    This is a great song. I find his solo work interesting and refreshing. No matter what John plays i hear him in it. More Frusciante please.

    when frusciante plays it i’m pretty sure he plays the lead part and the F# bass note between the lead lines, not as a seperate part

    Wow, I've loved this song for years for it's simplicity. It's really nice to see it getting some love and a deconstruction by someone who explains everything so clearly. Thank you. :)

    I like how you deconstructed it, making it sound as if Frusciante did it that way... when in fact, we all know he just sniffed a line for an inspiration and the rest is just his pure talent.

    music (as frusciante) truly is amazing: your explaining of that chord progression is completely different from my usual understanding of it (i.e. that of an illiterate amateur player), but of course the end point is the same, which really shows how in the end this is a true universal language. quite an intricate thought, I know, but I felt like sharing

    Hey Sean, just a bit of a correction, Frusciante also plays that F# bass at the same time he plays the riff. It's pretty interesting, you should look into that.

    Mistake on the main riff: you're doing C# E C# when it should be C# E B.

    My dudes, this is a great song to learn if you're a Frusciante fan. It will help you develop the ability to jump strings, which will make you a better guitarist and it's also a _huge_ component of Frusciante's sound. Have fun!

    hey sean great video once again but one thing i have to say, sorry not trying to be a 'know it all' but i think you can play the main riff and the bass note F# together, that's how i play it, i mean, i saw it on some videos on youtube..

    • @minemilx2702
      @minemilx2702 7 лет назад

      Green & Blue That's right. it's how i play it too. The song is a bit more complicated than Sean teaches it here

  • @luclo8076
    @luclo8076 7 лет назад +1

    by the way,(correct me if i''m wrong) i really think until stadium arcadium john never really used reverb in the chilis stuff either, maybe few exceptions but i think blood sugar and californication are pretty raw sounding arent they? :)

    • @TheMasterMacc
      @TheMasterMacc 7 лет назад +2

      By the way used Reverb/Echo in the studio.

    • @seandaniel23
      @seandaniel23  7 лет назад +2

      +Luc Lo yeah they're definitely on the raw side. I think he actually uses a little bit of chorus on a lot of it

    • @luclo8076
      @luclo8076 7 лет назад

      oh yea forgot about chorus, you got me there.. if im not mistaken its the boss ce1 he uses, some expensive ass vintage stuff anyway :)

    • @seandaniel23
      @seandaniel23  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah I just saw an article on that CE-1. safe to say I'll never own one :)

    • @batman8293
      @batman8293 6 лет назад

      He used it in the odd song here and there, but it wasn't prominent until the By The Way album. I love my reverb, but it kills the funky sound he had in the older Chilis records.

    You should really play the F# bass note at the same time as the riff. Frusciante is actually a pretty complicated musician in a lot of his solo stuff. This is really one of the simplest songs he has. I have a request though. Mascara by Frusciante. I just can't figure out why the chords work toghether. I think theres some key changes and stuff and i would like to know why it works so well. You are my favourite youtuber at the moment when it comes to chord theory and i think you could do a great job at explaining mascara and why it works.
