as the resident &team stan i am very happy K didn’t make it in lmao. i remember the outrage when he didn’t get in at the time but i honestly think having K as the oldest leader of a separate group (especially with nico and taki) was the right call for everyone. especially given the evil edit i don’t think he would have thrived in enhypen. in terms of the trauma of the show i can totally see why enhypen despise the show LMAO

Still don't understand how Ni-ki got a villain arc when he told Taki what he would do, and EJ didn't get the same vitriol with Daniel. Also, it was mind-boggling how people treated the younger members differently. Ni-ki and Daniel were younger than Taki, and they treated them differently.
I'm not gonna lie, I watched I-Land after it fully aired (I was starting to stan EN and wanted to know about their roots), and it took me off guard how much I disliked Ni-Ki at first. I could obviously tell the editing was influencing my view of him, but gosh were they successful. I think the moment I really, TRULY realized how awful the editing and forced perception of him was, was when I saw someone online mentioning that the hate train made everyone forget that Ni-Ki was a maknae. That really hit me hard. The idea that "he's so talented and determined and is focused on his goal (even at the expense of friendships and relationships), that people forget at the end of the day that he's a maknae". And like... a REALLY YOUNG 13 year old maknae at that. Truly broke my heart. We are forced to perceive Ni-Ki like he's a mini adult, but in reality he's a young, desperate kid in a foreign country.

Justice for Sunoo!!!!! I love all the Sunoo praise in this episode!!! At their recent Chicago concert, the amount of screaming for Sunoo was DEAFENING. And you better believe I was one of them! And I couldn't be prouder of him for that!!!!

Heyyy girls! It’s me again back with more lore! Yeah this is the first of a couple not great episodes for Hanbin. I think Niki overestimated Hanbin’s ability to memorize choreo because he was a teenager who wanted to dance with his friends. Niki actually relied a lot on Nicholas and Hanbin(our jopping trio :( ) for comfort throughout the show. So I felt really bad for him once they were eliminated, I think he really missed them. But yeah I don’t blame anyone in this situation. It’s just really annoying that the show ONLY showcases Hanbin’s bad side, you’ll see that later too(it’s very underhanded and sketchy). We also have to remember that although Hanbin can memorize idol choreography fairly quickly, he was not formally trained in dance, especially not HIPHOP. He is not a hiphop girly, so he was very much out of his wheelhouse. But he’s actually become really good at hiphop since he debuted, he can slay pretty much everything now.
Also quick Daniel side note. He pretty much disappeared after iland and has not shown up since. The poor Daniel stans have been starving. The only big Daniel moment I remember since the show was when a fan took a picture of (allegedly) Daniel at the grocery store and posted it online. Eggie twitter was so excited, but it’s funny because you can only see the dude in picture from the back so no one knows if it was actually him or not. People were mostly going off his height(he’s a tall ass dude even at 14) and posture as well as the poster’s testimony. He was also speculated to be seen with the Pledis trainees because there was a super tall dude with them at a seventeen concert.
Anyway back to Hanbin trivia! So last week I left off when Hanbin left Belift. No one really knows if Hanbin was invited to audition by Yuehua’s casting team or if he went to audition himself after realizing that his prospects at Belift weren’t looking good. But either way the Yuehua casting team must’ve liked him a lot(since he’s fabulous obviously) because they put him in the debut group right away. Literally RIGHT AWAY, all debut members of Tempest were already set at the time when Hanbin auditioned, they were originally going to be a six member group. Hanbin actually watched the other six Tempest members prepare for their pre debut showcase, which ended up convincing him to choose Yuehua because he liked the vibe of the boys. So then he was added to the lineup in the summer of 2021 and the group had to reconfigure but he ended up blending into the group quite naturally. The other members seemed to fall in love with his personality very quickly. The members often say that they felt like the group was missing something until Hanbin came and the group became complete. His fellow member Hyeongseop(egg boy from Produce 101 S2) calls Hanbin his lucky charm because he met him in June, which he was told was going to be his lucky month. So then there was picture of Hanbin with the other Tempest members walking down the street posted online before their debut was announced. And the Hanbin fans cried tears of happiness because he went silent online after joining Yuehua so no one knew what was happening with him. Then he was officially revealed as a member of Tempest at the beginning of 2022, they then debuted in March later that year. And the rest is history!

