What I dislike about the idea of a battle pass/daily login reward is that it just feels like a cheap, easy way to keep players engaged in your game because there's nothing else in the game that makes players return. Now that's just me, but when there's a daily reward system in a game, I usually log on just to keep my daily streak going, then log off because there's not much else that really interests me in the game. Daily challenges and rewards feel more like an obligation to me than something I truly want to do because I like the game. It's the same with Red Dead Online unfortunately; log on, do a daily to keep my streak going, then log off because I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over in the game
Absolutely agree, a daily log in at least does usually give decent rewards down the line but this has nothing of true value based on the effort put in to gain them.
I unironically forgot that the Rainbow Festival was ongoing lmao. There's nothing to do there except shopping?? I mean, I went to Fort Pinta to check out the new horses but otherwise, I was up north doing archaeology. The whiplash it gave me when I came from the snowy mountains to the sunny beach was insane lol. I don't do championships either but I'm a completionist so I might start competing due to the new instalments? Maybe??? Idk, we'll see how it goes. I've encountered some cheating in the wild and it sucked so I hope SSO does something to prevent it (other than relying on players...) The daily log-in sounded pretty good... until the battle-pass mixture. Like "Hey, log in and get a few Shillings! After a week you'll get Star Coins!" sounded great but a battle pass?? What the hell can they give me that is exclusive? Clothes?? Don't want them. Star Coins?? Sure, but paying a, most likely, subscription for it? Nah, man. At most, I just hope they don't do the same as a mobile game I played from time to time where they had battle passes but then introduced the concept where if you don't win enough games, you'll lose your rank and therefore *lose the ability to use certain objects you had achieved beforehand*. I doubt SSO would be able to do such a thing due to the nature of their game but it is a "worst-case scenario" in my opinion. IDK, maybe they'll give us a horse breed only top-tier battle pass users or whatever it's called can ride so when you stop buying battle passes, you'll lose the ability to ride the horse. A far stretch, I'm aware, but that game made me paranoid
Yeah SSO doesn't have much in the use of a battle pass, some of the rewards are food like the stable care ticket and shillings thing but most are easy to obtain through the Valedale crafting and stuff. If they add more mechanics they could add better rewards, bummed it seems we aren't getting any shillings.
I wonder if it’s because they know that’s what people want so they make sure the only way to get them is to play the game. The more you play the game, the more likely you are to buy Star Coins
13:55 hi, I’ve been playing sso since 2018 and genshin since release. the bp there is 10€ but there’s ANOTHER version of it which gets you namecards and furnishings which is 20€ I believe!!
I'm okay with the concept of a battle pass, I just can't think of a single thing beyond SC that I could get as a reward that I would actually want. Shillings have an insane cap, and my inventory is not full, but not really into most clothes they put out, the latest set they did that I liked was the london fog set. Speaking of other games, I've been playing black desert as my horse game lol and also cause it's just a fun mmo. And your horse can fight alongside you!!
I got black desert like a year ago but haven't played yet! I forgot I had it. XD it looks fun imma download it and try finally. Yeah the clothes and tack tend to be recolors and sometimes bland.
while i don't mind the rainbow festival leaving (wasn't fond of it and feel like it was very much stuck in the jojo siwa type era they made it in), i really want clearer communication about these things because the sso community is already bad with misinformation as is. there was that post from 2-3 years ago? where they claimed to be bridging gaps between company and players so there'd be some transparency, but its clear that only applied to horse feedback and horse feedback alone. as for championships as someone who has done them a ton throughout 2022-2024, i've been on the biggest na server almost the entire time (nightstar, where the chat ragebaiters from last month started popping up so clearly this server has other issues besides cheating lol) and i could count the number of actual speed cheaters ive seen on one hand. i've also been on hazy and don't think i personally saw a cheater even once, its totally possible i could be narrowly missing them whenever i play or they all stay on dead servers. i don't doubt this will make players more competitive, and its completely possible this could drive more players to use speed cheats depending on the worth of ribbons//whats required for you to get one, all i'm saying is that i'm not fully expecting a huge boom in speed cheating for how little i've actually seen it happen. starcoins on the battle pass would be good imo, it just seems a little too good//unrealistic for sse's standards to me, obviously it wouldn't be on the first pass but even if they're successful i'm not sure they'd do it in the future, although im trying to have a little hope. the stable care will also be super helpful since i do championships a lot as mentioned, id like to ride all my horses instead of the 3 champ horses i take daily care of to save starcoins.
