I want to jump in on the contest; I'm from a village in the south of England, 1900 is a modern house, most down here are 16th - 19th century. The oldest i know of near me is from the 13th century. A lot changes in the world but there are some communities where things pretty much remain completely the same and it's comforting.
That's so cool. I've harbored a secret desire to visit Ireland or Wales and just go into a pub. I doubt I'd understand a word. But it'd be less outside my comfort zone than the freakish sports bars we have here in America. Would rather die than go into a place like that 😂

What pubs r, (from what I have seen in movies and lore), is a place of bonding for men. A man could go in there after losing a child in the field and deal with it the way he knows how. They sent their kids to war and lost them, and they dealt with it the way they knew how. It worked for them. It was therapy. Those men meant more than I could ever know. But I would hit every pub in my path and hope a local would deem me worthy of sharing the local history. In San Francisco, there r two old pubs, old for US. 1900s. It was enough for a vacation in US, but didn't even whet the appetite.
I remember hearing about Matt like 10 years ago when he was doing the James Bonding Podcast with Matt Mira. Mira would mention his friend Gourley on the Nerdist Podcast.