Also, another thing to note was that Big Hit actually built I-land, like bought a piece of land and constructed the whole damn thing. Lol okay but same with Gyuvin. He was very middle of the road for me the entire show UNTIL his debut speech where I bawled like a baby and immediately biased him so freaking fast in the variety content haha.

Yeah, some of the toxicity part of en- fandom came from those who watched the show, got sucked by the system, believed everything mnet's editing and never let go (in a sense that they still perceive the guys and their relationships the same way like the guys are still in the show)

So I was perusing youtube and looked up your channel just to see when a new recap ep would be up and you'd JUST posted this LITERAL seconds before. AS A KID OF A RETIRED TEACHER! SUPPORT TEACHERS! THEY WORK SO HARD AND ARE UNDERPAID AND UNDERAPPRECIATED FOR ALL THE CRAP THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH EVERY DAY! thank you. Thanks for coming on the show Nate! It is very interesting to listen to someone who has knowledge and perspective of what was going on during the show! I STAN And also they part where K saved Jungwon and Taki got out was peak reality television. I thought that it would happen cause god loves Reality TV and that would be such tragic irony that it is a little funny. I did feel bad cause K was so crushed but you just got to laugh at how good a television moment that was. I love watching how each episode little by little they improve in different aspects of not just them as a performer, but also in personality wise. They learn more about Teamwork (KINDA) and it's always interesting to see the differences and similarities between the I-landers and the grounders.
All my favorites in iland debuted: Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jay, and Jake, and even though during iland I pretty much didn’t have interest in other contestants, I knew Heeseung, Jungwon, and Ni-ki were a virtual lock to pass. So when I-land was going on this was the little group I thought would debut. While i-land was fun in a sense, I was stressed watching and I can’t even imagine what they went through, i can’t imagine how traumatizing it was for them.
I enjoyed hearing fellow Eggie, Nate's input about Iland. I still have trauma from the amount of backstabbing Sunoo got in Iland from the trainees & voting Eggies.

I ended up watching this recap twice! Once last night when you posted (who needs sleep???), and again this evening after work while running errands. I love that you had a guest. Nate was fantastic! I didn't watch I-Land as it was airing, so a lot of the things he's mentioning were things I either heard about 2nd hand, or I'm hearing for the first time. I'm so stoked that you enjoyed the twist of K accidentally knocked Taki to ground. The drama is sooooo good. *chef's kiss*. Also, Adam at 27:32... I laughed so hard because SAME. This is the feeling this show invokes in me! I'm really enjoying these long recaps. Honestly, I could listen to the two of you talk for however long you want about each episode. It's so entertaining!
my last and final comment, the k drama is absolutely why he didnt get into enhypen. 100%. he was SECURED. (obviously nobody is secured until the very last moment but i feel the need to stress his popularity and status at the time) he was absolutely debuting in enhypen if future events didnt happen. but its truly fine now. not to sound insane but as a lune we are extremely happy with him not making it, &TEAM was truly NEEDED.
The reason why K doesn't make it in is because of production. Its on purpose, because BigHit/HYBE at this time already had plans to start a JP label and group and they already had him planned in it. This show was only to build his popularity. There is nothing in this show that was not almost completely rigged.

Absolutely. He was a front runner even in votes, despite the editing, right up until the his controversy happened(which wasn’t even true!) and it happened at the most inconvenient time. I swear it was a set up by some fans who didn’t want him in the group

