We've been building and using shooting shacks on old running gear for about 20 years. We've never elevated one like that though. Mainly because we've never needed one that high.
I'm thinking of building my next one on a running gear. Not considering any specific stand location, what do you feel is a good overall height from the running gear frame to floor of the blind? Did you bolt all 4 corners to the running gear or just loop opposites with a chain like they used to do for gravity boxes?
@@UncleBucks I've never actually measured the distance between the frame and the floor. I can tell you that it takes 3 steps plus the step up into the shack to get in them. Our shacks are bolted down to the frame too. I hope this helps you.
I’ve considered something similar, but thinking more along the lines of a landscaping trailer. Depending on your hunting area/site I’m not sure they need to be so high. Like open fields etc. it would make moving it a lot easier a well. Not sure if you ever towed something like this that’s so high,but once you do you would understand. It’s not easy in any way 😋😋 Pa season just ended as well. Thanks for sharing
Hey Lou, I agree. It all depends upon each persons situation. While I prefer more height for seeing further away, I would maybe build one a little shorter for the reasons you mentioned. Hope your hunting season was a success!
That’s a sweet blind! I’m sure your thinking you will build your blind out of wood like your others which will be more economical and less noisy and better insulated

I think the Gameslayer isn't too bad for the price but yeah, you're right, I'll likely build mine myself.
