  • When Kimberly Comer began experiencing symptoms of bipolar disorder, she did not feel safe reaching out for help. As her symptoms worsened, she was hospitalized multiple times and wound up in prison after experiencing a major manic episode. Prior to being discharged, Kimberly attended a NAMI In Our Own Voice presentation and she found hope. When she was released, Kimberly reached out to NAMI. Since that day, she’s found a community she can connect with, started her recovery journey and rebuilt her life. Her story is featured in NAMI’s first book: You Are Not Alone.