For lil bit spoiler, sometimes we forget that Ni-Ki was just 15 yo boy when he supposed to lead all of his hyungs on the I-Land or on the Ground...sometimes we forget that the leader dancer just a child, when the other minor trainee just follow other hyungs, just like Taki, Daniel, even Jungwon...but Ni-Ki must lead the entire hyungs on that show for dance:") i just realized that he was really amazing kid on eps 5/6 and i was sad for him being the villain bcs of mnet for the pas 5 eps:" But now Ni-Ki is my ultimate bias on ENHYPEN, he is just a nice kid even he really protective to sunoo's health since i-land❤😢
@TheAmpliverse just found y'all a couple days ago and so happy for it. First, love my boys from Enhypen, especially after seeing them live still coming off of that high. Going back and watching all the enclocks and decided to binge watch iland. Have no one to discuss with so hearing you have same reactions i was is so good. Watching this episode even better to hear from the history experts. Can't wait for you to see next episode. Btw i cried when I seen my baby Jay get rejected last episode and then get sent to ground. Still hurts
K was robbed. The evil editing was amped to 11! He did not deserve and ounce of the hate he got from everyone. I also think Hybe had it set from day 1 that K wouldn't be in the group. They had plans for EJ, K, Taki, and Nicho. Thats the only explanation as to why the 4 of them never got storylines or much screen time. They knew who they wanted in the group but survival shows are great PR!
I won’t lie. It took me a long time to warm up to Heeseung after the show, but again it was all due to Mnet’s awful editing and narratives. I will never stop apologizing to the trainees of I-LAND. 🙈🙏

This has been my favorite episode! It was so much fun and just enjoyable to just relive all of the eggie memories but also to be able to reflect and compare it to how we feel now. Nate was amazing (I’m a HYBE group enthusiast myself with Boynextdoor being my current obsession) and I think it was so great that Nate was able to give you both so much context for everything, just spot on. I would love for Nate to return again, maybe even every week 😂 when you talked about Daniel, I straight up cried. I’ve been waiting for his debut as well and I really hope he’s doing well and will debut soon. The “rumor” of him debuting in Pledis’ new boy group is the only thing keeping me still believing. I feel the exact same way about Ni-Ki and K. I wasn’t so team Ni-Ki in the beginning but the second half, I was all in. K’s arc tho, crazy in the second half.

completely agree. when we say the K situation was "bad" we really mean how it was received and how everything spiraled from there. "the K situation" in show is truly nothing worse than what we have already seen so far, just another drama filled storyline like all the heeseung and ni-ki moments but it blew up.

While watching I-Land i personally thought that if you were in i-land you were the ones actually considered for debut and if you were in ground by the end of it you were cut, which is what i think the draw of getting out of ground was. Ofc knowing what we know now, that wasnt the case. Definitely hard agree that the K drama is what cost him his spot in Enha but also i think it still worked out in the end, &team was basically created for K to debut and their group dynamic is so good

Looking back now, I kind of wish Ni-ki did not make the cut and was put in &Team instead. He was THE teacher on ground. The later episodes proved it when no body wanted to be a leader after so much disappointment. At the end, my faves were actually K and Ni-ki because of the evil edit. They actually had a really compelling storyline arc in ILand.
Enhypen's fandom just seem like a bunch of solo stans to me and that will unfortunate be the groups downfall. It's a shame since their concept is so cool and unique
Hmm, I actually think the solo stanning has kind of cooled down a bit after time especially within this year. I feel like the boys always try to stress enhypen as a team and after all the drama of 2022 the fandom seems more unified. At least that’s been my experience !

I-Land remains as the most negative in tone, toxic on both the internal and external levels, and just generally most obviously rigged elimination show in kpop. I love that you guys are saying "Oh the dynamics and the group and the votes" when literally none of that matters. It was all down to production, what they cut out, what they highlight, what they vote for both in the first half and second half, the plan from start to finish is an illusion to make watchers and voters think they have any ability to choose the outcome of this show. Enhypen was never going to have other members, and when you watch it back its so obvious. Kei was always going to be in &TEAM, Taki the same. During the show airing, as it went on, we started getting wise to it, it seems like you all are happy to live in the grim fantasy of a crafted story that has nothing to do with the reality.