On the cloud kingdom note- I just wish if they weren’t going to add it back in this year they should’ve waited a week to release it instead of taking away camp western and cutting it from 4 weeks down to 3. I also don’t like that we had 2 bazaars in about 1 month, just not a lot to play with lol. I do think new quests are coming wednesday though. (Also sorry if you mentioned this in the video I haven’t finished it 😂)
Dailies are _fine_ I guess but as a grown adult who has stuff to do because of Responsibilities -cough cough and the crushing obligations under capitalism cough cough- it leaves such a vile taste in my mouth. When FoMO strikes, it hits me hard. Granted I've been a little bit more lax for SSO because I only get clothes, tack, and even horses if I can afford them at the given time and *IF* I even want them instead of wasting real-life time and money, but that still doesn't mean that it's not hard occasionally as a completionist-driven person. It's kind of sad because I really do love this game and I only want to see it flourish but that seems to be failing. :(
Personally, I think they are testing the waters to make a 2-tier battle pass too and they generally run from $6.99-$16.99. It is a good idea but unfortunately, they do not have content to support it. So hopefully they leave it at 1. As for the competition, it is rare for me participate in them. The addition of the competition battle pass is really not for me. Personally, they should address the cheating and chat issues before the addition of the competition battle pass.
@@True-xq1fz Agreed. At this point they might as well toss in a $5 star coin daily thing like Gacha games have that give like 40sc upon login least then they get some money from players for low effort on staff.
I do think the battle pass combined with the hollow wood paths have the potential to be a good first step towards adding more long-term activities to keep players engaged, if done right. The thing is I'm worried as to if they'll be able to do just that. The battle pass seems like it's the same setup as the winter crystal gimmick from the last winter event and that was. So. Grindy. Between that, the cauldron pets in Halloween, the leprechaun tack from last Rainbow Festival, and the chicken pets in camp western I kinda don't trust them to make it feel fun and balanced instead of overwhelming. After pretty much all of these I've have to take a hiatus because of the fatigue. Having them every once in awhile for events is one thing, but making them a daily? I want to give it a chance but IDK As for the champ ribbons, besides cheaters, as someone who used to be pretty involved in champs I'm also worried about "hoarders," as I call them; basically players who win all the champs and don't give anyone else a chance. Sometimes they'll be whole clubs of these players who basically monopolize all the ribbons between themselves. If you'll get more points based on if you win, then it'll just encourage this behavior more. It would have been better to just make it for regular races and then give points based off of if you get gold, silver, or bronze score or something.
Also idk if I'm imagining but I feel like I do remember them mentioning that they were updating the cloud kingdom last year? Idk if I just made it up but I feel like that was a thing, I even remember going to say goodbye the last day Not trying to excuse SSE because I do agree that they have bad communication but I'm just so confused if I'm making it up or not since no one else seems to remember 😭

I didn't know clubs did that! Another issue on to the pile then if this does end up being based on wins, which I do see it either being wins, or how often you do champs, cause Skill can't be cataloged in SSO for champs outside of scores. I agree on the events and grind, games across the board are putting in grind more than actual fun gameplay cause it is easier then being creative and coming up with something for your players to do and have fun with which is a shame to see.
i have a horse thats mane was cheated in, but i know lots of speed cheaters that are reported all the time but have never been banned! its crazy, my horse its very hard to tell that its mane had been cheated in since its such a slight difference and the horse is no longer available. i feel like cheating if you are interrupting others gameplay is way more of a bannable offense than a silly little mane change. the moderation in sso SUCKS hopefully we get somewhere with the ingame report system. :p i just wanted my own unique horse, i dont want to make other players gameplay deteriorate because of my cheats. speed cheating is such a shit thing to do idk theyre banning lvl 27 but not people like this. expect to see a lot more whenever the battlepass comes out.
