Many people never heard of Maria! They know of her now. Why? Because AJ is playing her in this movies. They are both very powerful and strong women and we as women should appreciate both of these women. I cannot wait to see this film.
I think Callas would have approved of AJ playing her in this film. Why? Because they are both strong women who live their craft. One was a singer and she lived her craft. AJ is the same but in a different genera of art, an actress. Mr. Pablo Larrain is very imprecise about Opera and Maria Callas. Opera might include tragic stories, but also happy stories, joyful stories and hilarious stories (Mozart, Donizetti, Rossini, Puccini!). It was Musical Theatre and, everywhere, the quality of Music leads the scene, the acting and singing, in complexity and perfection. Maria Callas was able to commit and fully dedicate herself to that complexity, through effort and continous work. That is how she conveyed emotions and beauty through Musical Theatre. Will Angelina, mixing her voice with hers, be able to do the same?
The fact that the director admitted to the lack of musical talent of Angelina Jolie is striking! Agelina Jolie is NOTHING like Maria Callas, the legendary opera singer! Why was she even casted? There are still singing actresses in Holywood...