And also they part where K saved Jungwon and Taki got out was peak reality television. I thought that it would happen cause god loves Reality TV and that would be such tragic irony that it is a little funny. I did feel bad cause K was so crushed but you just got to laugh at how good a television moment that was. I love watching how each episode little by little they improve in different aspects of not just them as a performer, but also in personality wise. They learn more about Teamwork (KINDA) and it's always interesting to see the differences and similarities between the I-landers and the grounders.
All my favorites in iland debuted: Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jay, and Jake, and even though during iland I pretty much didn’t have interest in other contestants, I knew Heeseung, Jungwon, and Ni-ki were a virtual lock to pass. So when I-land was going on this was the little group I thought would debut.
While i-land was fun in a sense, I was stressed watching and I can’t even imagine what they went through, i can’t imagine how traumatizing it was for them.
i relate so much to nate, the emotions and memories this brings back is crazy. watching i-land real-time was a wild rollercoaster

I ended up watching this recap twice! Once last night when you posted (who needs sleep???), and again this evening after work while running errands. I love that you had a guest. Nate was fantastic! I didn't watch I-Land as it was airing, so a lot of the things he's mentioning were things I either heard about 2nd hand, or I'm hearing for the first time.
I'm so stoked that you enjoyed the twist of K accidentally knocked Taki to ground. The drama is sooooo good. *chef's kiss*. Also, Adam at 27:32... I laughed so hard because SAME. This is the feeling this show invokes in me!
I'm really enjoying these long recaps. Honestly, I could listen to the two of you talk for however long you want about each episode. It's so entertaining!

Honestly, at the time, my faves were Jay, Jake, Daniel, Hanbin, Taki and Jungwon.
My top 3 were Sunoo, Jay and Hanbin from beginning to end.

my last and final comment, the k drama is absolutely why he didnt get into enhypen. 100%. he was SECURED. (obviously nobody is secured until the very last moment but i feel the need to stress his popularity and status at the time) he was absolutely debuting in enhypen if future events didnt happen. but its truly fine now. not to sound insane but as a lune we are extremely happy with him not making it, &TEAM was truly NEEDED.
The reason why K doesn't make it in is because of production. Its on purpose, because BigHit/HYBE at this time already had plans to start a JP label and group and they already had him planned in it. This show was only to build his popularity. There is nothing in this show that was not almost completely rigged.
@@yukitochan21 i can agree with this sentiment. while i think this show isn’t as rigged as they get, they need to make a narrative to get the lineup they want no matter what. and i do believe the plan was to always debut K in a japanese group, whether that was decided while the show was airing or way before.
Absolutely. He was a front runner even in votes, despite the editing, right up until the his controversy happened(which wasn’t even true!) and it happened at the most inconvenient time. I swear it was a set up by some fans who didn’t want him in the group

I'm even hate ni-ki because in the beginning i really love heeseung and mnet make a drama for them as a center for signal song, but after eps 5/6 i'm lil bit forget...Ni-Ki arc really turn the table for me....even for many of engenes rn, cause before... so many eggie who didn't like Ni-Ki attitude too...just like me, nate, and so many eggie...
For lil bit spoiler, sometimes we forget that Ni-Ki was just 15 yo boy when he supposed to lead all of his hyungs on the I-Land or on the Ground...sometimes we forget that the leader dancer just a child, when the other minor trainee just follow other hyungs, just like Taki, Daniel, even Jungwon...but Ni-Ki must lead the entire hyungs on that show for dance:") i just realized that he was really amazing kid on eps 5/6 and i was sad for him being the villain bcs of mnet for the pas 5 eps:"
But now Ni-Ki is my ultimate bias on ENHYPEN, he is just a nice kid even he really protective to sunoo's health since i-land❤😢
@TheAmpliverse just found y'all a couple days ago and so happy for it. First, love my boys from Enhypen, especially after seeing them live still coming off of that high. Going back and watching all the enclocks and decided to binge watch iland. Have no one to discuss with so hearing you have same reactions i was is so good. Watching this episode even better to hear from the history experts. Can't wait for you to see next episode. Btw i cried when I seen my baby Jay get rejected last episode and then get sent to ground. Still hurts

K was robbed. The evil editing was amped to 11! He did not deserve and ounce of the hate he got from everyone.
I also think Hybe had it set from day 1 that K wouldn't be in the group. They had plans for EJ, K, Taki, and Nicho. Thats the only explanation as to why the 4 of them never got storylines or much screen time. They knew who they wanted in the group but survival shows are great PR!

