Wow, I've loved this song for years for it's simplicity. It's really nice to see it getting some love and a deconstruction by someone who explains everything so clearly. Thank you. :)
Just found your channel, I like your approach. Very easy for me to follow, understand and most importantly learn so thankyou Sean. Merry Christmas from the UK
I like how you deconstructed it, making it sound as if Frusciante did it that way... when in fact, we all know he just sniffed a line for an inspiration and the rest is just his pure talent.
and since you mentioned you only just discovered murderers, if you dont know them yet, treat yourself some life versions of the niandra lades album - ''untitled 2'' - and ''your pussys glued to a building on fire'' are just awesome :)
music (as frusciante) truly is amazing: your explaining of that chord progression is completely different from my usual understanding of it (i.e. that of an illiterate amateur player), but of course the end point is the same, which really shows how in the end this is a true universal language. quite an intricate thought, I know, but I felt like sharing
Hey Sean, just a bit of a correction, Frusciante also plays that F# bass at the same time he plays the riff. It's pretty interesting, you should look into that.
Videos are dope, your a smooth communicator and very insightful for people learning. I'm an aspiring guitarist playing in a band and was just wondering what you were doing in your early 20s?
My dudes, this is a great song to learn if you're a Frusciante fan. It will help you develop the ability to jump strings, which will make you a better guitarist and it's also a _huge_ component of Frusciante's sound. Have fun!
Could you do an episode on the deconstruction of Matt Bellamy - I like the Riff Deconstruction videos but I'd like to see them applied to the artists whole repertoire
hey sean great video once again but one thing i have to say, sorry not trying to be a 'know it all' but i think you can play the main riff and the bass note F# together, that's how i play it, i mean, i saw it on some videos on youtube..
by the way,(correct me if i''m wrong) i really think until stadium arcadium john never really used reverb in the chilis stuff either, maybe few exceptions but i think blood sugar and californication are pretty raw sounding arent they? :)
He used it in the odd song here and there, but it wasn't prominent until the By The Way album. I love my reverb, but it kills the funky sound he had in the older Chilis records.
You should really play the F# bass note at the same time as the riff. Frusciante is actually a pretty complicated musician in a lot of his solo stuff. This is really one of the simplest songs he has. I have a request though. Mascara by Frusciante. I just can't figure out why the chords work toghether. I think theres some key changes and stuff and i would like to know why it works so well. You are my favourite youtuber at the moment when it comes to chord theory and i think you could do a great job at explaining mascara and why it works.
This is a great song. I find his solo work interesting and refreshing. No matter what John plays i hear him in it. More Frusciante please.
+Les Loranzan right on Les! John is the man!
So basically we can bully you into teaching any song we like?
+Wew apparently so :)
thanks man you the real mvp and best birthday ever
+asiz dgn sorry it took me so long! Happy birthday dude!!
Brilliant....I love the way you show the "why" as well as what's being played, it really takes the learning to the next level!
Thanks so much for saying so!
when frusciante plays it i’m pretty sure he plays the lead part and the F# bass note between the lead lines, not as a seperate part
I think you're right!
Yep your right
THATS the technique I was hoping to SEE
Wow, I've loved this song for years for it's simplicity. It's really nice to see it getting some love and a deconstruction by someone who explains everything so clearly. Thank you. :)
No problem :)
Thanks man. I've been waiting so long for this. I absolutely love this song.
+Efaz Safwan happy to help!!

Insightful :)
Damn good way of teaching this I must say. Well done
Thanks for checking it out!

+Nico Realm I'm totally answering this on the QA next week
Thanks! We love you ❤️
+Shahar Pikman happy to help!
Mistake on the main riff: you're doing C# E C# when it should be C# E B.
my favorite Jhon Frusciante number
Thank you.
+LEE BRALY thanks Lee!

@@seandaniel23 Thanks for making the video!
You should really do something josh homme/qotsa he uses his own "josh homme" scale. See josh homme guitar moves for more info.
I know I saw that! I'll address it soon!
my friend, this is really high quality shit. would you break down some more froosh?
Nice idea!
nice work. you should do another of his off that same album - ramparts :)
Thanks for watching!
Could you do an episode on the deconstruction of Matt Bellamy - I like the Riff Deconstruction videos but I'd like to see them applied to the artists whole repertoire
Yes, I must do this.
Can you deconstruct My Smile is a Rifle? He does some interesting stuff in there.
Great suggestion!
Yeah!!! 👍🏼
The legend!
hey sean great video once again but one thing i have to say, sorry not trying to be a 'know it all' but i think you can play the main riff and the bass note F# together, that's how i play it, i mean, i saw it on some videos on youtube..
Green & Blue That's right. it's how i play it too. The song is a bit more complicated than Sean teaches it here
Thanks for the feedback, I actually never watched any of the live ones like I probably should've, just worked it out by ear.
i dont think he ever played it live, but i have seen other people doing cover of it
no way. i randomly learned it on piano by ear and i hit the f sharp... great
keep it funky!
Where is riff 2
Snow Hey Oh or maybe Regret by rhcp and John frusciante
+Devin Doherty such great songs
10 cents for every time you say "right"
by the way,(correct me if i''m wrong) i really think until stadium arcadium john never really used reverb in the chilis stuff either, maybe few exceptions but i think blood sugar and californication are pretty raw sounding arent they? :)
By the way used Reverb/Echo in the studio.
+Luc Lo yeah they're definitely on the raw side. I think he actually uses a little bit of chorus on a lot of it
oh yea forgot about chorus, you got me there.. if im not mistaken its the boss ce1 he uses, some expensive ass vintage stuff anyway :)
Yeah I just saw an article on that CE-1. safe to say I'll never own one :)
He used it in the odd song here and there, but it wasn't prominent until the By The Way album. I love my reverb, but it kills the funky sound he had in the older Chilis records.
Do not negotiate with terrorists
They broke me down.
Yeah we need more Frusciante!!!!
Songs like untitled #6 and 7 would be great :)
Coming soon!
Plug In Baby Riff Deconstruction Please!!!
+funcmed86 one of my all time faves. I'll get to it eventually
How about you do "Drive" by Casey James, but the acoustic version. I can't for the life of me figure it out.
Nice idea!
Symphony X - Eve of seduction intro please
+SYNQUILITY good call. I'll check it out!
Sean Daniel - Thanks! 😄
Which type of looper do you use?

+Shiro yasha for whatever reason I can't seem to reteach myself that

First time I heard this song was when I watched this when I was little...
watch?v=92nbYoHT_j0
Why don't you deconstruct why there's no f#cking lyrics
Haha, I wish I knew!
John Frusciante has never seized to make a good album, solo or not
+Gage Fraw he's the man!
