a lot more like an anime character, as does YP, White is really giving me some Yzma vibes, and Pink just looks like a anime school girl lol Also Peridot is somehow even cuter, and I am LIVING for Lapis with that white/pale blue hair

It's amazing how different the style is. The new one is bubbly and round, whereas the pilot one is sketchy and has a lot of texture.