I won’t lie. It took me a long time to warm up to Heeseung after the show, but again it was all due to Mnet’s awful editing and narratives. I will never stop apologizing to the trainees of I-LAND. 🙈🙏
@@nathanchrist324I can get Ni-ki kind of, but why Heeseung? Besides maybe the second mission, he always helped everyone? And in the end, he still played a big part in getting everyone together in the second mission.

This has been my favorite episode! It was so much fun and just enjoyable to just relive all of the eggie memories but also to be able to reflect and compare it to how we feel now. Nate was amazing (I’m a HYBE group enthusiast myself with Boynextdoor being my current obsession) and I think it was so great that Nate was able to give you both so much context for everything, just spot on. I would love for Nate to return again, maybe even every week 😂 when you talked about Daniel, I straight up cried. I’ve been waiting for his debut as well and I really hope he’s doing well and will debut soon. The “rumor” of him debuting in Pledis’ new boy group is the only thing keeping me still believing. I feel the exact same way about Ni-Ki and K. I wasn’t so team Ni-Ki in the beginning but the second half, I was all in. K’s arc tho, crazy in the second half.

i think a big reason as to why everyone said the K drama was so bad it's because we were going through that while twitter was going crazy. idk maybe when you watch it you could be like "oh that's not that big of a deal" but there are many fans who lacked brain cells being like oh he is a villain and still thinks that to this day. and also nate didn't vote for K because of that HOW DARE YOU /j lmaoo i am a K stan through and through XD. i'm saying the situation is terrible not just solely on K, but because of the way it was edited, and the reaction of the fans, it was crazy.
highly agreed with nate that most of the toxicity stemmed from this survival show, ever since their debut, airpot mobs were already huge for enhypen. solo stan was huge
completely agree. when we say the K situation was "bad" we really mean how it was received and how everything spiraled from there. "the K situation" in show is truly nothing worse than what we have already seen so far, just another drama filled storyline like all the heeseung and ni-ki moments but it blew up.

I was at Anaheim!!! And Engene says that Ni-Ki might be our maknae, but Sunoo is Engene's babee! Since we almost didn't have him in Enha, he will always be our princess lol!
While watching I-Land i personally thought that if you were in i-land you were the ones actually considered for debut and if you were in ground by the end of it you were cut, which is what i think the draw of getting out of ground was. Ofc knowing what we know now, that wasnt the case.
Definitely hard agree that the K drama is what cost him his spot in Enha but also i think it still worked out in the end, &team was basically created for K to debut and their group dynamic is so good

Looking back now, I kind of wish Ni-ki did not make the cut and was put in &Team instead. He was THE teacher on ground. The later episodes proved it when no body wanted to be a leader after so much disappointment. At the end, my faves were actually K and Ni-ki because of the evil edit. They actually had a really compelling storyline arc in ILand.
Enhypen's fandom just seem like a bunch of solo stans to me and that will unfortunate be the groups downfall. It's a shame since their concept is so cool and unique
Hmm, I actually think the solo stanning has kind of cooled down a bit after time especially within this year. I feel like the boys always try to stress enhypen as a team and after all the drama of 2022 the fandom seems more unified. At least that’s been my experience !

I-Land remains as the most negative in tone, toxic on both the internal and external levels, and just generally most obviously rigged elimination show in kpop. I love that you guys are saying "Oh the dynamics and the group and the votes" when literally none of that matters. It was all down to production, what they cut out, what they highlight, what they vote for both in the first half and second half, the plan from start to finish is an illusion to make watchers and voters think they have any ability to choose the outcome of this show. Enhypen was never going to have other members, and when you watch it back its so obvious. Kei was always going to be in &TEAM, Taki the same. During the show airing, as it went on, we started getting wise to it, it seems like you all are happy to live in the grim fantasy of a crafted story that has nothing to do with the reality.
